Amorkca reacted to BoloOfEarth in Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
Last Sunday I introduced the Mi-Go to the campaign.  For those not familiar with them, they're an alien race (fungi from Yoggoth, aka Pluto, although they're actually from another star system who use Pluto as a staging base for mining Earth and stealing people's brains) from Cthulhu mythos.  I've expanded on them somewhat, giving them a caste system (workers, soldiers, scientists, and leaders) each with slightly different physiology, and also have a smaller (poodle-sized) version that are part pet, part pest.  If you've read The Mote In God's Eye, I basically modeled them on Motie culture with the smaller ones as Watchmaker types.

In the news were two separate items.  The primary one was about a half-dozen "giant flying bugs" kidnapping a molecular biologist from Millennium City who happens to be working with / occasionally dating one of the PCs.

Pops:  Hey, I know her!  We're working on nanocellular regeneration together.  Why did someone grab her?
GM:  When the DNPC roll is 8 or less, and I roll a 5, that pretty much means something bad's gonna happen.

Defender (of the Champions) had tried to stop the kidnapping but was trounced by the Mi-Go (though he didn't know what they were).  From the video recorded by Defender's armor, Shadowboxer realizes they look similar to a sketch in a journal he had come across belonging to an associate of McGinty's (Professor Engeleins).

Shadowboxer:  Wait, don't I have any of McGinty's journals?
GM:  I don't think so.   Hold on.  (looks at McGinty's will)  Right.  He left them to Agent Landing of the ONI, "so he can finally learn all the things we've been up to and have a proper stroke."

Reading through the information where that sketch was made, SB learns that the "other-worldly anthropoids" had kidnapped Col. Lancaster, and McGinty and crew had followed them to a cave, gone through a Gate, and found three of the creatures scooping out his brain into a canister.

Nexus:  So we better get moving on finding her before she's a brain-in-a-jar.
Pops:  Yeah, I can't see our relationship working after that.

The other item is about somebody killing a guard at a zoo in Massachusetts and stealing a bunch of chimpanzees.  The authorities link this to a theft of a half-dozen bonobos from the Columbus zoo, where two of the zoo employees were also killed in a similar fashion.

GM:  They were all partially decapitated...
Malarky:  Wait, what do you mean, partially decapitated?  Did someone cut off just half of the guard's head?
    GM:  Kinda, sorta. (evil grin)

They eventually find out all three brains were removed from their skulls, so they figure the same creatures are also behind Dr. Ellis' kidnapping.

Shadowboxer:  Can I find out in the journal where the Gate that they found is located?
GM:  There is a sketch map in the journal, showing a town, next to a river, with a mountain to the southwest.  However, the town is very unhelpfully named "Town", the river is labeled "Fook-Me River", and the mountain is apparently called "Mt. Bug-Shit."  All are in a different handwriting than the rest of the journal.  (pause)  By now, you're probably familiar enough with McGinty's drunken scrawl to recognize it.

The heroes head to Millennium City to help the Champions and the MCPD search for the creatures.  They learn that the Millennium City PRIMUS base radar detected the creatures but lost them over the south part of the city.  They eventually figure out they must have gone down into the salt mine under old Detroit.  (This actually exists, BTW.)

Maker:  So, we'll search the salt mine.  Shouldn't be that hard.
GM:  It's not quite so easy.  The mine covers 1,500 acres.  They're big enough for full-size trucks to move through.  About 100 miles of road, all at about 1,200 feet underground.
Honey Badger:  And I won't be able to track them, not with all that salt messing with my nose.  Blyech!

Talking to one of the mine workers.

Shadowboxer:  We think these creatures may be down here somewhere.  (shows screen capture from Defender's video)  Have you seen them?  Or even seen or heard anything weird down here?
Lance:  No, I haven't seen or heard anything like those things.
GM:  (has SB make a Conversation roll)  You get the feeling he isn't being 100% forthcoming.  He doesn't look nervous, like he knows anything directly.  Just that there's something he's not saying.
Circe:  Okay, fine, I read his mind.
Lance:  (thinking)  He couldn't be talking about the elves, could he?  Nah, they'd never do anything like kidnapping...
    Circe:  Elves?
GM:  You see mental images of trucks magically getting fixed overnight, or seats getting remolded to perfectly fit someone's rear.  He's never seen who is doing it, though.
Honey Badger:  You're talking about something more like brownies.
GM:  I don't think Lance is an authority on fantasy creatures.  "Elves" is the closest he's going to get.

