  1. Re: Brainstorm: The Black Paladin Recruits! In my time line I had Black Paladin show up at the Pennsic War (the annual gathering for folks in the Society for Creative Anachronism.. about 13,000 of them) and offer enchanted armor and weapons to any who be willing to swear an oath of feality to him. I ended setting him up with twelve dark apostles.
  2. Re: "Look, up in the sky! It's Super Saint!" Christian-themed heroes I never meant to offend, but heroes to some are villians to others. Any group good, evil or inbetween taken to an extreme is a bad thing. Though on the other side of that coin no matter what the outcome of their actions there will always be some group that will find them to be "their" heroes.
  3. Re: "Look, up in the sky! It's Super Saint!" Christian-themed heroes I placed a variant of the Christian themed SG Rapture from the old Elmentals series in my time-line. They were introduced to the public on the 700 club and then a few weeks later destroyed an abortion clinic. My players haven't run across them yet though, perhaps in time.
  4. Re: help w/hero builder.. Never mind.. totally idiot.. found the info I needed elsewhere...
  5. Just bought the download and cannot get the thing open with winzip.. any thoughts?
  6. Re: What would you recommend? I just started running a new game, with five players. All have gaming experience but none with Hero. I started them all with 150 pts and 150 Disads. 50 pts max active and 50 pts max in any disad catagory. I'm in the process of running them through their first adventure. Recovering a downed military plan with a few nukes on it that crashed into the ruins of LA (major earthquake a while back). They get to fight some low to mid ranged gangers, with one Cybered up "boss", a few mutants and then for a future tie in a grp of agents running with a small Mech very close to the crash site. When then they get all of this done I plan on dropping 50 more pts on them to flesh out their characters more. That way they can "fix" any weakness they may think they have. Also.. I set a resistant defense cap on characters based on their stats. For the this grp it 30 - (spdx2 + DCV) = Resist Cap. This way the martial artist or speedster doesn't some how have the same Resist def that the Brick has.
  7. Re: Most Embarassing Champions Moment 1989... My first Champ game, playing a Brick.. I had no understanding of rD at the time and the GM missed it when he okay'd my character. Our grp is fighting a bunch of fairly low lvl street punks, two which cyber'd up. One is using a morning star as a weapon. Keep in mind I am feeling like a minor god for having trashed three punks with baseball bats already so as I turn and see the morning star swing in my direction I thought it would be cool to counter punch the head of the morning star.. I pictured the metal shattering into hundreds of pieces, lol.... I recall my comment was, "What do you mean what are my resistant defenses?" Needless to say my hand liquified and good part of my forearm shattered. Quick retirement for that one ;-)

  9. Re: Is defeating a Master Villain sometimes counterproductive? Given that the major MV's rarely make a direct appearence and when they do it usually takes the combined might of many hero's, teams and usually a few villians as well to fight them off, resulting in a few deaths before it's all said and done. So, having your team or your players go head to head unless they have years of experience probably won't happen that often, but with that said if your team did take out a major MV it would at the minimum raise a few eyebrows from the other remaining MVs.
  10. Re: Best SuperHero Fights ever Superman vs Captain Marvel at the end of the Kingdom Come series.
  11. Re: But I want to play Champions Suggest to your normal group of players that you would like one of them to run a side adventure in your current game. Everyone runs their normal players, the guest GM can use their own character as a NPC to drive the story and you bring in character to play in their stead. It might be only for a night or two, but should give you the fix you need. If everyone has a good time perhaps some of your other normal gamers will take turn running a side game. Biggest issue would be set up boundries on what they can and cannot do in "your" world. -Justicebringer To survive is not enough, life must have purpose
  12. An attact that has AP and Penetrating vs FF with one lvl of Hardened def. Is there a particular method for deciding which advantage you would allow vs which one you would not? My thanks for any input.
  13. Re: How to handle RKA? In an early game (15+ years ago.. god, I'm old.. ) we had a player who had a bad habit of killing off the villians we encountered. He would never do this in front of us (his fellow teammates) so we couldn't step in and treat him like the villian that he actually was. The Archvillian of the time ended up hiring an assasin to take care of the offending character. Take Iceman and the Joker, combine them and you now have one less psycho character in your game. He left a video tape of the character killing off a villian next to his frozen (and shattered) remains. We never really tried all that hard to find his killer.
  14. Re: When you think "Superhero".... Not just character but strength of character. Not just having powers but being able to be in control 24/7... not just doing the right thing at the right time but doing the right thing everytime. What is the difference between a superhero and a supervillian. It could just be one bad day.... You go out and rescue puppies, create a negative vortex to lesson the effects the last few hurricanes, etc... and then you have one bad day.. someone in the drive through behind you is playing the bass on their stereo so loud you can't even order your Mcfries and BAM! You are now a supervillian.
