  1. Solo Villains Yes, I know Ankylosaur's tail looks awful. Like I said, I'll probably get around to fixing it, eventually. Ankylosaur Black Paladin Cateran Esper Fenris Firewing Foxbat And that's it, so far.
  2. The Ultimates - "We go back to first edition!" There are three areas where I wish Heromatic had more options: Wings, Helmets, and Firearms. Hell, I wish it had ANY science fiction looking firearms. As a result, I tended not to arm gun wielders. I didn't need the gun for the headshot and it wasn't worth fiddling with. Binder Blackstar Cyclone Radium Slick Thunderbolt I
  3. Psi I hated these guys to begin with. As a result, I had little desire to mess with some of the fiddly bits of their costumes (the Psi emblem, f'rinstance). These will have to do unless someone wants to play with them. Psimon Hypnos Lancer Medusa Mind Slayer Torment
  4. GRAB - "Economics is hard, let's just do some crimes!" Black Diamond Blue Jay Cheshire Cat Hummingbird
  5. Eurostar - "We don't rob banks, we destroy economies." Fiacho Durak Feuermacher Mentalla Scorpia Ultrasonique
  6. The Crowns of Krim Dark Seraph Bloodstone Eclipse Force Phoenix Temblor
  7. The Warlord and Company The Warlord Warbird Warcry Warhead Warmonger Warpath
  8. Next, Some Solo World-Beaters Gravitar Istvatha V'han Menton Takofanes the Undying Lord
  9. First Up, The Doktor Is In First up, Herr Doktor and his associates Dr. Destroyer Gigaton Rakshasa (These were pretty early in the process. Over time, I learned some shading tricks you'll see in the later efforts.)
  10. Presenting Conquerors Killers and Crooks! So, one thing I've noticed is how few people seem to want to take a crack at established CU characters. Since I figured out a way to use the Heromatic to make cool looking counters, I realized I needed artwork to use for them. And if I was going to go through that much trouble, why stop at head shots? So, without further ado, in in my ensuing posts, I shally present my progress so far on the bad guys from Conquerors Killers and Crooks, with the following notes: 1. One of two of these may be repeats I posted before I started this project. 2. With one or two exceptions, I've relied entirely on Heromatic to produce the artwork. This explains Ankylosaur's lame tail. At some point, I'll likely go into Photoshop and play around a bit more, but I didn't need to do so for my counter making. 3. In a number of cases, I had to deviate from the original character artwork or descriptions to fit my design to the limits of Heromatic. For instance, there's only one crown out there, so anyone with a crown gets it. In many cases, these are minor changes. In a few, it's fairly major, but I see that as the animation studio getting hold of the project. Villainy to follow...
  11. Re: Foxbat is up I when I read his origin, I "heard" it in Bruce Campbell's voice. I'd never considered using The Bruce for Foxbat, but now it seems like a no-brainer.
  12. I found another cool thing to do with that DC Animated style art tool. I'm coupling it with some other geek crafts to make game counters. Results at my LiveJournal.
  13. Re: User Guide for that Bruce Timm/DC Animated-Style Hero-Maker Thing For future edits: Poder means Power.
  14. 15. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine From the pages of Aaron Allston's Strike Force, it's Texas' own, the Plasma Ranger!
  16. Re: Wait - you punch WHAT?!? (or what would the damage from an atomic bomb be?) Does anyone here actually remember the original Great Nuke Debates on Usenet and Red October? Bad times, man. Bad times...
  17. Re: Iron Crown Enterprises: Consumer Catalog Summer '87 I've already got all that stuff. Nice trip down memory lane, though.
  18. Re: A song of Ice & Fire You'd have to change the number of replacements available to each PC, just to give them a sporting chance.
  19. Re: A song of Ice & Fire I was able to get a copy of the quick-start yesterday. I haven't had a chance to read it in detail, but the bits I've examined look pretty interesting. It's less crunchy than d20 or HERO, but it looks like the authors did a good job of capturing the feel of the setting.
  20. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine For some reason, I can't get the thumbnail to show the full-size image. Pity, because I lurves me some JSA.
  21. Because I haven't heard much anticipatory buzz about it. In all honesty, it's the only thing on the upcoming release list that I consider a must-have.
  22. Re: What source material informs your fantasy gaming? It depends on the sub-genre Sword & Sorcery: Howard's Conan and Kull (no one else's) Fahfrd and the Grey Mouser Elric Kane Grotty, "Realistic" Fantasy: A Song of Ice & Fire The Malazan Books of the Fallen The Black Company Shiny Fantasy: Three Hearts & Three Lions Le Morte d'Arthur The 80s Forgotten Realms comics (really)

    D&D 4th

Re: D&D 4th Absolutely. And sometimes you need a hammer, and sometimes you need a screwdriver. Thing is, I've played in Hero System games that were of the "count every hex, calculate every modifier" tactical exercise that seems to be D&D's norm these days. I've also played in D&D games where we didn't roll a die for hours because we were relying entirely on role play. I'll agree that there's a lot in 4th edition I don't recognize as part of my personal vision of D&D. But there's a lot of ways in which I'm looking forward to it. Right now, my only regular gaming fix is a weekly D&D game that is, by the necessity of scheduling, VERY gamist in outlook. We tend to do more roleplaying via email during the week than we manage at the table (we only have three hours each week of table time, and there can be as many as nine players, counting the GM). A lot of the new stuff in D&D looks really interesting from the perspective of someone who likes playing "tanks" and wants more options without having to wait until 15th level to get them. (On the other hand, right now, we're playing a game set in Sharn from the Eberron setting that I dearly wish was using Fantasy Hero instead of 3.5)