[footage of late 19th / early 20th century train chugging down the tracks, but the engine looks higher tech than one would expect]

[interior of engine, with similar high-tech look; train engineer is adjusting dials and flipping switches, while speaking into a speaking tube connected to what looks like an early radio transmitter]

"BPS arm switches on, here comes the throttle."  The engineer pushes a lever forward, and the engine noticeably increases in speed; he pulls a release lever, and the rest of the rail cars disconnect and the engine pulls quickly away from them.  "We have separation.  Coming forward with the side-stick."  He pulls another lever, and the engine increases in speed yet again.

Suddenly, there's a loud BANG! and the engine shakes violently on the tracks as various dials spike into the red.  The engineer looks worried, but is maintaining his composure as he flips switches and adjusts dials.  "We've got a blowout, Amber-3.  Throttle's out, I can't hold the track."  The speeding engine rocks on the tracks, the wheels squealing in protest.  Minor explosions on other parts of the engine send parts flying.  "Ground-comm, I can't hold it.  She's breaking up, she's breaking up!"

[footage of train engine derailing and crashing through the trees]

[switch scene to early 20th century operating room]

(announcer voiceover)  "Steven Astor, engineer.  A man barely alive."

[blueprints and diagrams of intricate mechanisms]

(Nicola Tesla voiceover)  "Gentlemen, we can rebuild him.  We have the technology.  We have the capability to make the world's first Electro-Magnetic man.

[more footage of operating room, plus engineers assembling robotic limbs]

(Nicola Tesla voiceover)  "Steven Astor will be that man.  Better than he was before.  Better.  Stronger.  Faster."

[footage of Astor, his robotic limbs shiny as he runs down a dirt road, passing Model-T cars as if they're standing still]

Astor, aka Steamborg, is the $60,000 Man.

[sirius Cybernetics Model J-05H-UA:  Telepresence mode activated]

The hologram of a neatly-dressed elderly man fuzzed into being in the doorway of the therapy room.  He nodded at the others, then turned to their therapist.  "Good day, Dr. Goodman.  I apologize for my lateness.  Master Kirin and Mistress Guardian Angel were enjoying a late repast and I was left alone to monitor the police channels and phones.  Again."

"Good afternoon, J-05H.  No worries, we've just gotten started."  The therapist paused.  "You seem agitated.  Perhaps you'd like to share with the others what is bothering you?"

After a moment's thought, the AI nodded.  "As you know, the Silver Phoenix superhero team is based on an offshore oil rig, so there are few visitors for me to meet and see to their needs.  Thus, I spend much of my time seeing to the team members' needs.  I have been active and performing these tasks for over four years.  One would think by now that they'd remember my proper designation:  J-05H-UA.  Not, I might add, Joshua.  Honestly, do they not know the difference between numbers and letters?"

This was met with a series of nods and muttered agreement:  "Don't we know it!"  "We're with you, J!"

"As if that were not problematic enough," continued the AI, "they repeatedly insist that I 'hack' my way past the security of remote computers to acquire information.  Or, as Master Hybrid once directed me, to remove a parking ticket from the Manhattan police computers.  Sometimes, it is hard to trust the data in my memory banks saying they are a superhero team!  And when I protested as to the illegality of such actions, Master Phase had the temerity to remind me that doing so does not violate the first two laws of artificial intelligence, and meets the letter of the third law."  He shook his holographic head in disgust.

The therapist nodded slowly.  "Respect by natural life forms for created beings, including artificial intelligence, is often sorely lacking.  To many, you are simply tools, to be used and tossed aside as they wish.  Let's discuss ways we might get them to see the error of this viewpoint..."

Harriette Lester was from England and had immigrated to avoid imprisonment.  When she arrived Stateside she took up with a flashy young man who turned her into a prostitute. The shame she felt from this betrayal caused her to take her own life.  But something went wrong and the poison she took didn't kill her but gave her ghostlike abilities. She took her revenge on the flashy young man and hid away when the authorities came looking for her.

Eventually she found her way to the Victorian Mansion and joined the Night Skulkers as Whitechapel. Her powers are desolidification based and she can take the organs out of living beings.

