Hello there everyone,
What or how would you define the Highlander movies/series concept?
A player would create a character, one of these swordsmen immortals
and serch the world with his special sense for other immortals and
hunt them down. Once killing each of these others they would gain
more points inwhich to build up their character. Remember in the end
there can be only one?
It could be a short but fun couple of games to play at?

Re: Alien Stereotypes
I feel the best answer is to create your own Aliens that fit your GM point of view and
tailor them to meet what you are looking for in them.

Hello everyone,
I am building a new religion for my campaign that I will convert from
v3.5 to FH. I am looked to make it one supreme Good God called
Morphious and he is opposed by a Evil God called Tol. Good vs Evil
and viewed from a Christian point of view. Now the God Morphious
uses Saints (former followers that were lifted up), and Tol uses
the Fallen (former followers that are evil). Also the Gods have other
agents as well, Morphious uses Angels and Tol uses Demons. The
religion has a heavy Christian feel to it, and it was set up that way
on purpose.
Any thoughts so far?

Re: [PAH] 50 years After
Late 1800's early 1900's tech it would be mostly as average when everything settled down,
but there would be some higher tech still around and working too. The Movie called the
Postman comes to mind as a good example of what life might be like. I still like the Flesh
Eating Zombies as a ever present threat to deal with from time to time too.

Re: Post-Apocolyptic Hero Campaign Idea:
Hello everyone,
I have been giving this concept some more thought and I like it. Oh
I might change a few things and plot twists, but I am know best as
a GM that has plots within plots within plots.
I just ordered my copy of PAH and it should ship out to me within
1-3 business days, so hopefully this time next week I can start reading
it over and begin to work on my concept. I just love Gamma World
and Metamorphosis Alpha...now I can combine PAH and Traveller Hero
together in this plot line campaign concept.
The huge Ark allows me to base both Gamma World, and Traveller
based concepts together here. The PCs would be from a TH/SH
background makeup.
Add in the Alien derlict (another Alien Ark) and one can double the
fun and adventure. The elements that I would want to throw into
the overall plot mix are:
--- Caniabuss plague (Flesh eating Zombies - always fun)
--- Alien critters (Bug hunt - squish them if you can)
--- Mutant decendants of former Flight generations crew
--- Werebeast plague (another fun time)
--- Damage and radiation hazords, and lots of system failures
--- AI that has a few screws loose and a few Robots to spread fun
--- Make repairs t get the Ark back on course and etc
Plenty of fun for all!

Re: What cities do you use in your game?
Hey there Zindil how about defining what you would like to see within a city and maybe
we might be able to come up with some ideas and plans for you. I do my best work
from simple draft ideas and expand on them from there.
I can however relate to your family time issues!!!

Re: Interesting Tech
Very interesting, but it accures to me eventually even all of the Sea water could

Re: Spell Storage Items
Here is a item for you,
Crystal Eye container: A crystal container that is made from a type
of large crystal is hollowed out using magic, and a magical solution
is poured into the hollowed out area, then a virgin's full eyeball is
then placed also into the liquid. The spell in question is then cast
uppon the eyeball, and then a crystal lid is placed over hollowed
area and sealed again with magic. Thus you have a item that
can cast a single spell, kinda like a Beholder. One could tailer the
details to fit the flavor and their needs. Also depending on the
nature of the spell, the uses of the device can be many different
ones and etc. Usually there is a command word to activate or
deactivate it.

Re: Pathfinder Hero
It is sad that both Dragon and Dungeon went down after their long run time, but for
me Pathfinder is a indepth adventure and I for one don't want just adventures. Plus
yes at $20.oo each and six issues to complete that one plot seems a bit much for
even me.
Does Hero's System have a support type magizine of sorts and if so what is it called
and whom is the publisher of it?

