  1. Re: Supervillain Images Absolutely.. they're villains... post 'em here! Richard
  2. Re: What is it about Champions? "Roll, you bastard?" LoL.. That's awesome. I love Rolemaster. I've heard it called chartmaster and and rulesmaster, but never the other one. I dislike d20 myself. Richard
  3. Re: What is it about Champions? Oh , I don't know... not all the responses are like that. I was in a Yahoo chat room the other day ("the comic shop" or some such) and I asked if anyone played Champions. I got one reply from an individual who said he would love to play Champions. Said he had purchased HERO 5th ed recently but hasn't had the opportunity yet to fully explore it. That's promising. Saul Goode
  4. Re: Supervillain Images I take it the Aerie are a bunch of bird-themed villains? Cool idea. Would like to know more about them. Richard
  5. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Doctor Gravitic is the premier villain in my world. He's a technological wizard but concentrates his work on gravitic fields. He's fashioned himself power armor that allows him to make use of his creativity. He's been in business as a villain since the late 70's and this armor is his most recent build. Storn, you've done a fantastic job here. When I opened the e-mail my first thought was "very odd." Then I looked at it some and realized it was really exactly what would fit Dr. G best. Its almost alien in appearance, but that's great because of his superior grasp on technology. The colors are great. Thanks again! For both Dr. G and Archangel, I gave Storn a description of their abilities and a vague description of how I saw them. Then I let Storn know it was alright to pull the kid gloves off his creativity. I am very satidfied with both results.
  6. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. LLuthor is actually me... LoL.. you gave away my secret ID! That's just my e-mail address. Great work, Storn! Thank you very much. He's right on to the vague description I gave you. For those who are not me or Storn, Archangel is a sort of Batman character with sorcery instead of gadgets. He's the fifth hero to wear the Archangel moniker since the 1920's. He patrols the streets of Arcane City. This Archangel has, of course, updated the outfit for the 2000's. Thanks Storn! Can't wait to see Doctor Gravitic.
  7. During a battle with Menton in Millenium City, Defender trips. Reflexively, he flails out and does serious damage to a nearby Cadillac. WWFD? (What Would Foxbat Do)
  8. So I'm putting together a British government super hero group for my campaign world. I'm calling them MI-21. To that end, I'd like to hear some British super hero ideas. I have a couple already, but I'd like some variety coming from HEROdom Assembled. This is what i have so far... Lion Rampant, power armored melee guy. Pip, random powers every day girl. Friction, speedster guy who can generate lots of heat. Thanks for your ideas! Also, should MI-21 allow Australian, (British) Canadian, Indian, etc. heroes into their august body?
  9. Goldstrike is pretty cool. Its a little 80's, I think. But I like it. I like themed teams if they aren't overused. The Pride is a good example, I like them as well. Lioness reminds me of a villain I use in my world named Bast. Actually, Bast could almost go into either group and I'll post her pic here to show you why. Bast. She exercises mental control over the feline world. She can communicate with them and have them do her bidding. Given a few moments, she can "broadcast" a call for assistance and every stray house cat in the area will come to her in a swarm.
  10. LoL... I guess posting supervillain images isn't as popular as posting superhero images. And thanks, Redmenace and lemming. These guys have been characters plaguing the heroes in my world since 1993. After a decade of using descriptions and poorly drawn pictures I decided to get a pro to do them up for me. Ian did a pretty good job, I think. Now let's see some more supervillains!
  11. Well, if you want to see a home brew method, check out the thread on my own version of combat speed. It works pretty well so far and does make combat flow quickly. Try it out.
  12. Inspired by the Superhero Images thread, let's see what your villains look like! Novus Ordum is one the greater menace groups in my campaign. Their primary goal is the deconstruction of the government. They aren't exactly anarchists because they believe that once the power vaccuum exists, they can move in and "do it better." You can think of them as one of these nutty militia groups, only with super powers. Fifth Column. He's the leader of the group, both strategically and tactically. He his highly skilled in martial combat, and his strength and endurance are heightened to just greater than human maximum. He takes the same name as the Golden Age Nazi sabotuer but is generally acknowledged to not be the same man. Thunder God. He exercises control over weather, but has propensity for using lightning to various destructive effects. He is also amazingly strong and has been known to be able to lift and throw city buses. He has an ego the size of California. Black Guard. Very little of the man remains in the machine. He is probably the most destructive of the group and is all too often willing to prove it. All that metal in his body must play havoc with any humanity he has left. At least as strong as Thunder God, Black Guard's greatest strength lies in his ranged firepower and will usually keep to the air to maximize his capabilities. Doctor Hephaestus. Also known as the Alchemist, he is the classic mad scientist, but with a decided mystical inclination. He has no compunction against experimentation, often with horribly lethal results. His forays into magical life created the Golems, a group of constructs who turned against their creator to become a force for good. It is suspected that Hephaestus may have discovered a method to extending his life. Insecta. She'll never be a super model again. Insecta is an unfortunate victim of one of the Alchemist's many experiments. She has been "re-educated" into believing heroes are responsible for her condition and is unusually loyal to Doctor Hephaestus. She is hideous at full size, but when she shrinks to 6" tall, her features become fully insectoid, including gaining a pair of usable wings. She lives a tormented life. (Artwork by the very cool Ian Sokoliwski.)
