  1. Re: Joe Quesada as a Disadvantage Repped. Too classic.
  2. Re: Sell me on "Galactic Champions"? Kinda, yes.
  3. Re: Sell me on "Galactic Champions"? I once had an idea for a superhero Champions game set in the 'far' future in an alternate galaxy. Where all the people in it are actually 'Humans', a sort of Transhuman place, where back in it's history humanity found that the Galaxy had no other sentient life form, so they decided to use mechanical and genetic modifications to adapt themselves to other planets. But after some major disasters, most of that history has been forgotten. Like the Robot Crusades of the 22nd Century, the Nanoclysm of the 30th. Most of the common powersets would be available, just no Magic or Chi as a power source.
  4. Re: Sell me on "Galactic Champions"? You know, sometimes one world just isn't enough to explore, sometimes seeing 'new' things and 'new' civilizations are just what some games need. Galactic Superheroes, to me, is when I want to play 'Star Wars' but not have it BE Star Wars with all the baggage that would come with it. It doesn't have to be of a grand scale, it can be just a bunch of do-gooders wandering around in a spaceship instead of having a snazzy X-mansion. YMMV.
  5. Re: Sell me on "Galactic Champions"? That's what I get for posted at 3:45AM EST. My apologies.
  6. Re: Sell me on "Galactic Champions"? And no one mentions the Starjammers of X-Men fame? For shame. I like a Galactic Champions style game, but I'm not one for REALLY powerful characters like Silver Surfer, I'm more like Nova at best.
  7. Re: Limited Psychometry (Long) I can see how it works, but forgive me, it seems too vague for what I'm aiming for.
  8. Now, a bit of background. I love Marvel Comic's Taskmaster, his power set is one of the coolest to my little mind. And I love his most recent miniseries, too. However, making his power in HERO is a nightmare. Any non-'superhuman' ability he has seen ONCE he can mimic. How do you make that? But seeing as I can't really figure it out, I've found another power set that I thought was equally cool. There was an Alita Battle Angel comic in which there was an enemy with the power of Psychometry taken to the nth degree. This fellow could learn the skill and memories of any person who handled an object through touch. Now, I decided to take THAT power and strip it down a bit for a character. First, the object has to be something owner 'loved' or had as a 'favourite' for at least one month. Any less time a 'psychic imprint' doesn't get made. Second, the objects use factors in what skills can be attained. Master swordsmanship is from a sword, master chef from cooking tools. So on and so forth. Third, no blatant super powers can be attained. 'Super' skills, yes, but they have to be reachable by the unaltered human body. Fourth, he only gets the skills and the name of the owner, and unless he keeps it on his person for a month, he cannot add or alter that skill set. So with those four stipulations in mind this is what I came up with. VPP: Psychometry Active cost: 40 Control: 20 Only for, Skills, Super-Skills or Martial Arts based abilities (Limited Class, -1/2), Must be in constant contact with appropriate object, (Can only change when he touches an item with an 'imprint, GM's call, -1/2, no guarantee the skills will be useful to him. -0) IAF: Specific weapon or item (-1/2, take it away, he loses access to whatever skills they had.), No roll required (+1) Total cost: ? Total Control cost: ? Not so sure on how these add and where, also, is there anything else I can add to this? Ads, disads? (His last bit, is that he can keep the abilities he gains permanently, but only after 1 month's worth of use. THAT 'power' is nothing more than spending XP on the appropriate tricks. )
  9. Re: Has anyone tried this style of campaign? Never tried it, but I'd love to play in it. I figure making a tank/brick in this would be easier than the last three characters I've tried to make.
  10. Re: Giant Brick Tricks What. The. HELL-O! Where is this from???
  11. Re: Comic Book powers that don't work as well in gaming Marvel Comics' Taskmaster's "photographic reflexes". I think I figured out a way of doing a form of psychometry, but I'm going to be testing it out at some point, cuz I'm not too sure on it.
  12. Re: Sticky AoE Entangles There are only a few bodily functions that could be classified as 'sticky' in this sense, thank you. As for the OP, I agree. Sticky isn't what you want, continuous is more like it. At least that's how I read the advantages. Which could be dead wrong.
