  1. Re: Missing Airliner Look for a creepy old lady with a pendulum and a physics degree.
  2. Re: Nemesis System Updated As long as it doesn't involve going into a warehouse/base/office building/cave to kill all of the bad guys and find X number of glowies, I think I'll be OK with it, even if there's a bit of overlap. =)
  3. Re: Regeneration: What am I missing? Ah, OK, then, that explains the discrepancy. Sheesh, wasn't 10 per Body much simpler? (And more in line with the usefulness of the power...)
  4. Re: Regeneration: What am I missing? Odd, I could have sworn back when 5th came out, it was at 8. Oh well, I defer to your vast system knowledge. Thanks!
  5. Re: Kinetik is up Oh, I think if they didn't change anything about the generator it'd look just fine. I know that they changed a LOT of stuff though. I'm just wondering if they made a lot of changes in the standard capes and tights stuff or if they were leaning more toward adding other stuff. No biggie either way. Every preview clip I've seen of the game is full of woot and awesome, and as long as the game play is good, they have a customer here.
  6. OK, so I wanted to give a brick I made 1 BODY/Turn Regen. I looked it up in my 5th Edition (not revised) and this is what I got: Regeneration: BODY 1d6 (standard effect: 3 points), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), Persistent (+1/2) (20 Active Points); Extra Time (1 Turn (Post-Segment 12), -1 1/4), Self Only (-1/2) Real cost came to 7 pts. Now I'm sure that when 5th came out, the cost was at 8pts for 1 Body of Regen Healing. I've still got the same 5th book. Using the suggested modifiers, I only get 7 pts real cost. I'm clearly missing something, or was missing something to start with. What's up with this build?
  7. Actually, I guess he's been up for a little while, but I just noticed him. I'm not too impressed by the costume design, mainly because the entire thing could have been done on the original COH costume generator. Makes me wonder where the focus of the new generator is? Monster costume pieces (won't use) or just being able to morph individual body parts? I'm hoping they've added new stuff for the more traditional capes and tights type costumes. Anyhoo, here's the linky: http://www.champions-online.com/heroes/kinetik
  8. Re: Which export template for HD on forum? Ok, let me give the second option a try. The text template I have doesn't look so good, so copy-pasta it is: The Blue Comet Player: Val Char Cost 50 STR 40 24 DEX 42 25 CON 30 12 BODY 4 13 INT 3 11 EGO 2 25 PRE 15 14 COM 2 25 PD 15 25 ED 20 5 SPD 16 15 REC 0 50 END 0 50 STUN 0 6" RUN 0 2" SWIM 0 10" LEAP 0 Characteristics Cost: 189 Cost Power END 15 Alien Physiology: Damage Resistance (15 PD/15 ED) 0 7 Alien Hardiness: Regeneration BODY 1d6 (standard effect: 3 points), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), Persistent (+1/2) (20 Active Points); Extra Time (1 Turn (Post-Segment 12), -1 1/4), Self Only (-1/2) 0 5 Alien Toughness: Lack Of Weakness (-5) for Resistant Defenses 0 13 Life Support Field: Life Support (Safe Environment: Zero Gravity; Safe in High Pressure; Safe in High Radiation; Safe in Intense Cold; Safe in Intense Heat; Safe in Low Pressure/Vacuum; Self-Contained Breathing; Sleeping: Character does not sleep) (23 Active Points); Costs Endurance (-1/2), IIF Unbreakable (Costume; -1/4) 2 50 Comet Flight Suit: Multipower, 62-point reserve, (62 Active Points); all slots IIF Unbreakable (Costume; -1/4) 5u 1) Combat Flight: Flight 25", combat acceleration/deceleration (+1/4) (62 Active Points); IIF Unbreakable (Costume; -1/4) 6 5u 2) Non-Combat Flight: Flight 5", x512 Noncombat, rapid Noncombat movement (+1/4) (62 Active Points); IIF Unbreakable (Costume; -1/4) 6 5u 3) FTL Travel: Faster-Than-Light Travel (2 Light Years/second) (62 Active Points); IIF Unbreakable (Costume; -1/4) 0 Powers Cost: 105 Cost Skill 5 +1 with HTH Combat 3 Criminology 12- 3 Deduction 12- 3 Interrogation 14- 3 KS: Galactic Law 12- 3 Language: English (American) (completely fluent) 2 Navigation (Space) 12- 5 Paramedics 13- 3 PS: Intergalactic Police Officer 12- 3 Shadowing 12- 3 Streetwise 14- 3 Tactics 12- 3 Teamwork 14- 2 TF: Science Fiction & Space Vehicles 4 WF: Beam Weapons, Energy Weapons Skills Cost: 48 Cost Perk 8 Fringe Benefit: Interstellar Police Powers Perks Cost: 8 Total Character Cost: 350 Val Disadvantages 25 Hunted: Viper 8- (Mo Pow, NCI, PC has a Public ID or is otherwise very easy to find, Capture) 20 Hunted: Russian Mob 8- (As Pow, NCI, PC has a Public ID or is otherwise very easy to find, Harshly Punish) 15 Hunted: Villain TBD 8- (As Pow, PC has a Public ID or is otherwise very easy to find, Harshly Punish) 10 Physical Limitation: Knows Little of Earth Culture (Frequently, Slightly Impairing) 20 Psychological Limitation: Code Vs. 9. Champions Online has a new blog. Today's entry is about the most recent updates to the nemesis system: http://championsonlinedailynews.com/nemesis-arriving-early/#continue
  10. Crossposting this since HD forum seems slow: OK, I'm probably missing something really obvious here, as everyone else seems to know how to do this. Since HTML is turned off in the forums, what's everyone using as an export format to display their HD character sheets on the forums nowadays? I tried a search, but didn't get good results.
