  1. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Peter O'Toole sucks. He must, if he's never won an oscar, right?
  2. Re: The cranky thread What a nightmare. Damned if I ever approve anyone's vacation ever again.
  3. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? A webinar on operating StoreVault storage appliances.
  4. Re: The cranky thread Yeah, it's starting to sound more and more like food poisoning. I hope that's what it is because I don't want to be contagious. Ate a few more crackers for breakfast and staggered in to the office for a webinar, and then the phones stopped working. I fkn own this thread atm.
  5. Re: Musings on Random Musings I take it the child will be named "Bone"?
  6. Re: The cranky thread The good news is that the chills, aches, weakness and nausea have subsided (though they are not completely gone). The bad news is I got four hours of sleep before the east coast guys called to complain they couldn't reach our intranet. 90 minutes later we narrow it down to some kind of routing or vpn issue with Comcast in DC. And they won't give me the time of day because I am not an actual Comcast customer. So here I sit, exhausted and unwell, and there's nothing I can do for my colleagues.
  7. Re: The cranky thread Better, though not 100%. I'm skipping dinner unless you count two crackers and half a bottle of powerade. This is either some stomach flu or the world's fastest acting strain of salmonella. Probably the former. It's weird, this came out of nowhere--I went from fine to ejecta-from-both-ends in 30 minutes.
  8. Re: The cranky thread Ha! I thought that was bad. But then I had to walk out of an important customer planning session so that I could puke up lunch in their bathroom. Nothing like tasting lunch twice, and having bits of it go in the back of your nose and stick in your teeth! And now the burning sensation of bile.
  9. Re: The cranky thread (ring) Hello? Hey, it's John. John! What's up? Hey, the bar we're having the seminar at, they only have 110 power. Oh. Well, that won't work, the demo requires 220 volt like I told you. We can't convert? Well... we'd have to buy a transformer... and even then the bar would have to have more than one circuit in the room, which is not likely. How hard would it be to get the converter? I don't know, I'd have to look it up. And even then it probably wouldn't work. So no demo? No demo. You should start looking for another venue. We cannot, we've sent out the invitations already. So... we've sent out invitations to a demo that we can't have? Can you find a converter? Sure, I'll drop everything I'm doing to hunt for a transformer that might work, because somebody chose to host the demo at a bar that doesn't have the power that I told you we needed three weeks ago. Okay, great, thanks!
  10. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER (clears throat) So, uh, seen any good movies lately?
  11. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER You say that like it's a bad thing.
  12. Re: A Thread for Random Musings So the copy of Strike Force that I bought off ebay arrived today, except it wasn't Strike Force. It's a mini from the Dreamblade game, which appears to be like *Clix without the clicking. Now I have to ship this thing back.
  13. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER That's right. This is the thread for blunt force trauma.
  14. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Yeah, we lived on beef stew for a couple of weeks. It's hard to overstate just how time consuming a child can be. The first couple of weeks, we had a helluva time finding time to feed ourselves or even go to the bathroom. The sleep deprivation was so bad that at one point my wife mistook a stuffed animal for the baby (in the dark). I'm hoping Seanaci gets one of the easy ones, that sleep through the night from day 1.
  15. Re: A Thread for Random Musings If All We Had To Worry About Were Surface Features...we Could End This Discussion Right Now With A Dry Trade Wind Forecast. Alas...the Atmosphere Is Three-dimensional And An Upper Low About 250 Miles Northeast Of The Main Island Chain Has Destabilized Our Atmosphere Sufficiently For Thunderstorms And Heavy Showers To Develop. Almost All Of This Activity Is Over Water This Evening. Over Land...radar Shows The Eastern Half Of Kauai Receiving The Brunt Of Thunderstorms And Heavy Rainfall This Evening. Heavy Showers Could Develop At Any Time Across The Islands Tonight And Tomorrow. The Upper Low Is Forecast To Remain Almost Stationary Through The Weekend...perhaps Receiving Some Reinforcement Tomorrow Night As A Weak Vorticity Lobe Moves In From The West. Starting Sunday Night Or Monday...the Low Will Fill In And Move Eastward Away From The Islands. Since Strong High Pressure Will Remain To Our North Through Next Week...trade Winds Will Continue With Drier Weather Expected As The Atmosphere Becomes More Stable.
  16. Re: Tuala Morn in Online Store It's about friggn' time. I swear, someone needs to teach Steve Long how to touch type or something. He's so slow.
  17. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Huzzah!! You are so doomed. Start acquiring take out menus from every decent eatery within fifteen minutes, and make sure to arrange for someone to come over once a day to help with the dishes and other cleanup.
  18. Re: Musings on Random Musings Does 3G/4g matter as much when iPhone comes with wifi?
  19. Re: Skyguard Laser Cost-per-shot is not even the most compellling argument for this system; AA performance is. With shot travel time at zero and a good tracking system, this thing can bring down any aircraft, UAV, missile, or shell that it can track. It's just a question of effective range. This technology obsoletes the A-10 and any other non-stealthy, low- to mid-altitude aircraft.
  20. Re: Interesting Sailboat of Sorts: Where are the guns?
  21. Re: Skyguard Laser If that's the case I wish they'd shift more of their R&D budget to lightsaber research.
  22. Re: Al-Qadim anyone? Dark Sun is an excellent setting. Better suited to Hero than to AD&D, oddly enough. (But then again, what setting isn't?) We had a wonderful two-year Dark Sun FH campaign, back in the day. It ended... accidentally.
