    Null Gull

This seagoing bird uses their power to nullify the superpowers of others which can be fatal in the air or underwater. Null Gull will give people one warning but after that anything goes.

Incomplete ? A battleship that was never commissioned looking to increase his powers. Nice.

    Blow Crow

This villain has wind powers and uses the beak to project forth the power unlike Rodan for example who uses his wings. Sadly there are those who have made money off this villain by implying drug use or procreative abilities. And if he had a psychotic killing streak he could have made an example of one or more of them but he does not have that.

She is the supervillain Boltcross. A expert at shooting crossbows, she is also a trained acrobat and martial artist. She specializes in thievery and challenging other marksmen types. She is also for hire, but is no assassin. She never personally kills, and will not work with/for known killers.

...on the other hand, she won't stop someone else from killing if it is needed.

This hero is not the inventor of the equipment merely the person most qualified to use it. They went through a gruelling training regime and countless hours of target practice in order to master the crossbows and trick bolts that they would be called on to use. Their name is unknown but she answers to Sarah. It appears she was either a police officer or soldier/marine as they know how to act in combat situations but they do not shoot to kill but bring down an opponent. All other information like tragic family background or witness to criminal activity has been removed from public and even private access. Even telepathy and mind control will not reveal the truth.

imperio is a large brick of Italian decent with the ability to breave water as well as air, and is a fast swimmer. Somehow he feels like he is incomplete, and is searching for a way to increase his powers.

    Next team: Word Birds
    Number: 6-8
Text: A group of bird theamed villains who's names all rime (for example, Illegal Eagle, Arrow Sparrow, Licken Chicken). That is the only requirements.

    The Legionnaire of the Damned

This soldier knows that he is going to die. Every time he goes into battle he knows he may die but he knows not when. He can use any weapon from a stone age axe to a futuristic blaster to even cursed magic weapons with no problem at all. But there is a voice in his head telling him that it is not going to last and that he is doomed. He is with the others as they understand the mental torment that he is going through.

It also became kind of a running gag among Champions fans that Seeker was often shown having been beaten up on the covers of Champions books.

OK. I'm ready for some teams.

The Brain Trust: The Overmind and Lynx are older, and Mr. Zombie never ages (funny how Steve Long's pet Soloman Grundy doesn't have Regeneration). While Ape-Plus is probably past his lifespan, he probably repeated his technique and created Ape-Plus-Plus. Only Black Mist would probably have passed on. Which is the perfect chance to add anyone based on the original Brotherhood of Evil or Society of Sin which would fit (both DC villain teams closely related , I'm avoiding the Brotherhood of Dada cause that seems to be the bases of Paragon Raiders group). New members idea:

Bouncer: Man given a rubber body by chemical experiments. A cross between Madam Rouge and Monkey D. Luffy with a side order of "brick" and Speedball (with all the bouncing).

Paindriver: Man who can project pain into whoever hurts him. Also can quickly recover from said pain...even if it would be normally kill him.

Nicknack: Midget mad scientist and student of the Overmind.

The Circle of the Scarlet Moon: Under new management, but the same old evil mystical organization. Roger and Martika Duqussne are dead, and Roger's Rune-Axe is now in the posession of Pamula Dunqussne. The old Archdruid Airetach is also long gone from the world of flesh, but his ghost can be called upon from time to time by Scarlet Moonies in the know. They went back to there secret mystical war with the Trismegistus Council.

Cirque Sinister: Since they were a young group before 2020, they are still around in 2050. The current lineup is Amnesia, Cauldron, Flow, Minimax, and Telka (Bobby Holmes all grown up) and Giga (Bobby Holmes' summoned TK giant).

The Crimelords: While the original team is long since disbanded, the name keeps on being used by young supervillain teams who want to be just like they were, or who just can't think up another name. Out of all the members, only Morgaine is still semi-active, and mostly between vacations to Faerie. Warhammer might still have a half-functional armor on Earth somewhere...

The Crowns of Krim: They been bamboozled by The Devil's Advocates into letting there crowns be destroyed in 2024 or so. Out of all of them, only Dennis Walthingham, Barronet of South Mallon retained some mystical powers, othoe the ex-Dark Seraph is forced to work in the shadows more and more. The rest met there end either by old age, there own excesses, or by slaughtering each other.

Deathstroke: Requiem and Frost have fully embraced the pro-Mutant cause 100%. There occasional strike forces have been named Deathstroke in the honor of there old team.

The Devil's Advocates: The Demonologist is still alive and active, having slowed his ageing via various means, not including academical formulas and spending more time in Faerie than other dimensions. Golem's flesh body has succumbed to rot and death, but his ghost lives on inside his stone body. Gyre has 'retired' to a more techo-mystical dimension of Clockwork. Kapilasa simply ceased to exist one day...he was physically there one moment, and gone the next. It is believed he achieved some form of anti-Nirvana and reincarnated himself into a lower life form. Tartarus had to leave the body of Jos Tehune and go back to Hell, and he took a willing soul of Jos with him. Vilsimbar went back to the Onyx Kingdom in Faerie to rule.

He recruited Stingray, kept Golem, and added the odd math mystic Ahnu Aheh Eh, and is searching for more members as we speak.

Eurostar: Still exists. Fiacho still rules the group, having to redesign his cybernetics. While the first Durak died of heart attack, he was recreated. Feuermacher died horablly as his powers physically consumed him. Mentalla still exists in the group, as does a now older Pantera and Scorpia. Ultrasonique is still around, looking for someone to pass his equipment on to. Der Westgote got upset that he wasn't made into the next "Fist of Fiacho" that he left the group permanently. They have a new recruit in White Flame, an English mutant.