  11. Re: Offline CoX Character Generator Well, the first hit on Google if you put in "City of Heroes character creator" is that page. If NC Soft doesn't want it up, they could have it removed. Not our job to enforce their copyright. And "illegal" is a bit strong of a word to use for a civil issue. I'm going to assume that if NC Soft hasn't taken steps to have the download taken off the site in question, they don't care too much about it. EDIT: Removing site URL. It's in VA, so not exactly hard for them to slap a DCMA on the guy hosting the file if they want to. Edit: Apparently, NCSoft keeps gamers hours. I'll call them back at noon Central time and simply ask them if they care that this guy is distributing the freebie now. Edit: Ok, I left my info with their tech support who is going to forward it to their legal department. So, when (if) they contact me back, I'll update the thread and let you all know if it's OK with NCSoft to use the file.
  12. Re: Adventure Ideas For The Late 80s And The Berlin Wall Hmm, I worked all night in our unit armory, handing out weapons to the other MPs who were working all night guarding stuff that wasn't in much real danger. I'd suppose the biggest problem would have been someone using the commotion as cover for some bigger plot. Like maybe a supernatural organization sneaking from one side to the other to steal some mystical Nazi artifact from a museum or the like.
  13. Re: So what concepts are you tempted to play on the MMORPG anyway? I'm leaning toward my first hero, ever. The Blue Comet. (Inspired by my pajamas around age five or so. They were blue. With a comet.) Flying brick. Member of the Comet Corps. He has the powers of brickiness and flying. And smashing through cardboard box walls. Here's a version I whipped up in HD. Basic Flying Brick Intergalactic LEO: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1844546&postcount=3
  14. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? The Brothers Bloom: Was OKish. Taken: Pretty fun action, love Liam Neeson, but he was a bit too indestructible in this one. Super linear action flick plot. Benjamin Button: He lived backward. He died. Meh, I'll have one plot please. Even less plot than Taken. Gimmick not enough to sell it to me and the Mrs. Pattern Ghost. Wall-E: Great fun! Finished off Season 2 of Wind at My Back: Family friendly drama set in the Depression in Canada (1932-33 so far). The actress playing Grace is worth watching it by herself. Her performance is brilliant. Steals show from the main actress. Show went five seasons. 1,2, and 4 are rentable, but nobody has seasons 3 and 5, so it's eBay for them. Wife's pick, but I approve. Primeval kicked off its 3rd season on BBC America. Dinosaurs and Futurebeasts on the loose in the UK! Maybe not great television, but good solid fun.
  15. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Involuntarily listening to a Lacuna Coil album, courtesy of my wife. Kind of hurts my ears, but she seems to like it.
  16. Re: Offline CoX Character Generator The page may not be maintained anymore. I dunno. I just found it today. It was probably tossed up a long while ago and forgotten.
  17. Re: Offline CoX Character Generator Also, I scanned it before installing it, just as a matter of course. Came back clean with latest profiles on Avira, which is one of the better free antivirus software.
  18. Re: Offline CoX Character Generator No, it's legal. It's a free download from the Korean official site. The page I linked to explains this. The functionality it has is clearly intended to be used in conjunction with the game.
  19. Re: June 2nd B-b-b-birthday gift for meh!
  20. Re: Champions Online - Server Names So, anyone have a name for this supergroup yet?
  21. OK, removing the URL from the OP. Here's what NCSoft's support had to say. Just sent me an e-mail back today (6/11): On the bright side, I was able to create another 14 day CoX trial account on my existing NC Soft master account. So, if you're a former CoXer, and just want to mess with the costume creator, the more up to date in game version is readily available.
  22. Re: So what concepts are you tempted to play on the MMORPG anyway? Hmm... I'm kicking about ten around at the moment. =P Here's to hoping we get ten character slots.
  23. Re: New Trailers! I'm pretty sure that there will be knockback and knockdown. For one, I've seen screens and other movies featuring some. For 2, these are the same guys who made CoX, and they had knockdown and knockback. I's probably just that those powers didn't end up on the video. Not all powers are going to have knockdown or knockback. And those that do, are not going to have it on the scale possible in the PnP game, because it makes combat a PITA for everyone. Even the knockback in CoX, which is what I'm guessing we'll get here as far as intensity, was a real pain for melee to deal with.
  24. Ok, these have been up for a little while now, but I just found them. Posting for the equally unobservant: http://ve3d.ign.com/videos/game/844881/PC/Champions-Online/category/10/Trailer