Re: Hero Sales Figures, new blood?
Speaking for myself and my son, since my son read through all my old
versions of Champions starting with v2 he wanted the current stuff. So
I bought 'everything' for Champions, Dark Champions, Fantasy Hero,
and Star Hero over this past 1.5 yrs. I am picking up Traveller Hero,
as well as Post-Apocalyptic too. Since I am converting my D&D v3.5
campaign to Hero's I need it all. Well I have a huge gaming Library and
it helps to have lots of resources to draw from. I am now 43 and my
oldest son is 12, I wish I had the mass volumns of stuff I have now,
when I was his age when I started way back then some 32 yrs ago.
I want to give my son the best headstart I can for him.

Hello everyone,
I just ordered from FRPgames (online distributor) of gaming materials,
three more books to add to my large Hero's library. I purchease the
following books:
- Hero System: Post-Apocalyptic Hero
- Hero System: Ninja Hero
- Hero System: The Ultimate Energy Projector
Now I have seen referencse to another book and was wondering if
someone might comment on that book for me.
- Hero System: Character Creation Handbook
I have read the description for what it should be and it would make
my work alot easier, instead of looking through all the other books
instead. I wanted to hear from someone that has read it and knows
it and make a review of it for me.
My purpose here is I am converting my long running campaigns
from their other systems to Hero's System. I have collected Hero's
since v2 and have most of v5 already. My 12 yr old son loves Hero's
system over D20 system, and now that D&D is going from 3.5 to 4
and NOT allowing conversion I am throwing in the towel on them
after my 32+ yr time playing/DMing it.
My campaigns are:
D&D D20 v3.5 --- to --- Fantasy Hero
Gamma World --- to --- Post-Apocalyptic Hero
Traveller --- to --- Traveller/Star Hero
My son likes both Champions/Dark Champions and Fantasy Hero
and he is working on building his own campaigns with my help. BTW
we do things by hand (Pencil and Paper), and yes I am NOW aware
of Designer Hero. I am looking into that seriously, but being a old
school gamer...there is nothing like have a good old hard copy book
in ones hands to read when ones away from their PC. That is one of
the reasons I want to look into getting the book of Character Creation
Handbook if it is a good useful product.
Also as I am new to this Discussion Board, what is the meaning
of "Rep Power"? What does that mean for any given signon?
Thanks,

Re: Post-Apocolyptic Hero Campaign Idea:
Hey there Matt,
Some good points to consider, and gives me something to consider.
Now I was thinking the Flight crew that would stay awake and live
out their lives and have children and oversee the Ark would have
either died out from some type of radiation or disease.
Plus add in the derlick Alien ship, I could also add in both Aliens,
plagues, even Werecreature of sorts too. Lots of possibilities
here with this plot line, and plenty of room to go into many different
directions with it as well too.

