  1. Yeah, I'll arbitrate and say that heroic magic doesn't fit. I suggest criminology or incarceration or martial arts or anything else
  2. Yeesh, I really don't feel like I can arbitrate here. I'm just the guy that puts stuff on the google doc. Anyway, we want to have a little time to deliberate on the vote, so I'll close the draft tomorrow. Get your last picks in!
  3. Aaand another truck attack in London. Except this one was on worshippers leaving a mosque. Let us all hope it doesn't begin a cycle.
  4. Yep, the gunman has been identified as James T. Hodgkinson. He was very vocally opposed to Republicans, mostly in the form of letters to the editor and so forth. Ladies and Gentlemen, the age of far left terrorism is upon us. https://www.vox.com/2017/6/14/15801054/james-t-hodgkinson-police-alexandria-shooter Bernie Sanders “sickened” by Scalise shooting, reportedly conducted by former campaign volunteer
  5. I admit, I'm curious what happens when a Brownie hybridizes with a Frost Giant.
  6. That fire caused me no little panic. I first heard it garbled and rumor-ridden. My sisters are in the UK as tourists, so when I heard "A tower in London got bombed" (again, rumor-ridden and unsubstantiated) I was terrified it was some tourist destination they could have been at. I admit it, I was relieved it was housing. I guess that's inhumane of me. Probably would have been fewer casualties in a tourist destination. But I was glad it didn't turn out to be personal.
  7. Gunman opens fire at Republican Congressmen and British ambassador playing baseball.
  8. Missed the Wolf. I'll update the list in a bit, thanks for reminding me about the guardian.
  9. Last pick: Secondary Domain: Rites of Adulthood A mere child may not be expected to show hospitality, for nothing is truly theirs. Adults are. They are expected to show hospitality. The god of hospitality would oversee the transition from one to another. And yet, to become an adult requires a journey. The god of travels may be placated with an inner journey of discovery, but he does encourage the nations to send their young off at the cusp of adulthood, to learn what home could not teach them. Oh, and I'm abusing my GM-hood to say that, in addition to the deposits in and around the Floating Mountains, Lift Crystals form a ring around the planet. I always liked fantasy vistas with a ring glowing in the sky.
  10. I just woke up. With bleary eyes, I saw Old Man's post, and for just a moment I thought his gift was "Free WiFi"
  11. And I'll put back tribbles interference in the morning.
  12. That would make more sense for the dwarves, wouldn't it? hmm, I'll say that the god of travel saw the lift crystals in the floating mountains, and taught men to mine them so they could fly.
  13. You are a god and a gentleman. The god of travel needs roads and ports, the god of hospitality needs buildings. I'll take Doc Shadow's Engineering
  14. Hmm, took two days off for weekend, it is the 12th, we have 10 picks, so yep, we can have all picks done now.
  15. Okay. Gone. Tribble, you have your pick back as well, as there are no longer any lift crystals to limit. Shadow, I didn't notice the stabbing in the back, but I'm sorry it happened.
  16. Gift to Civilization: Goblinoid Crafting Not a Sentient species! Or even a very cohesive species. the gift is the crafting of goblinoids themselves. Goblinoids range form rat-sized Snotlings to elephantine Bugbears, and these days many aren't even humanoid. As inspired by the Lord of the Rings movies, goblinoids grow in sacks buried in rich organic matter, and they are designed, not bred. Their skills are installed, not trained. Oh, there were wild goblins once, in tunnels pestering dwarves and growing new goblins in the dwarves waste organics. But they weren't intelligent. And so the god of hospitality showed how to take those sacks and make changes to developing goblinoids. Now they come hyperspecialized. Need a goblin that can run messages? Well that vendor will sell you a little one with gliding wings and absolute direction sense and an installed skillset for running letters. Need a new garbage disposal? Another vendor has one with tiny limbs and a huge mouth that will swallow everything and excrete solid, dry, compact, lemon scented pellets that are easy to deal with. Think Flintstones for a range of possibilities. Yes, there's a popular play about a goblin named Cesar leading newly intelligent goblins in a War for the Planet of the Goblins, but for now that's just fiction. Nobody has figured out how to craft a sentient goblin.
  17. Oh! I'm sorry to hear that. If it is all right with you, I'll just remove your name rather than all content. Other players have built on your picks. I'd rather avoid narrative Jenga.
  18. Okay, some of these step on toes. Let me know if I cross too many lines. Mythic Monster: Plague of Thieves In those days there was a secluded school, where races gathered to study in the ways of magic. The God of travels heard their claims of great wisdom and learning, and was curious. And so, He came to the school in the guise of a cripple. He knocked on the door, and introduced himself with a stutter and poor grammar. Would the scholars let him in out of the winter cold. And the scholars would not. They said that they needed their focus, and that his smells and his lice would break their concentration. Again he asked, and again they refused. Thrice and done he asked, and thrice and done they refused. The god of travels and hospitality was wroth. He searched the cosmos and found a spirit of elemental avarice, and took it and taught it and strengthened it and trained it. And he set the spirit upon the school. And the spirit tempted a student with his avarice and she let him into her soul. And the spirit taught her of thieving and robbing, and the making of secret orders. And the student found others to join her order and teach what she knew, and they became thieves in robbers. And so she became a great curse upon that place because of the inhospitality of the people, in which, if a man should lay his wand or his unguent upon his shelf, or upon the place whither he would keep it, behold, upon the morrow, he could not find it, so terrible were those thieves. Wherefore everyone did cleave unto that which was their own, with their hands, and would not borrow neither would they lend; and every man slept upon their staves and kept their books in their right hands. And the school could not continue in that fashion, and not one generation passed but it disappeared and not one stone left upon another. And the thieves were eventually caught and killed. And the god of Hospitality asked the spirit to return with him to those far places where he was found, but the spirit refused, and wandered the earth for another to tempt with his avarice, to begin the cycle again. To sum up, this isn't a Thieves Guild, so much as a Thieves Cult. Once the Spirt of Avarice finds a target, he tempts them into letting him dwell in their heart. Then he teaches them how to be a super ninja thief, stealing for stealing sake. The target starts a cult and teaches them to do the same. Through extreme effort, the thieves can be caught and their cult extinguished, but the Spirit of Avarice has never yet been trapped, and will just start a new cult somewhere else.
  19. They rewrite their rna on the fly. Perhaps they encode poetry in E. Coli.
  20. The God of water does electricity? Your temples sound dangerous. I got things updated, I think, so please review and advise. I do wish Logman were here to adjudicate a few things. For example, I'm not entirely sure our world is Literate. We have god of poetry and literature, but you don't need written language for those. What do you guys think?
  21. There is still time to jump in, if you'd like. lots of domains left to pick from.
  22. I was just about to point out that we had neither sun nor moon god, which is a bit odd as pantheons go. It looks like we are still moonless, ala Game of Thrones.
