  1. Re: presence attack You make your presence attack whenever it is dramatically appropriate. If the guy with 9 Dex makes a scary face at the beginning of the segment, then he can make his presence attack before everyone else takes an action. Then, when Dex 9 comes around, he takes his normal action.
  2. Re: The Champion Protocols (ie how to take down your character) Dreadnought: Just give him a good shock to deal with him. It won't kill him, but electricity can bring him down pretty quickly.
  3. Re: WWYCD: The Champion Protocols Dreadnought would phone up the head of his company's R&D department and ask how their cure for some of his weaknesses is coming (ie. try to buy off his vulnerability off with exp), then make sure the rest of the team understands the danger. He'd then try to form a group of most of Millenium City's heroes to hunt for whoever is responsible.
  4. Re: Speaking of Languages What if Black Harlequin attacks Estonia and you need to use your knowledge of model trains to stop his latest creation?
  5. Re: Sure signs that your player doesn't want to be in your 350 pt champions game. All he needs is the internet. The other characters can just put him down near the villain, and the computer can activate his Mind Control, Only to Get Target to Waste Time.
  6. Re: Expressing English Language in Hero Terms Not the way I play. The Hero System can be a VPP that can be used to simulate any genre, has extra time (because few people can make characters for a new game in single phase), and has usable by others (you your friends can play too).
  7. Re: Expressing English Language in Hero Terms Would foreign languages be all the alternate rules people come up with?
  8. Re: An Immaterial Question One of them protects you from orbital bombardment, and the other one protects everyone else.
  9. Re: Help with a name please Solar Flare (or Flair, if you want a less serious name)
  10. Re: Battle of Detroit Dead List? I remember reading about one of the Meteormen being killed during the battle, I think it was #2.
  11. Re: Balancing Threats Thanks, both of you. I was just trying to get a feel for what you guys thought were generalized point ranges. And Duke, my problem wasn't not knowing what to do if the power levels turned out to be inappropriate, it's just things like this have happened in most of the fights so far. I'd just rather not have to change a villain's stats in the middle of combat when things don't go his way.
  12. Re: Another Clarification: Narrative meaning of combat Phase. My impression is that in those segments, the character is recovering from his action in segment 4. Say a brick with speed 3 swings at a speedster in segment 4, the brick misses, and takes a few seconds to recover his balance and return to his "ready position".
  13. Re: WWYCD: Hero with "Questionable" Political Views You should check out the Ultimates. In Volume 1, Banner gets pissed at Thor and goes into a rant about how Thor had a psychotic break when he was younger, and he just thinks he's Thor reborn. Banner claims that his powers come from something else entirely, I think it's being a mutant. Also, Defender doesn't believe in magic, despite the fact that he works with Witchcraft. As for the question, it depends what the view is. If it wasn't something that could conceivably interfere with the character's hero work, then Dreadnought would let it go. If he thought it could go against the team's interests, he'd have a private chat with the other character. Of course, given the other characters in the party, that chat would probably accomplish nothing.
  14. Re: I don't have the ultimate brick There's the attack from ultimate brick or USPD where the brick grabs a handful of loose material (or makes some loose material ) and throws it at the enemy. It's two powers in a multipower. If the stuff is blunt, it's an EB, if it's sharp, then it's an RKA. Both have Cone and No Range.
  15. Hi, everyone. My group is fairly new to Hero, and I'm still trying to figure out what constitutes a challenge, without being overpowering. My group is either 3 or 4 350 point heroes. About what point range should a solo threat be? What about a small group of villains? How many mooks represents something that they will actually have to put some effort into? Any thoughts on the issue would be welcome.