Re: [PAH] 50 years After
Well first off I guess you will need to define what caused civilization
to crash in the first case. Being a fan of both Gamma World and flesh
eating Zombies let me give you a chain of events leading to PAH
A corporation discovered a new gene altering drug that would create
'super' humans - thus GST's. The drug increases the human normal
average to above it's current state, in regards to all levels of health,
agility, and brain power. So GST humans are super physically and
mentally in every way to a standard human. Now this drug was hard
to create and being so was quite expensive to obtain. So being in
high demand but existing in small amounts, the price went through
the roof. It was further discovered that anoth big side effect was it
cured or prevented a GST human from getting most diseases.
Now in a attempt to calm the masses a 'cheaper' version of the GST
drug was created for the rest of the world by another corporation.
Now their drug didn't make men supermen, but it did have the effect
of making people immune to many of the standard diseases that
plagued mankind. This drug was rushed into service and was given
to many world wide.
So even with the Super Drug, many in the world still wanted the GST
instead. Now it further became clear that the GST drug was only being
offerred in mass to the US, Canada, UK, and Japan. Some of the GST
was getting to a small few in other countries, but there was a great
uproar. Many seeing this as a chance to push their politicics, used
terrorist tactics to use some mini-nukes in a few countries. The
setting off of these nukes, caused many countries to declare martial
law. The world was on the edge of war.
It in the trouble times, it was discovered that those folks that had
taken the GST were also immune to the effects of radiation and even
if they got sick they eventually recovered. Now those that took the
Super Drug were immune to only low levels of radiation, but did not
survive higher exposer levels. Once again thee was a great outcry
for GST drug. Then the Corp that came up with the Super Drug,
announced a new drug that would have the effect of making one
immune to radiation in much the same way as GST drug does. With
this announcement the drug was pressed in service immediately
world wide.
Then overnight 'Apocolyptic Event' happened. The same Corp that
came up with the Super Drug and Anti-Radiation Drug, had a
Bio-Hazard accident and the "Gesturbanie Plague" was released
into the world. Think Dawn of the Dead/Resident Evil "Flesh eating
Zombies".
Here is how it spread, Zombie bights normal human they get sick
and die and stay dead. Zombie bightes either human that has taken
either Super Drug alon, or Super Drup and Anti Radiation Drug and
they get sick die and are reborn as "Flesh Eating Zombies". Finally
Zombie bights GST-human, and the human has a nasty wound but
heals completely with no further ill effects.
So within 60 days of the outbreak 80% of the worlds population
was dead with another 5% as Zombies. The remaining pop are
mostlty GST or Super/Anti Radiation Humans in USA, Canada, UK
and Japan. Each nation tried to survive as best they could. Now
these plague Zombies have some limitations, like if they don't
eat flesh (human or animal) they will burn out and die for good.
Also damage to their brains will take them out perminately as well.
So within 1 year of the outbreak most Zombies have starved and
burned out to dry husks.
Thus within a few years when children are born to the GST's, their
children are pure strain human and have higher physical and mental
abilities, and are immune to all disease...thus super human. Next
the children of the humans that took Super/Anti Radiation shots,
there children were born as either normal humans OR could have
the Mutant Gene(allows for Hero character types).
So 50 yrs later, that would be either the 2nd or 3rd generation after
the plague. Thus you have a Post - Apocolyptic campign setting idea.
Now this is only a rough idea I came up with on the fly here at work.

Re: HEROic Werewolves (not WoD)
The whole concept of a werewolf is a awesome concept. Trying to
define the whole procedure for infection and first conversion to the
'beast' and those effects would be awesome to work out. I guess
I would take a darker view on the plot line and what it means to
be a werewolf. I'd be willing to take a 'bite' at designing that up.
I could use the whole werewolf infection plot idea in a idea I am
working on for a setting for PAH.

Hello everyone,
I was toying with trying to run a PAH campaign set in a kinda
Metamorphosis Alpha campain setting. Basically the players from
a "Star Hero" setting , awaken from Cryo Sleep aboard their ARK.
The Ark has not reached it's intended destination, but a large yet
unknown alien design ship has docked with the Ark.
Now many of the systems are off line, and there appears to be
damage to different parts of the ship. Their appears to be no
sign of the crew or their decendants that were to make the trip
awake while living in the living domes. On further exploration it
is discovered that the alien ship was adrift in space and was docked
with, and searched. That was were the problems began.
Ok I could do a Alien type bug hunt plot. I could use a plague zombie
horror plot., or I could use real Aliens as the enemy. I could even use
a kind of vampire plot line as well, or even a Werewolf plot line to.
I could keep alot of details in the dark and force the players to use
their skills and etc, to look for clues and find out what happened.
Then as the player play, if someone dies...the rest of the players
just awaken another Cryo Tube Sleeper. I would also allow them
to also awaken a few extra NPCs crewmen that I could use to add
color and depth to the whole plot too. I have five players and would
say that the system awakened say a team of ten 'trouble shooters'.
BTW the ship would be run by a Self awair AI named UltraMind that
has a few issues/flaws to it's 'personality' along with loads of system
problems too.
The end goal would to get the ship repaired and back on target and
to get the Ark to it's intended destination. Also resolve all the different
'issues' that have come up while the Ark has been adrift in space, and
many unplanned happenings have been introduced.
What do you think of the whole concept idea?

