The boy and I were driving down the highway. We jumped out of our car, and the guy in front of us did the same thing. I was like look at that. The boy was like we did the same thing. Our car kept rolling and rolled off the edge of an on ramp into traffic. I watched it get hit in the side by what looked like a cadillac and pushed down the highway.

So, yeah, clearly, someone flipping burgers deserves the same pay as a trained medical professional....
Nobody said that. What was said is that companies could pay more but don't because their executives are too busy taking everything like the hostess people expecting the unions to bail them out of their fourth bankruptcy while they are plating their bathrooms with gold like Jim Bakker used to do.
Both of these videos are years old, but it's what people were talking about and still applies now.

I work at a fast food place now. Prices have gone up ten fifteen dollars. Cost has gone up one dollar. Wages have gone up three dollars because they couldn't staff. I live in the south. The average rent for housing is 1k+

Its not a book per se but I have been reading Savage Realms magazines on Kindle. They are sword and sorcery short stories bundled, a handfull every month. Some are a lot better than others, but overall its fun stuff and worth reading.
I kept up with the Dresden books for a while but got tired of the escalation of the story and it got ridiculous to me after a while. Dresden wiping out a thousand vampires with a single spell claiming he could have cast it at any time but never had the acreage required. The stories were at their best just as PI with magic street level stuff, not this huge storyline of epic proportions. Butcher lost his way.
He stole the spell and had no way to cast it because you need to kill an active member of the bloodline to use it. The vampires wanted to use it by killing Maggie to kill Dresden, Ebenezer (The second or third most powerful mage in the world), and maybe Thomas and anyone related to his side which might have killed most of the white court. So in the middle of the battle, Harry uses the spell on the youngest member of the vampires' bloodline, his ex-girlfriend Susan. All the full vampires of the court are killed and the half-vampires like Susan are released back to being human.
The other three courts aren't affected by the spell.

If I recall the vampire thing correctly (the story blurs together for me a bit, not a good sign), I was more upset with the way that Butcher killed off Dresden's girlfriend/baby mother, as that seemed like a sign of incipient character stasis, which has certainly come true since. All series end, and I had the mistaken impression that Battleground was going to give us closure. Butcher is fabulously wealthy and 53. He can throw Dresden off the waterfall go into semi-retirement. write more books in the Aeronaut's Windlass series to keep himself busy, and buy his son a hobby farm or a congressional district or something so that he doesn't have to turn into another Brian Herbert.
I think all of Harry's love interests are doomed. I think he is under a curse and doesn't realize it. It hasn't been confirmed in story yet, but I would not be surprised if Laura Raith takes a bullet at their wedding.

Battlegrounds is okay. There are some surprises at the end.

Doesn't matter. The point stands. He had to give the money for his contract back, had his new team pay to take him making his former employers a little bit richer and he has to move away from his former team. He said I'm not playing, and they said goodbye.

Fani Willis filed paperwork for permission to investigate ties between Mike Roman the defendant who accused her of favoritism to Nate Wade and Nate Wade's ex-wife who tried to make her sit for a disposition since they are apparently going out. They filed their motions against her on the same day which is odd since the divorce happened in 2022 after the ex-wife was caught with another man.
If the investigation uncovers a money trail, then it will look like Roman paid the ex-wife to cause trouble before his own court date made it to trial.
Macafee has scheduled a hearing on this.

Watched the last disc for season two of breaking bad. Gus was right to shun Walt and Jesse, and he should have kept shunning them because they are nothing but bad luck and trouble.

Trump is being reported as losing his suit against the NY TImes and is on the hook for their defense fees

I don't think Trump is going to get immunity from the DC appellate which is scheduled to rule this week or the next. He might get it from the Supreme Court if they cave. It has been reported that he has threatened Kavenaugh on air. He's lost his case against his fraud. He is up for being fined again for defaming E Jean Carroll which he keeps defaming. He is claiming that Fani Willis should drop charges against him because she supposedly is sleeping with another prosecutor which Marg Greene has asked Brian Kemp to file charges on Willis. And Cannon is going to give him more time to submit discovery since his lawyers have done no work in Florida.

A failure to file paperwork is what got him a judge only trial in NY for his fraud trial.

I always seem to have problems in the summer time. This summer I was in the hospital for a week so I didn't get anything done. I am going to try to get back to where I am writing various things again like I used to do. The thing is I can always hit the quartermilly (unofficial challenge to get a quarter million words) but once I do that, I kind of stumble down the line.

Which they will almost certainly do.
Doesn't matter because to get that stay, Trump has to argue that the SC has to go fast instead of slow, because until they issue it, he will be getting cooked in court. he has to argue the same thing Smith argued as the appealer.