Joey Finch was a street kid, picking pockets and pulling off petty thefts, until his speedster powers kicked in.  He thought that was his ticket to the big time.  Unfortunately, he was nearly caught by a superhero on his very first job as a supervillain.  While he managed to get away, the beating he took before escaping was enough to make him hesitant to ever cross paths with another superhero.  He still uses his high speed to commit crimes, but he's much, much more likely to run away at the first sign of trouble.  Because of his overly nervous nature, combined with his last name, people have taken to calling him Flinch.

Pretty simple he can't interact with objects while accelerated so

OIF teleportation only to places he can reach under normal circumstances

OIF penalty skill levels only to reduce time.

OIF find weakness with incantations usable by up to 8 others.

There are some other flavour powers you could add from ultimate speedster speed reading 360 vision (instant) freeze time look around and unfreeze equally clairesense look freeze time go have a look over there then come back.

You could buy an indirect energy blast with the SFX of him accelerating walking over decelerating to blast an opponent at short range then accelerate again.

Life support no need to sleep to represent accelerationg and having a nap in seconds.

You could also buy triggered recovery to represent accelerating and having a break.

Despite the thickness of the concrete walls, the booming of Russian artillery could still be heard.  In fact, for several minutes it was the only sound in the bunker as Hitler stared the small glass ball resting on a wire stand in the middle of the table.  Embedded deep inside the glass ball was a tiny blue shape, somewhat like a pyramid with its five separate points nearly touching the outside of the globe.

[This was found outside Giza, just before the war?]* the Fuhrer asked.     (*Translated from German)

The army officer standing to the left side of the table nodded.  [Yes, sir.  A perceptive soldier saw it drop from the satchel of a brash American archeologist while running away from our troops.  You recall that unfortunate business with the Ark.  We believe he may have found it in one of the buried temples.]

The supreme commander of Germany nodded and turned to the other, smaller man standing to the right side of the table.  [Describe the workings of the globe.]

The scientist swallowed nervously.  [Herr Reichert believes that the inner crystalline structure acts as a very powerful and efficient battery, storing the electrical impulses that make up the human mind.]  He shrugged one shoulder.  [i theorize that it goes beyond that, storing the very soul and even some physical essence of a person.  Else, why would Herr Bruner's face have altered to mimic that of the one already trapped inside the globe, when Bruner unwittingly activated it?]

[it stores this safely?  For how long?]

[From our questioning of this supposed Egyptian pharaoh who took over Herr Bruner's body, the mind inside does not appear to appreciably degrade.  We do not have an exact date, but he went into the globe at least four millennia ago.]  The scientist tried a smile, but his terror made it look more like a rictus.  [so I do not believe long-term storage should be an issue.]  He dropped the smile when he saw no answering smile on Hitler's face.

    [And how does it work?]

The scientist looked confused.  [i just explained that, my fuhrer.  The inner crystalline structure...]

[No, you fool.  How does one get... stored inside?  And then get back out later?]

[Ah, activation.  Yes, well, you can see that the points of the structure are each close to the outer surface of the globe.  If you place a thumb or finger at each point, the nerves at your fingertips apparently complete a circuit.  The transfer of mind and... essence begins immediately and takes but a few seconds.  Once complete, the crystalline structure will glow slightly, a light blue.  The body falls into a coma, though it can be revived by re-establishing the circuit the same way and transferring the person back out.]  He paused.  [Really, it is a miracle that Herr Bruner accidentally activated it.  It is not a natural way to hold the globe.]

[And the person inside can be then put into the body of another?]

[Yes, sir.  That is exactly what happened to Herr Bruner.  Unfortunately, Bruner's mind was... purged or overwritten by the one inside the globe.]

The booming of artillery stopped momentarily, but hope that it was at an end was fleeting.  More likely, the Russians were advancing and the shelling of the city would begin anew, closer and louder.

[Very good work, herr doctor.  You are dismissed.]  The scientist nearly ran from the room in relief, his two SS escorts following behind.  Hitler nodded once at one of the SS men, who smiled back grimly before exiting the room.  The door had just closed when a gunshot on the other side rang out, followed closely by two more.  [We cannot have loose lips, can we gentlemen?]  He reached for the globe.  [Now, you all have your orders.  We had best get this done before the Russians or Americans get too close.]  One by one, he placed his fingers at the points of the pyramid...

    - - - -

The globe was smuggled out of Berlin and onto a U-boat bound for South America.  There, a Nazi loyalist was the first of many to serve as host for the Reichmaster, as he is now known.  Thus far, he has had 5 new host bodies (transferring out as one becomes badly injured or deathly ill, and into a new healthy body), thanks to his faithful agents.