Re: Old Enemies
Mallgorious the Scarred:
A scarred mage/wizard with burns across his face and body that make
him look quite disfigured. Most people that see his face turn in fear,
and this has made life extremely hard for this spell caster. He had been
a former apprentice of a mage/wizard that the former group had
defeated and killed his master. In that fight he had been attacked with
a fireball and badly burned, and left for dead. In the scope of things,
he was just defending his masters home and was not really involved
in the matters that brought the former adventuring group to fight his
master. Thus he was truely innocent and because he was there was
unjustly attacked and almost killed. So now that many years have
passed and through sheer drive/will he has become a powerful
mage/wizard with a deep hatred and revenge in the back of his mind.
One should roleplay this NPC with great sense of preplanning for any
encounter. The NPCs heart through his life experience has grown
stone cold and he wants to cause great pain and wide spread dispare
to those that wronged him. Now if the former group members are no
more, then their children are fair targets for his deep seated hatred
and revenge. Toying with a target is always a great plus, they should
be made to suffer as he has killing is to easy a punishment.

Re: Starting over
Greetings my felllow players,
Thank you so very much for your thoughts so far, they have been of
great help and support. I must say having some more time after
reading a bit I have alot to think about. For me I really have three
campaigns to think about:
AD&D converting to Fantasy Hero
Gamma World converting to Post-apocolyptic Hero
Traveller converting to Traveller Hero
Each of these three campaigns set in my only home grown campaign
backdrop all have 20+ years of developement and game play to them.
Now looking at the three of them, there is alot of work to be done or
rather redone. It kills me because over the last 2-3 years I have spent
tons of money (don't tell the wife) on upgrading my resource library
to upgrade to v3.5 for D&D D20 system.
Now I am considering merging both my AD&D and Gamma World
campaigns together. Simply the world reached a high tech level but
had a great war and the great accomplishments of the "Ancients'
have mostly been lost or forgotten. Now what remains is greatly
unknown or misunderstood. The world has changed and many
mutations have happened and many new creatures have emerged
and carved out a nitch. Also in the process "Magic" has been dicovered
and spread with acceptance. The campaign is mostly Fantasy based
with some items from the "ancients" thrown in.
Now my own Traveller campaign is actuallty two campigns really.
The first traditional one was set in the Verge sector in 1109 or so.
The 2nd one is one more of my own creation. Set in my own universe,
the humans culture set out on a major quest to save itself. Earth
was greatly damaged by the stupidity, greed, and foolishness off
the 21st and 22nd century. Mankind built great Arks that were
sleeper ships and were sent out to this new star system that would
take some 200 yrs to reach. Well the new star system Alninnar, with
a yellow son like our own and had four planets and one asteroid belt.
The system had two worlds that could support life, one much like our
own Earth (before mankind damaged it), and a would much like Dune
in nature (mankind would need to wear a special breather to live on
the surface there). So over twenty years , one ark was lanched each
year on the 200 year voyage. Well the first 17 made it, but no sign
of the reamining 3 has ever been heard from. Also around the time
after the 1th Ark was launched, all data transmitions from Earth also
stopped. It has been 30 years since the last Ark arrived within system
and at campaign start mankind have reached the state to start to
explore the star systems surrounding their new home system. The
players make up a team of scouts, dispatched to explore. I don't use
standard 'Jump drive' but instead Sleeper Tubes and slow passage
between systems, kinda like what was used in Aliens II Movie.
I look at what I have done and I have alot to look at and try to figure
out where to start from and etc. My head is swimming with the
thought of restarting again and just picking a point to start with.
Plus I have to decide which campaign to start with, I like them both.

Re: need NPCs
Young apprentice:
A young boy/girl maybe tenish in age, with big eyes, and loads
of freckles, and extremely interested in anything and everything
that is going on, except for their intended task is. You got it
a kid being a kid, but not quite doing their chore as directed.
They might have a bundle of wrapped packages, or a purse of
coins to buy this or that from a list, or to deliver a note to a
specific person and/or place. I would make the NPC fun loving
and very good natured, and not very worldly.

