  1. I don't think it would have exonerated him one way or another. Look at Hillary and all the Benghazi hearings and investigations. They never turned up anything that could be indictable, but the only reason they aren't ongoing is that Hillary is not in the game anymore. Trump knows that just because someone is innocent doesn't mean they can't be prosecuted forever. But yes, they are calling it a rookie mistake: I only have one request: have Donald Trump state under oath that he has learned from this, and that he will not repeat this rookie mistake, and that at no point in nominating Christopher Wray did he strongly imply that he wanted the man's loyalty.
  2. The spin I got was that Comey was a coward who should have immediately explained his moral qualms about the request for loyalty, and that Trump should get a pass because he is a political rookie and didn't understand that this would be a red flag. To be fair, 'being a rookie' was one of the complaints Republicans had about Obama. Of course, Obama did have a better political resume than Trump, and Trumps business resume won't help in matters like this.
  3. I am not convinced Vice President Pence is ready with a bucket of water. He is less impulsive, granted, but that might mean he'll listen more to the war hawks for Iran. Mostly I've given up hope that we will get a president who brings diplomacy, stability, and peace, in that order. That wasn't Obama. That wouldn't have been Clinton. That isn't Trump.
  4. Okay, I've decided on my interference pick. Interference: The Dream Realm is an Otherworld It came to pass that the god of Magic and Dreams found a Brownie in place where dreams were made, and he was wroth, for he had made dreams to be seen, but not touched and experienced, but not shared. He brought the brownie to its maker and asked "God of Travels and Hospitality, what have you done?" And the god of hospitality offered the god of magic a place at his table, and sweet breads and wine. And when the food was shared he said that he had opened the place of dreams to journeys, for daring journeys pleased him, and no journey could be more so. He told the god of Dreams that even this realm could show a bit of hospitality. Normal people have dreams Practiced people can actually control their dream space, and protect against what gets in. Very practiced people can leave their part of the dream (your own dreams are like a foyer, or a small room in a great building). Magic can aid this. Outside their own dreams, they see that the dream world includes a mirror of the real world (good for scouting and spying), and also includes strange and impossible vistas, dream creatures and nightmares, and overall a world bigger and broader and stranger than the waking world. be careful, you can die or go mad out here. Advanced people can find other people's dreams. Couriers are hired to use this to bring telecommunications or even mass communications. Legendary people and brownies can enter physically. This is one of the main ways brownies sneak into places to do chores and/or work mischief.
  5. I was actually impressed with an article explaining why Democrats shouldn't pass a bill of impeachment, even if Trump obstructed justice. Trump is a GOP problem right now. He lacked the patience needed to prepare a respectable Obamacare replacement, and doesn't even seem to care about it right now. He's ineffective. Let him sit where he is and continue not accomplishing much. If Trump is impeached and convicted, it'll outrage the Republican base into activity. They'll get huge voter turnout and Democrats will lose seats. So yes, Trump is unpopular with the Republican leadership. Paul Ryan could easily offer just enough republicans to vote for impeachment if Democrats promise to do the heavy lifting. But if Trump stays his base will get disillusioned and Democrats will do well in the midterms and maybe the next presidential. If he's forced out his base will cry war. If he is guilty of obstruction of justice, that's wrong. It doesn't jeopardize the country, not yet. Let him off with a congressional motion of censure. “Never interfere with your enemy when he is making a mistake.” - Attributed to Napoleon
  6. Okay, I think that's everything. Take a look. I put the link in my sig.
  7. Okay, I'll start updating. Only, I can't update the original. I'll copy it and put it in a new document. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cVp5ULJrkVCpRauW-0TvWwEe30-K4tz5LM6SrPc-45E/pub
  8. I couldn't get in either, not just you. Would there be objections if I took up the reins?
  9. We'd just need someone to take over the Google doc and adjudication. I vote we stay the course.
  10. I get more of an Iran-Contra feel here. A president who doesn't always know what his people are doing. Except Reagan, at least, was likeable.