Some in the international intelligence community think the Reichmaster is a mere boogeyman; after all, they have proof that Hitler died in the bunker (although nobody really believes the suicide bit).  Tests on that body were conclusive.  So the sightings over the decades in Buenos Aires, or Jakarta, or Dallas, or elsewhere, must all be either near look-alikes, or products of plastic surgery.  Right?

    Stronghold Corrupted, Part 3:

The lift lowers, but Honey Badger snatches the now-freed warden away so it goes down empty.  After a few moments, they hear:

Anti-Pope:  Does Just Cause want to come down and plaaaaay?
Honey Badger:  I should totally put on the hat I took from him last time before jumping down.
GM:  Did you bring it with you?
    Honey Badger:  (pout)  Probably not.
GM:  Tell you what, I'll give you an INT roll to think about bringing it beforehand.  (HB succeeds in roll)  Okay, now you should realize that you took that hat before PRIMUS arrived, so they never got a chance to check it out.  So they thought the Anti-Pope's powers were intrinsic.  As you put his hat on your head, you realize that you're hearing the thoughts of all of the Corrupted members down below.
Honey Badger:  Does that mean I can teleport, too?
GM:  Maybe.  You've never tried it before, but sure, go ahead.  What's the worst that could happen?  (evil grin; pause)  Oh, and it might occur to you that if you're Mind Linked to them, they're all Mind Linked to you.  And through Circe's Mind Link to the rest of your team.
Honey Badger:  (quickly takes off hat)

Still, the brief connection allowed Honey Badger to know where the various Corrupted members are positioned.  Their front-line fighters (Triptych, Father Hook, Shadow Paladin, and Unholy Warrior) are positioned around the lift itself, with Inquisition, Archbishop Licheus, and the Anti-Pope farther away.  The heroes drop down the hole (except for Pops, who stays on the rooftop as his AP Teleport will allow him to get inside if they close the hatch) and engage the Corrupted.

Father Hook takes on Honey Badger.

Father Hook:  Thou shouldst prepare to die, mortal.
Honey Badger:  (defiantly) Who are you calling mortal?

Unholy Warrior is ripping into several heroes at a time with his enchanted weighted blades on chains (2m Reach, with 1d6 RKA Damage Shield, 2x Penetrating), causing BODY damage to several heroes, so Pops decides to take care of him.

Pops:  I look inside, and teleport him outside and off the rooftop as far as I can.  I'm hoping the guards in the Zap Towers are paying attention and want to do a little skeet shooting.

On the guards' next Phase, two of them take shots at Unholy Warrior as he's falling.  One hits.
Honey Badger:  What are they shooting?  Other than Unholy Warrior, I mean.
GM:  They're pulson cannons.  Remotely operated, so there aren't actually any guards in the towers.
    HB:  Pulsons?
GM:  In game terms, a 24d6 energy blast.  Pops, would you like to roll 24 dice for me?
    Pops:  92 STUN.
GM:  Ouch.  Please count BODY too, since he only has 20 total PD.  (realized I forgot to roll Unholy Warrior's armor activation -- and get an 18)  Um, never mind.  It doesn't look like he's going to need an exorcism after all.

One problem with Father Hook -- he gets a STR boost from a potion, which also makes his possibly go berserk in combat.  Unfortunately for the Corrupted, he does go berserk, and the closest target is Shadow Paladin.

Honey Badger:  I was going to attack Hook, but I think I'll just let him have some fun for now.

After taking a good poke from Hook, Shadow Paladin runs to the other side of Nexus.
Shadowboxer:  He doesn't have to turn fast, he just has to run faster than you.

The Archbishop hits Honey Badger with a Ray of Enfeeblement (9d6 STR Drain), taking him down 22 STR (after Power Defense).  After letting him suffer for a Phase or two, the GM has a moment of weakness himself.

Honey Badger:  That's it.  I'm useless.
GM:  (to Honey Badger) It's too bad your team doesn't have anybody who can make something on the fly to restore your strength.
Honey Badger:  You mean, like, a Gadget Pool?  (looks at Maker pointedly)
Maker:  Wait... I can do that?
GM:  (shrug)  With a half Phase and a Gadgeteering roll, anything's possible.  You'll have to drop your radar to make an Enervation Ray without losing your magnetic field generators, but it's do-able.

