  1. Re: How do you put someone to sleep? Sooo very true. I learned it in a most (physically) painfull way...
  2. Re: EMP Weapons I didn't think about it a lot yet, but I would suggest something like Sean, except the drain targets INT (for computers). But then you need to have a computer on board for the attack to be effective, wich may not be the case... Well, at least, I hope this may trigger more reflexions toward better ideas.
  3. Re: How do you put someone to sleep? Would that work? Would any GM here permit this? Personally, I find this pretty interesting. It should have some advantage to prevent the target from being conscious of what's going on, though... What do you think?

  7. Re: Children as main characters in a fantasy setting What's that???
  8. Hi everybody, I plan to make a little nordic fantasy campaign somewhen in wich I would like the players' characters to start as children in its first half (to have them being grown-up in the second one wich will take place something like five years later or so...). My question is: how much would you give character points to start this and, most importantly, how would you divise them in CPs and DPs? My first impression is to give 50/50 points, or maybe 75/25, for a taotal of 100. It would be a low powered fantasy with "normal" humans being the central part of the setting. I plan to have the children fight against a small bunch of goblins in the final act of the first half... So, what do you think about it?
  9. Re: Social resolution mechanics for Hero For social interactions, I would only consider adding new rules for power struggles between institutions, organisations groups or states, where things like reputation, number of followers, power of those followers, money and other ressources, legal status and the likes would give adjustments to a opposite dice roll. This kind of rolls could apply to the same situations a character can encounter or try in a game (corruption, negociation, intimidation, etc), but to a larger scale between organisations. I wouldn't add anything about character to character interactions. Moreover, my player group and myself are mostly political and strategical beasts and such a system integrated to Hero could make us happy till the end of times.
  10. Re: Hand-to-hand stun weapon Awrr... Indeed. Sorry about that, but anyway, as it is a +0 advantage, it doesn't change the cost or APs. I beg for your forgiveness, oh great TH!
  11. Re: Hand-to-hand stun weapon Thanks guys, it is now very clear to me. As it was supposed to be some immaterial dagger (a neural dagger, as it is called in the universe I'm transposing into Hero Sys), I decided to build it as an EB without range. It goes like this: Neural Dagger: Energy Blast 3d6, No Normal Defense (doesn't work against energy fields), Stun Only (+0), (30 APs); OAF (-1), No Range (-1/2), Real Weapon (-1/4), 10 charges (-1/4) Thanks again!
  12. Hi guys, I'm looking to build a hand-to-hand stun weapon for a heroic sci-fi campaign but I'm not sure about the best way to do it. Would it be a hand-to-hand attack with a custom limitation, stun only or maybe an energy blast without any range? What do you think about this? Or do you have any better ideas? Thank you very much.
  13. Re: How would you use a true name as a vulnerability?
  14. Re: How would you use a true name as a vulnerability? Thanks everybody. The thing is pretty much clearer in my mind, now. It has all been very usefull to me. Thanks again.
  15. Re: Clay Golem & Incurable Wounds Most of "D&D mystical facts" are just bullcrap, anyway...
  16. Hi guys, long time no see... Here's a sticky question for my come back on the site: How would you build a vulnerability (not necessarly in game terms) to someone knowing and using your true name? I'm going to play a character coming from another world and I want him to have to keep is true name secret, but I don't know how to build this in game terms and what could be the negative effects? Any idea? Thanks a lot!
  17. Re: Another one: beam weapon Ha sorry, I had missed the "Dark" in "Dark Champions", wich is why I asked for the rules; I thought they were related to the old Champions game. Anyway, yhanks a lot!
  18. Re: Another one: beam weapon What are those rules, please, 'cause Archermoo got it right into what I was looking for, and much simpler! Repped. Thank you, guys. Have fun.
  19. Re: Hypothetically and unofficially, what would you like to see in a Mecha Hero book? Cthulutech??? Is this serious?
  20. Hi, I'm still experiencing some trouble to figure out how to build complex weapons. This one is a large beam canon (much like the ones used in FF VII against theplanet's Weapons). There is one detail bugging me: I want the beam to be a large (megascale) linear zone of effect. I want it to be able to continue in straight line ad infinitum as long as it doesn't it something. Moreover, I'd like it to be able to pass through objects it destroyes and continue to the next one, then doing what damages are left after substracting the body points from the last destroyed object... I don't know if I'm really clear about what I have in mind... It's like a beam that can go through a wall, just like a character experiencing knockback: global damages - hit structure's body = remaining damages to the next structure then: remaining damages - next hit structures'body = remaining etc. I don't prepare this for a hard science campaign, but it could be interesting to include a lost of damages over distance, as energy is lost along the way. Moreover, this could define the effective range limit. Any idea? Thanks.

    Dilema...

Re: Dilema... Personally, as long as I live in a country who is not thoroughly experiencing war, I feel rightfully legitimate to say searching for a job is the worst thing that can happen to someone in the whole universe.
  22. Re: Missile and homing missile Thanks guys. Very usefull replies.
  23. Re: Problem with force field Well, I sure didn't thought about this thread to get this serious... Honestly, I already knew the answer to my question before to post it: it depends of the players you're playing with (at least, that's what I think...). Although I just cannot cope with the no-nudity-just-beacause codes of whatever sort they may be, I understand some people may not be at ease with this theme, just like any other. And just like any other theme, I think it can had something to a game if it is played seriously and correctly. Anyway, I would have prefered to get answers in my How to build homing missiles thread instead of this one... Have fun.