  13. English to Latin? Yeah, this is a decent site, and it covers several languages. Meanwhile... This is a business card found on a crime scene.
  14. Nosferatu! That's the answer!! Thanks, Corven... gotta go!
  15. LoL... An elegant solution, but not exactly what I want. I just want people to fall down where they're standing, not go flying off in different directions. The earth rumbles, and they all fall down.
  16. As an aside, and just as "flavor," I was thinking that her pistol would have Righteousness etched into the barrel and the rifle would have Penance engraved on it. Kind of reminds me of the old Dark Horse comic Black Cross. He had "vaya con dios" written on the stock of his AK.
  17. Hey I'd like to thank everyone who participated in my character naming. I think I'm going to go with Sister Mercy. It has a lot of innuendo and irony in the name that I like. Thanks!
  18. Its not where I saw it, but I believe its the Power structure I was thinking of. Flash 8d6 (Touch Group), Does Knockback (+1/4), Explosion (+1/2), Double Knockback 2x KB (+3/4) (60 Active Points); 6 Charges (-3/4), Beam (-1/4) Being a touch group Flash is odd to me, and I'm not sure why. It Flashes your ability to feel and handle things. So you go numb, I guess? What if I simply want to knock people down without harming them? Would I build it as Telekinesis (only to move objects to a "prone" position)?
  19. I saw someone's post of a Power build that I cannot find now. And of course now is when I need it. To sum up, all the Power does is knock people over. It had Double Knock Back as an Advantage. It some kind of attack Power but it did no real damage. It was written up to represent concussion grenades? My mind is failing me... Can anyone help out here? Who was that masked Power?
  20. In Practice Well, I used this Speed system in the game today. Only a couple problems came up. The first one is END expenditure. The only issue with it are the Powers that spend END over a period of time such as in defensive Powers. The problem comes up when a player starts bidding unused actions for bonuses. The argument is that if you've combined actions into panels or splash pages, you have less actual action to expend your END on for Powers like Force Field. To fix this, we just pro-rate the cost over the length of the Turn. I also give the option to turn on or turn off defensive Powers during any "card call." The risk here is not having your defense on when its needed. Pro-rating requires a little mathwork, but nothing heinous. Also, after playing with it, I think its best to limit how many cards may be bid on any single action. A single action card may be bid to create a panel. And no more than two cards may be bid to create the splash page. The problem we had was that too often players would simply splash page their entire hand into a single, brutal attack that would overwhelm the NPC villain as soon as their first card came up. True, they'd have no actions left for the turn, but they'd have put down an opponent or more. With a maximum on card bidding, it doesn't get out of hand. Also, I've reduced the amount of xp bonus for a splash page to .3. With these two fixes in mind, it seems to work fairly well. Combat is quick and speed becomes unpredictable. Has anyone else tried it yet?
  21. Some good ones here so far. Can't use Templar because I've already got a character by that name. Crusader was one of the ones I had been thinking of before I posted this thread, but it doesn't roll off the tongue right. I like Penance a lot. Last Rites is cool. Benediction is interesting. Its interesting that ghost-angel mentions Sister Mercy. The reason is that Kevin Sanborn was the artist on the Sister Mercy Winters card for the Deadlands ccg. It was also one of the names I had been considering. I'm glad I do't have to hurt anyone for suggesting Sister Christian. Although Twisted Sister was good for a chuckle. Magdalene is interesting. Kind of goes along with Lilith which was one that I was thinking of. Something Latin would be cool. freakboy, did you color the picture? If so, please post it. I'd liek to see what she looks like with the dark red armor.
  22. Storn... Just curious, why do you name all your pictures "lores?" Is it something obvious I'm not seeing?
  23. That's actually a pretty cool Power idea. Its seen a lot in tv and film. Speaking of Arthur Fonzarelli, does the character also have the power to (for instance) thump a jukebox to make it start playing? Its not broken, but would be a similar ability. The Thump reminds me of Madison Jeffries (Box (IV)) a bit. Always a favorite.
  24. I just received this print from professional artist Kevin Sanborn and I intend to use it as a character in my Champions world. The trouble is, I cannot come up with a suitable name for her. The idea is that she is a Punisher-type vigilante character. When I get around to statting her, she'll likely have a gun mult-power or twoo. She wears armor for protection, and she'll have suitable amounts of skills. Fairly straight forward. But I need a name for her and I know you folks can come up with a great one among you. So please take a look at the picture, and start posting some responses. Thanks!