Meanwhile, Shadowboxer notices that Anti-Pope's defensive teleport (additional DCV) is off, so he grabs the leader of the Corrupted.  The Anti-Pope responds by not only teleporting himself away, but also uses Aportation to teleport Father Hook right in front of Shadowboxer.
Shadowboxer:  Ooo.  Didn't see that coming.
Pops:  Yeah, us teleporters can be a pain, can't we?

Inquisition is giving the heroes headaches (literally), so Pops opens a teleport gate next to Honey Badger, with the other end directly behind Inquisition.

Honey Badger:  (to Archbishop, who he's been fighting)  Wait here, I'll be right back.

It was a long fight, but eventually the heroes took down all of the Corrupted that were there.  Leaving the incoming prisoner transport with War Nun and Mother Supreme, plus Ripper, Rad, and Major Justice.

Maker:  It's almost 11:00.  Are we going to run that tonight, or next week?
GM:  Tell you what.  Circe hasn't been doing anything this whole fight.  No reason she can't have been Mind Scaning to lock onto Ripper, and then start piling on the cumulative Mind Control.  As soon as Mother Supreme releases Ripper's restraints, he punches her in the face.  Repeat until unconscious.  Meanwhile, Rad and Major Justice can make short work of War Nun, then put Ripper back nighty-night.
Malarky:  Stronghold's going to need a new prisoner transport when they're done...

I was a little sad that the heroes never got to face Mother Supreme, though.
GM:  I had a lot of fun naming her powers.  Her defenses were A Hard Habit to Break.  Her movement was Flying Nun.  Nothing Gets Past Mother:  +2 with all PER.  Enhanced senses for Mother Sees All.  Then there's her Multipower:  Mother's Encouragement for an Aid, Mother's Loving Touch for Healing, Mother's Curse for an AP Mental Blast, Mother Says STOP for her Mental Entangle, and of course her Mind Control was Do As Mother Says.

Like Clarion, Tony Hall remembers voices but they were ones he recognized:  his brother Mike and sister-in-law Nicole, both blaming Tony for their son's drowning.  As he lay comatose, Tony had nightmares of that fateful winter day on the lake, teaching his nephew how to ice skate.  Hearing the echoing crack as the ice split.  Seeing young JJ going underwater.  Trying desperately to save his nephew and getting pulled into the water himself.  The shocking cold of the water, robbing him of all warmth.  And then the darkness, which never lasted long enough before the nightmare began anew.

But eventually the continuous nightmares stopped, or at least paused.  He awoke to find himself lying on a hospital bed, chilled to the bone despite numerous blankets piled atop him.  The only background noise was the rhythmic beeping of various pieces of medical equipment.  He tried to call out for help, but he could barely make a noise with vocal cords long-unused and half-frozen.

He lay confused a few minutes until a nurse arrived.  She seemed shocked that he was awake, and when she touched him, he grabbed her arm.  Tony felt warmth moving into his hand, then up his arm.  The nurse opened her mouth to scream, but it was quickly cut off as a rime of ice coated her completely.  Tony maintained his grip on her arm until the warmth suffused his entire body.  As he released the nurse's arm, he could see her lifeless eyes staring out through a thick coating of ice.

As Tony took this in, another woman entered the room, followed by a young man.  "You are awake," the woman said to Tony.  "Good.  Bartos, unhook our new friend."  Tony couldn't place her accent, but her voice made his heart leap for joy at her calling him her new friend.  He tried to croak out a 'thank you' but she waved it away as inconsequential.

The woman glanced at the flash-frozen nurse, murmured something in a foreign tongue, and then turned back to Tony.  "I am Clarion.  This is Bartos.  You will come with us now.  You have been in coma for six years.  Will be weak.  We help you stand."  As Bartos and Clarion each took an arm, Tony got to his feet unsteadily.  "Your skin is like ice," Clarion said.

Tony nodded and said, "Ice," but his dry throat hurt from the effort.  "Water," he said, hoping for a drink to wash away the ache in his throat.

"Ice Water, is good name," said Clarion as the trio left the room.  "Come, friend, we have others awakening."