Hello everyone,
I am new to this form but not new to Champions or RPGing at all. I am
a 44 yr old gamer that has played D&D and Traveller for close to 32 yrs.
I started playing Champions in v2 and have collected it since. Over the
years I have loved the Hero's system, and have often wanted to
convert my own D&D campaign and Traveller campaign to using Hero's
system.
Now in the last couple of years I have collected everything I could get
my hands on for D&D v3.5, and anything Traveller. At the same time
my oldest son age 12, has started to play RPG himself and has fully
taken to the Hero's sytem. Thus I have purchased for him all the books
out for v5 Hero's (Champions, Dark Champions, Fantasy Hero, and
Star Hero) I will also purchase the New Traveller Hero books, and
PA genre as well too.
So having a great resource library at my finger tips(I love hard copy
books ONLY), I now want to begin the task of converting my D&D
campaign into a Fantasy Hero campaign. Yes I know that D&D is
about to release a new v4 version of the game up from v3.5. I have
spent far to much on loads of books to do it again. When I think of
all the different books for D&D, AD&D, v2, v2.5, v3, and v3.5 I'm
not doing it again. They killed off both the Dragon and Dungeon
mags, and I have them from issue #1s of each...I refuse to continue
to support that system any more. My son doesn't really like the D20
system, and perfers the Hero's system.
Now that there is a conversion path for me to take both my D&D
campaign into Fantasy Hero, and my Traveller campaign into
Traveller Hero..I am extremely happy. Heck now with PA, I can
even bring Gamma World back to life again as well too.
So starting with my Fantasy campaign which I have DM'd now with
multiple groups for over 20 yrs, how best might I start converting
that to Fantasy Hero? Any thoughts on this redesign path? Also
what is this I hear of a new updated/revised Fantasy Hero core
book due out in Dec 2007?

Building a semi-new faith for my FH campaign:
in Fantasy Hero
Posted
Re: Building a semi-new faith for my FH campaign:
Hello everyone,
Ok let me start again for years I have used two different sets of
names for the Gods in the campaign realm of my own creation.
The names I should have used are:
Bahilidoar - this one god is the one and only God (think of the
Christian/Catholic faith). He is the God of everything and he has
Saints (worshipers whom he raised up) and Angels that are
his go betweens.
Male, Align: N, G
Symbol: two barred cross
Ulric - this God is a fallen Saint of Bahlidoar ( think of the Devil
of the Christian/catholic faith) He has Fallen Ones (worshipers
whom he has drawn to him) and Demons and Daemons to
do his bidding.
Male, Align: C, E
Symbol: pentagram
Now both the beings known as "Saints" and "Fallen" can appear
at times as ghosts or physical. They can be seen, can be heard
and converse with people, and can fight. They can also be defeated,
so they are not supreme in anyway. In life they were devoted to
their chosen God, and because of deads and devotion they now
for what ever reason serve their specific God from the beyond.
Also the beings known as "Angels" and "Demons" or "Daemons"
can also interact with the physical realm and they have greater
powers and abilities.
Realize too, not just anyone can get one of these beings to answer
there call and come and etc. There are alot of events that are
happening and things need to happen for such a thing to happen.
The presence of these beings in the name of their specific Gods
is what is causing their faiths to spread. I should also point out
in my world there are three types pf members of the cloth:
- Priests - non adventuring/ non spellcasters - instead seek to
call upon their God to do a 'mirical' or ask one of the beings
of their faith to interceed in the name of their god and etc
- Cloister Cleric - non adventuring spell casting cleric
- Cleric - adventuring cleric
I should further point out that I use Holy Points system, where a
player must roleplay and their actions in the name of their God
can get them Holy Points. Then they use those holy Points to
ask to be granted spells inwhich to be able to cast. Once given
they always have the spell, unless they do something that causes
them to loose it. Holy points can also be used for other things,
like dealing with the Holy Beings of their God....or miricals!
I DM/GM a game that is heavy on roleplaying.
Penn
PS: Morphious and Tol are two other gods that are also used
but they are slightly different. The above two are what I will
be developing and using in my campaign for FH.
