  1. Re: Favorite Sci-Fi Weapon You can't go wrong with a lightsaber, and the Force Lance is the Swiss army knife of science fiction, but here are two that put a smile on my face. 1) The Lancer from Gears of War. A useful assault rifle, with a chainsaw attachment. Just playing the game will make you grow a beard. Plus, it's very useful if you're a homicidal lumberjack. 2) The 30 second bomb from Starship Troopers. I just like the idea of a bomb that lets you know how soon you'll die with loving, almost C-3POesque politeness. and, if goofy weapons are permitted, the Quad Laser from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. "The bullet is enormous, there is no escape!"
  2. Re: Weapon Damage in Traveller Hero In both Star Hero and Terran Empire, plasma/fusion guns were done as EBs. Whether underpowered or not, it seems like it's staying true to the original Hero plasma guns. Maybe that's where the choice came from. I thought it was interesting myself, I started playing Traveller with Traveller T20, and the FGMPs did like 20d12 worth of damage or something...simply insane in a d20 world, it could blow up a tank in that game without much effort-probably the idea. Incidentally that was an abnormally long sentence. I abused many a comma back there...tragic.
  3. Re: Traveller Hero Core Books Now Available! Maybe someone can answer this- it says that purchasing the bundle (hard copy and pdf) is available, but I don't see an option to purchase a bundle like that. I only see options to buy the pdf. Any help? A link or something? I wants it. I wants it bad...
  4. Re: Wild Force - HELP! If you're going for a Shaman/warrior theme, then maybe more organic force based powers. I can't remember where, but in the Jedi D20 book it mentions powers based on plant growth, animal empathy, even weather control (that's more of a dark side power, I think it was called "Force Storm," but it could be adapted pretty darn easily). I don't know about the planet that your race comes from, but maybe the FX of a characteristic boosting power could be your character assuming the attributes of notable beasts on the planet...Hope this helps Bill (a.k.a. Bill)
  5. Re: Wrestling HERO I've been working on a wrestling adaptation myself, and thought I'd chime in. Finsher Submissions- In Pro Wrestling, submissions punish, but don't cause permanent damage. I think that joint holds (nnds) work fine for normal holds (surfboards, Boston Crabs, etc), but the money submissions (stfs, sharpshooter, anklelock) could be done as a Drain Ego power, with modifiers (continuous, must be holding an opponents limb, must make a KS:submission, whatever). I got the idea from a character in Predators, a sort of master of torture. When the victim of the hold loses enough of his ego, he gives up/taps out (depending on era).
  6. Re: Help Me Populate A Creepy Hotel Everyone's Grandpa One of the guests is a healthy looking man in his seventies. He waits casually in the lobby, cutting pieces off of an apple with a pocket knife. Any person who talks to him gets the distinct impression that he's taller than they are-regardless of height. He'll offer the person a piece of his apple. Should they accept and eat it, he then tells the person a story about their childhood that only a close relative would know.
  7. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I had an old GM that didn't always get things right. We were playing a Rifts game, and he set up this final showdown conversation between two soldiers. My GM is playing both gentlemen. Bad Guy Soldier: we meet again, Lieutenant. Lt. So and So: Yes. BG: I see you've been promoted to Sergeant. Congratulations. For the one person out there that doesn't know, a Lieutenant outranks a Sergeant. Let the heckling begin. Player 1: Ooh, reverse psychology, pretty sneaky. Me: At least he wasn't promoted to Private. Also, in a DnD game, the same GM describe a Drow lair as being lit by Braziers, which he pronounced Brah-Zeers. Heckling again ensued. Me: *sigh* those crazy frat Drows.
  8. On the ammunition tables, where it gives the price of an object based on rounds, there is something that baffles me. On the higher part of the chart, the area with the most rounds, there is a number followed by another number (i.e. 30/9). I feel like I'm missing something, and I don't know what it is! Please help! Thanks Bill
  9. Re: Starting equipment and prices Thanks alot, guys. I'll be checking those shortly!
  10. I'm planning on running a Pulp game, but I haven't bought the book yet. I'm unsure about the best way to give players starting equipment, and am also unsure about appropriate costs for future equipment. Is this covered in the book? Or, do any of you have a useful system. Any help would be sweet.
  11. With alot of the Robot character examples there is a disadvantage called "Experience Points" (example: page 196 Terran empire), but I can't find any sources to verify what it exactly means! I assume that it means that all experience points need to be diverted to that disadvantage before anything else. What book is that described in? Or, if not in a specific book, what does it mean exactly? Thanks.