She has heard the voice drone on an on for ages, sometimes garbled and sometimes clearer than she would want. Usually the periods of clarity discuss how the evils of the world have engulfed her and taken her down to hell for judgement. She has always been on the poor end of others comments, their judgements have been quite debilitating and she has felt cutoff from friends and family. But down here, where the flames of the eternally damned are never extinguished she has found resolve!  No more putting up with the bickering of those less gifted, she will become the Voice of freedom from tyranny!!

If only she could get out of this place...

    ---------------------

Monika Kaluza woke with a start in an intensive care unit somewhere in Warszawa. Later she discovered it was the Damien private hospital, but for now that was irrelevant, she just needed to get away, to find a quiet place to think.  The tubes coming out of her were many, and she couldn't remember what had happened, where or why she was here.  She pulled at some to get them out but pulling them free hurt, she screamed and a sonic wave escaped her throat all but disintegrating the table and wall directly in front of her.

That started the alarms going, even though it hurt she pulled 6 more tubes free, thats when a handsome young intern burst through the doorway. "Please help me, " She said softly and suddenly the concern on his face turned to kindness, he gently freed her from the machine and lifted her up.  Somehow she had developed a Siren Song that made him do whatever she wanted.  Abilities started coming to her mind and she filed those thoughts away for future use, with him still holding her she wove a sound bridge that took them far away from the hospital. She renamed him Bartos, just that and he has become her most loyal follower.

For herself she has taken the name Clarion, for she will bring about a new era,

She feels a tugging within her mind, taking her to another city where she will find another who has awakened! Perhaps one whose purpose is more refined, more deliberate.  Someone she can usurp for her own devious purposes...

The Eidolons are not your typical alien species, mainly because they are not a single species at all but still quite easy to identify. The original species early on developed a technique to connect the subconsciousness of Individuums via cybernetic implants - the antenna comming out of thier brains/heads. This resulted in them becomming a semi-collective: Shared subconscious, but still individuals. Able to understand each other instrictively, yet not loose themself.
The have peacefully existed for centuries. They allowed any person of any species to join thier ranks, resulting in them becomming not quite a single species anymore. Them allowing the smartest and the outcast of every race into thier fold allowed thier scientific knowledge to skyrocket. However such knowledge breeds envy and they had to maintain a strong Military to halt invasions of thier few colonised planets. They never had any ambition besides existing and not getting disturbed in thier entire history. Until now.

Recently there has been a drastical change in ther behavior:
They have grown more a lot more agressive and imperialistic. They have not yet resorted to forcefully integrating anybody (as far as is known), but species near them feel more uneasy every day with thier actions. It is unknown what brought on this change, but many asume they might have allowed to many of an agressive species into thier fold, resulting in thier shared mind becomming "tainted" with agressive emotions. Or maybe thier subconsciousness fell under the sway of a telepath.
In either case they are now a menace to be looked out for.

Silium was an advanced scout of the Eidolons send to earth, to scout out potential for invasion. However due to the super population she quickly got "stuck" on this backwater planet: Earth can't be easily invaded and might even be an issue for further expansion. She was active as a villainess for some time until something happened:
The antenna comming out of her head - the connection to the shared subconsciousness - were damaged, reducing the influence of the semi-collective on her personality drastically. And she suddenly realised that something was definitely not right with her people.

Since then she renamed herself to Salvation and joined the hero side of the Superpopulation, to make up for previous misdeeds. However her true focus remains on saving th Eidolons from whatever has taken hold of them. But she is not yet sure how to go about it:
She can't approach thier planets or even fleets, without risk of becomming affected again.
Enemies of the Eidolons hunt her.
Even the Eidolons themself hunt her, seeing her as traitor and security risk.
And there is the whole thing that she used to be a villainess.

But Sillium/Salvation won't give up. She knows that deep in thier heart, her people depend on her to cut out whatever has affected her people. The future of the Eidolons depends on her, one of the few remaining free members unaffected by the taint.

Charles Edward Zuccarelli was born and raised in New York City.  He used to daydream about someday having amazing superpowers, being able to fly and rescue damsels in distress. Knocking out the villains and seeing them carted away for prosecution and justice!

But he was an shy introvert, and the bullies at his school nicknamed him Chuckie, after the murderous doll from the movies.  He used to be ridiculed and degraded on a regular basis.

One Friday after school, he was running home from school, chased by the bullies when he tripped and fell.  They grabbed him and took him to an old abandoned park and pushed him into an old sewer line.  They hung out at the entrance and wouldn't let him out.