The Futurists: The Fiend is still around as a solo act. Sometimes the supergroups he forms takes on the name "Futurists" from time to time. Morticus' armor still is intact, but Ethan has long since abandoned his criminal ways when one day his suit just stopped working on the job. The Fiend still has the suit, and is happy to give the identity of Morticus to the first person to fix it up.

Grab: The name has been passed down to a new generation of superthieves approved by all the surviving old members. Sometimes some groups call themselves Grab without permission, thinking somehow it is in 'public domain'...

Merc-Force 1: The name lives on as Merc-Force 3 or simply Merc-Force. The original team retiered when Stareye left for outer space, and The Cahokian returned to his original dimension. Piledriver still  does mercenary work from time to time.

Psi: Disbanded way before 2020. Most members eventually died of brain cancer. Deuce became a superhero.

Red Winter: The original team is long gone, but The Russian Organised Crime uses that name from time to time for there own supercriminal teams.

    More later.

IIRC from Steve Long's remarks on the forums when 5E Champions came out, it really came down to what characters Steve wanted in the example hero team. He also remarked that he just likes to create characters.   Steve liked Defender from 4E, so he came back mostly the same. Solitaire almost made the cut, but Steve remarked that she straddled the mystic/mentalist archetypes, and he wanted to present more of a straight mystic. He wasn't really a fan of Jaguar, Obsidian, or Quantum. Nor of Seeker, even though he wrote Watchers of the Dragon with Seeker as the central figure in the story.

But although Seeker was a fun character, he was really a mish-mash of 1980s pop-culture stereotypes that don't make much sense together: an Australian swashbuckling ninja who's also a country bumpkin, orphaned as a child in the Outback, found and raised by a wise hermit survivor of a Japanese ninja recon team from WW II.

The bit about Seeker in the new rebooted continuity was kind of an in-joke for the fans. The Champions licensed their images to be used in a comic book based on their exploits, except Nighthawk who declined. So the comic publishers created Seeker to replace him.

Fred Franks always cut things too close, but it was how adventuring worked. You had to chase the bad guy down some alley, deal with the monster with a sacred text, save the day even if it killed you. Knowing he was going to die just made Fred shed more of his caution as he went about his business. Heroing was not for the faint of heart, and Fred Franks, Parkour Jack, didn't know the meaning of fear

Now they have to also wonder if coming together this way is kind of an “appointment in Samarra” self fulfilling prophecy kind of thing.   Did the one who gave them the vision want them in that place at that particular time? Or is it a warning about a possible future?
With this set up you could either have a team who were the best of friends like the Challengers of the Unknown or hated each other like that last version of the Dr.Strange, Hulk, Namor, and Silver Surfer Defenders
Also you can do either a unified origin and set of powers or very different personalities and power sets only unified by that vision.
A nice set of variables to offer your players.

Kenji Yakamoto is Yamato. A mutant from Nagasaki, he thinks being a supervillain with his fire powers is the path to fame. The media started calling him Yamato mostly because his costume unintentionally resembles a uniform from the anime Space Battleship Yamato.

From Germany comes Gneisenau who is a fast moving energy projector that can pack a devastating punch of an attack. She is a good swimmer and can use her abilities in water but she cannot fly. She can take a fair bit of punishment but certain attacks will drain or take her down rapidly.

Anton Eccleston was a member of a group known as The Collectors who acquired high tech super technology through various means in the hopes of reverse engineering it for mass production. However the groups collective abilities failed to live up to this ambition. Frustrated Anton subjected himself to a dose of Psi Serum to salvage something out of this venture. His intelligence was enhanced greatly, but at the cost of his sanity. He was stricken by paranoid delusions, the main one being the belief that he was the son of Dr. Destroyer. When the other members of the group mocked him during his rantings Anton eliminated them. He then used tech from Dr. Destroyer, Telios and Warlord to create a bio-mechanical humaniod he dubbed The Champion. It has the ability to morph and copy the powers and skills of the Champions 2050 and past Champions as well. Anton, now calling himself Son of Destroyer sent The Champion to attack the new team. The Champions managed to just barely defeat it and then Defender was able to break it's programming. Free from Anton's control it became a member of the team. It has since renamed itself Legacy.

I'll leave a new team concept to anyone else as my well has run dry of interesting ideas at the moment.

Don't play with radioactive waste they said. Did Publius Varrus Wiston listen ? Of course not !
Don't cross the streams they warned him. Did Publius Varrus Wiston listen ? Of course not !
Don't mix the highly dangerous, toxic chemicals they advised him. Did Publius Varrus Wiston listen ? Of course not !
And above all don't do all three and desecrate a burial ground sacred to voodoo and kill several worshippers as well. Did Publius Varrus Wiston pay any attention to that ? Of course not !
Well as long as you don't leave any witnesses...... But you know where this is going now don't you ?
She was not a qualified priestess by any means but the loa were angered by Publius Varrus Wiston and not only did they hear her prayer they bolstered the curse she directed at him.
Now Publius Varrus Wiston needs a special suit to live if what you call his new existence can qualify as living as Dr Mortis

The ninja hero known as Sneaker The Wanderer is a well-trained martial artist with the mutant power of regeneration -- no matter how badly he's beaten down (and it seems he gets beaten down a lot), he gets back up to fight another day.  He uses swords, sais, and throwing stars in addition to his hands and feet to defeat many foes.  Despite his many years in America, he still retains his original Aussie accent.