  11. I have a question for the Commissioner: what is the difference between "gift to civilization" and a general domain? For example, I have the domain of Travel. Does that mean we can assume our world has Roads and Boats? Or would I have to pop those in separate? For my own reference, here is the Civ 5 tech tree, to track where our world is. Ancient era Agriculture Gifted by Pariah Animal husbandry Possibly under Agriculture, Gifted by Pariah Archery Possibly under War, Domain of Death Tribble Bronze working Gifted by Pariah Calendar Possibly under Time, Domain of csyphrett Masonry Possibly under Knowledge, Domain of Doc Shadow Mining Possibly under Knowledge, Domain of Doc Shadow Pottery Sailing Possibly under Travel, Domain of Sociotard, or under Water, Domain of Clonus The wheel Possibly under Travel, Domain of Sociotard Trapping Writing Classical era Construction Currency Drama and poetry Engineering Science and Engineering, gifted by Doc Shadow Horseback riding Goat Riding, gifted by L. 12. Does alcohol include fermentation generally? Bread and cheese and so forth. I was considering fermentation as a secondary. What's hospitality without fresh bread? I'm hoping you take the expansion, personally
  13. I have at least three picks that I'd like to interfere with. I must take due consideration. Once there was a city state, perched on the edge of a shallow sea. The god of Travelers was pleased with them, for they journeyed far and bravely. And so, that god was watching when the refugees arrived. First one boat, then two, then as the tears of a grieving parent, boats and boats overburdened and overflowing. Across the sea, a competing state had fallen to barbarians, and its citizens were its citizens no longer. The god watched with curiosity. Many of the ships were of fine make. Inadequate to the task of bearing so many, but fine nonetheless. Would this city take the boats and add them to their own fleet, casting off the people as they would a shrimps carapace? But no, they took them in, and even consulted their Oracle so they could send their navy to save those whose ships didn't quite make it. And the masters of the city looked out at the throngs and cried out, begged for the strength to support so many. Get them through the crisis, and they would honor that god as they did no other. And the god of Travels was also the god of Hospitality, and the god heard and was pleased. With the gods power, the city not only survived the crises, but grew, its laws and government spreading out over the whole of the shallow sea, and all ten of the fertile river valleys that fed into it. Geography Pick: The Ten River Republic A vast Republic that includes a few large connected shallow seas that open up to oceans on either end. Ten fertile river valleys feed into it, each separated by small mountain ranges, and each dotted with racially cosmopolitan cities. If it weren't a republic, it'd warrant calling an Empire. (I'm sick of all the fantasy kingdoms being kingdoms. There were ancient and medieval republics, some of which even had human rights and a dash of democracy. This is one.)
  14. The aspect of the Owl pretty well clinches it. I'm just sad they aren't sentient clockwork owls.
  15. "Constructs"? "Abominations?" Although, your suggestion of muses and monsters together made me think of the Irish Leannansidhe. Basically a muse/vampire. It drained the life of artists by inspiring them to create until they died from overwork.
  16. Flora/Fauna: Barnacle Tree http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Barnacle_Tree It is a Tree in medieval Legend. It's fruits looked like barnacles, which ripened then opened and released geese. Effectively the goose was a part of its life cycle. The tree made geese then the geese found a spot and grew into a new tree.
  17. That was my bad. I'm reading on a mobile device so I didn't see the sig.
  18. Was there a Google doc or something keeping track of all this?
  19. The dwarfling could hold his question no longer. "Mother, why do we put out bread and milk every night?" "For good Hospitality, dear. We need to provide for the brownies that clean our house. They do errands around the shop and warn us of danger. Even when we travel, they watch over us, caring for wild places and the roads themselves. So, we leave them gifts and show them respect. They have their pride after all. You'll never see one, but you never want to cross them either." "Wait, didn't you say 'Brownies' were the reason my beard was all tangled this morning?" "Yes, and I'm sorry about that. They do like a bit of mischief now and then. But a tangle like that is lucky. Besides, it's worth it for how many pests they kill." Sentient Race: Brownies. (How about that, we have Brownies and they didn't come from the Stoner god.)
  20. Okay, I have a new idea, and it too is dualistic. Primary Domain: Hearth and Hospitality Secondary Domain: Travel and Journeys I am of two minds about all things, pushing and pulling against each other. My idols likely have two faces. Freedom vs Service Taking care of yourself vs Taking care of others Risk vs Safety