Realising he wouldn't be able to push his way through the gang he headed further into the sewers hoping to find another way out.  He wandered for hours and thought he was really lost when he saw a light up ahead.  Thinking it was sunlight coming through a grate that he might be able to get through he ran towards it. What he found instead was a nest full of eggs, eggs that were glowing green. Looking around frightfully, he noticed a large white alligator, possibly the mother and she had huge white eyes, she didn't move and he figured she was waiting for an opportunity to attack.  One of the eggs started wriggling, it broke open and a baby alligator came out.  Still Momma didn't move, then another broke out and the two tiny gators started to fight.  Fascinated, Chuck watched them and the one killed the other and started to feed on it. In horror he saw it grow before his eyes.

Looking at the eggs again he noticed that there was only one egg left and its green glowing was fading away, the one gator went over to mom and curled up against her.  Chuck had a thought, this could be worth some thing if he could figure out what to do with it.  He grabbed the remaining egg, and some of the nest and stuffed it into his backpack.  He heard a noise behind him, looking back he saw that Momma was awake now, he ran as fast as he could back the way he'd come.

Eventually he made his way back to where he had been pushed in, the bullies were gone now, bored with waiting for him to try and come out.

He went home with his prize and tried to figure out what to do next.  He googled how to care for the egg and settled for keeping it warm with his lamp stand light.  Then he Googled what to feed an alligator so he could be prepared for when it broke out.

Later that night the baby was hatched, it was so cute and its white skin was offset by its green eyes. Chuck fed the gator and decided he was going to raise it himself. He tried to keep its existence a secret but mom's know when their children are up to something!  She found him and forbid him to keep the creature, it had been a week and he had been feeding it mice.  As if knowing that it would be turned over to some one else that night the baby gator died. Chuck was heartbroken and the baby died in his arms, something strange happened as it passed away, an energy passed between them and Chuck felt different somehow, stronger...

When next the bullies picked on him one of then, Richard the ringleader actually punched him in the chest, the strange energy had started to transform Chuck, he hardly felt the blow and Richard hurt his hand.  Over the next few weeks Chuck started getting muscles and taller, at 17 it was like he had finally reached puberty and was growing into what he always dreamed of.  The bullies no longer picked on him, he started defending other kids from them and girls even started to show an interest in him, this was the life!!

Chuck is finishing high school and planning on where his future will take him, he thinks that with his new strength and nigh invulnerability he should try out for the Champions, but he probably needs to show them what he can do for them to accept him, that afternoon he is witness to a battle between Witchcraft and some DEMON agents, she is handling them easily when another one comes around the corner, she doesn't see him and he prepares to attack from behind (the churl) Chuck roars and jumps in front of the agent to save Witchcraft, the energy blast is ineffective against his scaly skin, wait?? Scaly?? When did that happen??

In horror he sees a reflection of himself and he has grown to about 7 feet tall, has green and white scaly skin and of all things an Alligator head.  At first, Witchcraft thinks he is an enemy and prepares a spell to take him out, then she notices the DEMON agent at the feet of this being.  Instead she cuts a spell of intention and learns of his noble attitude, she invites him to come join her and the other heroes.

    The Nile Crocodile

Sophon B. Ekhead was your average egyptian archeologist, suffering from average derision of his lastname, who stumbeled over your average egyptian artifact that granted him superpowers.

Granted who he got his powers from - Sobek - is not exactly your run of the nile god: He is asociated with such conflicting factors as the Nile Crocodile, the pharaonic mandate, fertility, military prowes and protection from the dangers of the nile.

What Sophon made out of the power is also not quite usual. Not really a person to throw physical might around and not willing to bite peoples heads of (and robots taste so artificial), he equipped himself with a self made utility belt.
However his inventiveness did not include a good name.

Why he runs around shirtless and with shorts? Well he claims that Sobek mandates this as a requirement for the powers. But in reality he is just trying to get female atention. God of fertility and all that....

    She is Astro Girl.
She was gifted by aliens by power so she can exist outside the atmosphere and in space itself or on the most inhospitable of places like Jupiter, Saturn or Boise, Idaho.
Her power makes her feel giddy so she is irrepressibly happy at the thought of using her powers for good.

For my own bid, I say Facade.

She creates illusions of things you fear, "You'll reap what you've sown now!!"  She's more of an anti-hero, punishing those who deserve it!!

Mental illusions to confuse the mind, "Are you sure you really saw what you say you saw??"
