  1. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Most anyway... I live about 2 miles from the Apple plant here in Sacto. and as such get to interact with many of their employees. Live next door to one in fact. As I said, most do.
  2. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Well, we shall see then.
  3. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER There has been some discussion about offending people, and being sensitive to these issues myself, I was wondering if anyone would be offended by this, and if so, I will remove it, but I was curious just how far the sensibilities extend. Mujibar was trying to get into America legally through Immigration. The Immigration Officer said, "Mujibar, you have passed all the tests, except there is one more test. Unless you pass it you cannot enter America." Mujibar said, "I am ready now sir for taking your testing." The officer said, "Make a sentence using the words Yellow, Pink and Green." Mujibar thought for a few minutes and said, "Mister Officer, I am ready." The officer said, "Go ahead." Mujibar said, "The telephone goes green, green, green, and I pink it up, and say, 'yellow, this is Mujibar." Mujibar now lives in a neighborhood near you... and works at Microsoft... on the Help Desk.
  4. Re: Sky High the movie, now with Extra Vitamin "S" (spoilers) Spoilers... Saw this yesterday. EXCELLENT FILM! Not only as a superhero flick, but as a high school movie. It was perhaps one of the best put together high school films ever. Notice all the 80s music? Notice the standard "bad boy meets hot chick" at the end? Notice the clichishness? All elements of the typical high school movie, but it was practically flawless. I can't remember a thing that forced me to step out of the movie. The reasons for everyone actions were there, they even brought back the bus driver, when they could have written the business card thing off. They could of came up with some other hot babe at the end, but they used the one from the beginning. The detention room was an awesome idea. I mean the writers and director had their act together big time, and deserve every dime they got paid. As something particularly close to my heart, I am so happy to see the "power armor" get portreyed so well. This is promising for my hope to see an Ironman movie become a reality. HOW ON EARTH COULD CRITICS BAD MOUTH THIS MOVIE?!?!
  5. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Ah... since I have greatly reduced my NGD browsing, and stay away from potential fire storms I haven't noticed that. I'm fine with staying in the threads were I appreciate the posters comments, and suggestions, and hopefully they will stay that way.
  6. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER That's why I've only stepped into maybe two threads of that nature. I learned a long time ago to just keep it to myself. Every once in a while I need to vent it all, but generally I just don't let it bother me. We are all individuals in this great big world of ours and as such will always find something to disagree on, and then add in the arrogance of many people, and you have a brew that will get messy eventually.
  7. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER That's scary... I had that exact same thought.
  8. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER And another for our friends that know how to "work the system".
  9. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER A little something for our Southern posters... Only a Southerner knows... .....the difference between a "hissy" fit and a "conniption" fit and that you don't HAVE them, you PITCH them .....the general direction of "yonder" .....the best gesture of solace to a neighbor in trouble is a plate of hot fried chicken and a big bowl of cold 'tater salad and if it's a real crisis, they know to add a large banana puddin' .....that "just down the road" can be 1 mile or 20 .....that grits come from corn and how to eat them .....to say "sweet" milk means you don't want buttermilk .....that you don't shout obscenities at a little old lady who drives 30 MPH on the freeway. You just say "Bless her heart" and go your own way And for those that are not from the South but have lived here for a long time, ya'll need a sign to hang from ya'lls front porch that reads: "I ain't from the South but I got here as fast as I could" Bless your hearts, ya'll have a blessed day now, ya hear..
  10. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I found the books to be far more entertaining and rich than the movies. I still enjoyed the movies, but they leave out a lot of important details to the story. This next movie will be the deciding factor on my decision since the book it is based on is a massive tome with constant events unfolding. I'll be interested to see how that gets translated to film. Honestly the books are kids books, and that is why the read so fast for adults, but JKR has done a really excellent job with the world and story, and as far as I'm concerned is _one_ of the best storytellers of our time.
  11. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER My wife devoured it as well. She finished it in two sittings, and now she is pestering me constantly to get it read so that she can talk to me about it. I do want to read it, but due to my busy schedule it isn't going to happen anytime soon.
  12. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. We all have bad days.
  13. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Yez, it waz.
  14. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. By far one of the best pieces you've done to date. I hadn't even noticed the fire until it was colored. Absolutely beautiful. Wish I could rep ya, but I can't right now.
  15. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Well there is that pesky recovery time that follows such a shot...
  16. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I understand that a shot of pure adrenaline to the heart works well too... NURSE!! Have some adrenaline:
  17. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Isn't it one full puff, and three deep compressions, or something like that...?
  18. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER But thankfully cows are willing to file the appropriate paperwork and go through the proper channels before becoming a resident, and thankfully we don't have to print material in Bovine to appease them.
  19. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Rise LRTE, rise... THREE THINGS TO THINK ABOUT IN 2005: COWS, CONSTITUTION, AND THE TEN COMMANDANTS. COWS: Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington. And they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give them all a cow. CONSTITUTION: They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it's worked for over 200 years and we're not using it anymore. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS: The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse! You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery," and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians! It creates a hostile work environment!
  20. Re: Superhero Images Hey Mags, your work is improving! Well done!!
  21. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER SCIENTISTS DISCOVER NEW ELEMENT A major research institution has just announced the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element has been named "Governmentium". Governmentium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 311. These 311 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, as it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of Governmentium causes one reaction to take over 4 days to complete, when it would normally take less than a second. Governmentium has a normal half-life of 4 years; it does not decay, but, instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as "Critical Morass". When catalyzed with money Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element which radiates just as much energy, since it has 1/2 as many peons but twice as many morons.
  22. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER We use Microsoft Antispyware. Other than the existing problems I mentioned it has done a decent job. The nice thing about it is that it can be configured to run automatically everyday, which I setup on every PC, and it has agents that run and watch for downloads. I get calls regularly from people asking what this "red box that says Blocked" means. LOL It's good to know that it is working. Alice, if you are running other antispyware, did you know that you can use Windows Task Schedular to schedule it to run for you so that you don't have to do it? You may want to do that and save yourself a little time.
  23. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER As of right now, they are paying me rather well, but I am certainly watching and listening carefully to events.
  24. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Unfortunately, the powers that be in control don't like spending money on "frivalous software that may never be needed" note that is their words not mine. When I was hired I came from teaching IT, databases, and programming for 7 years, and 12 years overall of computer experience. They hired me from a very large list of candidates for my knowledge and expertise, but as soon as I started talking about changing things, they told me no. I learned to keep quiet and do what I could until stuff like this happens and then I get to step up and make more suggestions. Unfortunately they don't always see things past the dollar amounts. Oh well.