  13. Re: Good News. Blue fire isn't 'psychic', blue is actually hotter than red/yellow, so this new 'colder' fire may be because she got more control over it. My question is... What happen to Agent Myers?
  14. Re: Giant Brick Tricks Actually, you can also add the basic brick tricks, like the Hulk from Marvel has used. Thunderclap: 9d6 EB (45pts), AoE: Radius (+1), Explosion (+1/2), No Range (-1/2), Personal Immunity (+1/4), Restrainable (Keep his hands apart or busy, -1/2) linked (-3/4 cannot separate effects) to 5d6 Flash vs. Hearing (Defense is ear protection) (Cost: 45 for EB+25 for Flash= 70pts.) SFX: Claps his hands together creating a deafening shockwave of sound that harms, knocks over and deafens. (Not sure I did the math right on that one...) Shockwave Strike: 9d6 EB (45pts), AoE: Radius 4" (+1 1/4), No Range (-1/2), Personal Immunity (+1/4), Restrainable (-1/2), Linked (-3/4, can't separate) to 4d6 Minor Transformation (Smooth to Rough terrain, 40pts.), No Range (-1/2), Limited Target (Ground beneath his feet, -1/4), AoE: Explosion (Don't see the cost) Total: 140 (A bit expensive...) SFX: A slam into the ground that destroys terrain and anyone standing on it, creating fissures and throwing up rocks and debris. Best I can think of at 2:48AM. Before I forget, the Brick Tricks Martial Art in the Ultimate Martial Artist still applies here.
  15. Okay, I want a disadvantage for this Pyro, to simulate his lack of control, and the constant build up of plasma-fire energy. The set up is: He has to use his abilities in some fashion or they'll build until his body starts expelling the excess fire, usually in some sort of firestorm effect. I want this to be powerful, enough to wipe out a large area, but he's got no control, and it can last up to 10 minutes or more. It was suggested on my other thread that it could be used as a Berserk, but I'm at a loss as to how to do it. Help?
  16. Re: Elemental Controls, how do they work? Perfect, that's exactly what I wanted to know. I'm still working on a Pyrokinetic, and I'm making every power he has as fire based, so...
  17. Like the title says, how do they function? Are they like Multipowers? You can only use one slot at one time, or can you double a few of them up?
  18. Re: Lots of power, little control. Sorry guys, I'm kinda stuck on the berserk drawback... Any ideas?
  19. Re: Lots of power, little control. Now THIS is what I was looking for, thanks! And I have 102 points for Powers, actually. I'm thinking of sneaking in Absorption with the Forcefield, if I can. It seems to work with his concept. And yeah, I'm liking the Berserk thing for his 'release valve' drawback. I'm thinking of making it an uber-powerful blast of heat and fire. Like a 'firestorm' or something similar. Oh, and another drawback, I should ask about what kind of disad would having to rehydrate himself constantly fall under? If he doesn't drink water within (Unknown limit, but nothing overboard) he'd take... Stun damage? That sounds OK. [Edit]Nuts, I have 40 Active powers max for attack powers, and 20 for defensive... Okay, time to do some creative editing...[/Edit]
  20. Re: Lots of power, little control. No one can help? Hrm... *Scratches head*
  21. Re: Your PC's might be underpowered if... This one wins. I'm sorry, but that was too funny.
  22. Re: Lots of power, little control. Hrm... Hmmm. Not sure if that'll work for what I have in mind... There's also the bit (which I forgot to mention) where if he doesn't release his powers for a while (No idea how long yet), he'll start to expel hideous amounts of flaming plasma energy for about 10 or so minutes. That one, I was thinking of having be an uncontrolled effect with a trigger of some sort. Also, he's completely immune to his own power. It won't burn him up, or damage him in the least, it's an instinctive self-defense mechanism so that he won't die to it. And for the record, I'm a complete FrED newbie.
  23. Re: Lots of power, little control. Clarification, as I'm not entirely understanding the first answer: His powers go nuts when he loses focus. He doesn't go nuts himself. As for the second, I'm not sure I follow...
