Re: Scenarios For Power Outage? What you forgot to mention is the "why" , if there is a total loss of power, than threre is a major reason. Alien envasion, a Master Villian sucking up all the energy for his evil plan? The high Tech absolutely safe atomic plant is going critical for unknown reasons. If I was a hero and it happened I wouldn't waste time on looters and people stuck in traffic but find out why it is happening and fix it!

Really, you all are, I have not seen one idiodic post (excpet, of cource for mine, but I dont count!) What should be known is that HERO games is made for players and GM's to make what ever they want, and call it anything they want. A Energy Blast can be used against PD, it has to be defined that when the chacter is made, along with KA. As for SFX, that is determined when the chacter is made and the Gm aproves it, I can see a hand attack being energy, but the main reason they have it listed that way is because it is a adder to STR a physical attack. If you want it to effect ED the GM may say ok to change your str damage to a energy attack, but you would have to state it does that all the time, you can't change the attack type after the chacter is made unless you totally rehach the chacter, (As in remake, between games)

Re: Which published characters do you use? I hasve used most of them, but I have had to Tweak the Villians. Most times hero is really good at making chacters while others you look at and say, what the?? I still remember the first book that let you play the chacters as villians or Heros. My first chacter was Armildilo! Liked to tunnel behind villians and that yell "Surprise!! The great Armildillo has outwitted you!!!" With growns coming from my friends playing Sunbust and Defender..hehe, good times!!

Re: A Thread for Random Musings I'm in Vegas, and all I can say is that you don't go to a Casino on any holiday. Especially a holiday that is on a Friday. Bad traffic, stupid tourists, and drunk guys who think its ok to yell at the top of there lungs as they walk threw. I don't work in a Casino so I am except....Yaaaaaa! Most area effect attacks can not be missile deflected. But lets say a Viper agent throws a gernade at the hero, should that hero be able to missile deflect the gernade? Would you allow a chacter to missile deflest a car thrown bye a brick? Isn't missile deflection just a way to Block ranged attacks? But dont forget, can missile deflection effect a hand attack, espeiclly if the attacker is using streching?

Re: Blocking Move Throughs: An Optional Rule The nice thing about HERO system is that any power can have any special effect, the same for martial maneuvers. A move threw attack in considered a hand attack, the same as move-bye. Relize that a move threw is very easy to block since the distance givess a - to OCV. Example is that a barbarian does a move threw with his battle ax, the defender a paladine states he blocks with his shield, should anyone of us as a GM say "You can't block that!" In a super game a Brick rushes the martial artist, are we going to state that he can't? A block is a good defence for hand attacks, but it has its negatives also, you block you can't attack, if you abort than being able to attack first is kind of mute. Now if the Colossus, a villian with growth...lets say 8 levels and decides to stomp Black hawk a martial artis, if he said, "I block" well let him block and still get flaten as the entire area is damaged bye the stomp. Blaock and Dodge have only one thing in common, they are both purely defensive maneuvers. They do two totally different things, Dodge adds to the DCV and block is a "to hit" roll to negate the hit. Re: A very strange build for critiquing. Well, thats no fun!! I would suggest you stay with simple things for a new game, it doesn't take much for a party to turn a simple item into a GM nightmare. Also relize as the GM you don't have to have...everything written up if you want the player to have a magic sword that talks just let him know what the sword can do as a ...focus, and keep the strange quirks to yourself, makes it a little better. But what do I know? I have rock in the head!

As for the frieght train aspect, um, you can't block a area effect attack, like a frieght train or gozilla wanting to step on you, you better off diving for cover! Missile deflection for a hand attack is well....corney Block and throw is a very valid defence against movethrews but relize if you block it than the attack did "not" hit so the attacker takes no damage from the attack. Throwing is much better only if you still have an action on that phase, while blocking can be a abort action.

Re: A very strange build for critiquing. If you really want the sword to work get rid of the telephathy and take mind link..... Then slowly start to take over the chacter because his mind is totally accessed threw the mind link. You can latter get someone who has mental powers or mental awareness notice the evil taint of the sword effecting the user. Your best bet is to give this sword to A NPC who the party has to rescue because he has gone mad, than just wait droolking when a new person picks it up and the "sword" tries to talk it's way into getting a better host. "Thank the Gods, you saved me from that maniac!! He killed my poor owner and I was forced in the hands of that monster, oh woe is me! and my poor master! So are you my new owner? Oh, I think the big guy over there can use me much more effective!!

Re: Oddity: Regeneration Configurations I don't think that Hero was too worried about healing body to much, since it is really hard to do body, especially if you have a little resistant defences. Like for instants to bricks going at it, both have 60 str and both have PD's of 30, One guy gets knocked out and the victor keeps Haymakering the guy in the head 12d6 + 4d6 = 16d6, now thats about 16 body x it bye 2 and it equals 32, now unless the guy getting pounded has low body it will take forever to kill him, unless you have a house rule that says a chacter takes body after he goes negative so much, but I am rambling. Regeneration starts to loose it purpose if you buy that much on that time frame, if you lost that much body and need to regenerate it than I think you are in the wrong system.....lol

Re: Anyone combine Champs with Call of Cuthulu? huh, does anybody remember 3D Hero? One of the universe's was a realm totatly taken over by strange unusual creature. Some humans were running around with spikes from there flesh that made them want to embed themselves other's, which transfered the virus? Were the survivers were slowly going insane and bugs would come swarming from mouths and the big bad guy head could pop off and run away, wasn't a very happy universe! I had a good time running that, the group was checking out a building that one of the Focus people lived at and he was hoping to gather charges for his weapon systems. In the elevator a giant spider demon ripped out the floor and tried to eat one of the party. The Teleporter "jumped up" to the top floor, and started dumping computer monitors down the shaft (This was early computers, when they easily weighed 10-20lb's) and rolled a bloody 3 to hit!! Bada a Bing, Banda boom the Spider wents SPLAT!

Sucide is a person who "wants" to die, now if he was say burning in pain and just wanted to end it, than that is one ticket to hell. But what do I know? I have rocks for brains!
