  1. Re: LET'S HACK: The Turakian Age

I hear people complain about the Hero timeline, but I honestly don't see why it's such an issue. It's way too easy to ignore when it gets in the way of enjoyment. I personally wouldn't want to run Alien Wars with the assumption that superheros used to exist and now don't, because it doesn't make sense to me in the context of the Alien Wars. At the same time, it's fine that Alien Wars the somewhat near future for Champions, and the past for Galactic Champions. So when I run either flavor of Champions, Alien Wars is part of the timeline...when I run Alien Wars, Champions is not part of the timeline.

It's such a non-issue, that I'm almost embarrassed to have spent so much time composing this post...I really don't understand.

One ready made villian is the Juggarnaut renamed Dreadnought in classic enemies (4th) it was developed during WWII. Well the end of the war' date=' who said it couldn't have been used earlier? Or stopped before it could have been massed produced?[/quote']

Not to mention any prototypes that were made...

Unless you have some Superman level hero who can come in and defeat the Axis by himself, I don't see how a WWII supers game in theater would diminish the sacrifice of the actual soldiers any more than movies like Where Eagles Dare, The Dirty Dozen, or Saving Private Ryan.

  4. Re: Fantasy worlds you had to "rework" years later once you've grown up and knew bett

When I started GM'ing, I didn't have any published game worlds: all I had was a copy of the AD&D player's manual. So I had no idea of how things were "meant to be". So, I built my game world on the fantasy and myth I loved: Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, Conan, Lord of the Rings and old norse tales. As a result, my fantasy world was middle to low magic and relatively low-monster. It's held up surprisingly well: I'm still using it after 27 years. What I tend to do is choose one area of the map, develop that and run a campaign there. After a few years of play, that part of the world is heavily detailed, and I bring the game to a close and start up somewhere else. So far I have only detailed about half the world, so there's a good quarter century left in it, I reckon.

    cheers, Mark

It should be pretty dang awesome by the time we get up that old-gamer's-home campaign we keep talking about on the boards...

Just the males? She is a shapeshifter you know.

I'd like to see her try it with a palindromedary.

On second thought, I'm not sure I want to see her try it with a palindromedary

I suppose the females are possible too, but technically, the demons that sex up women in their sleep are called incubi.

And I'm not sure I want to see a palindromedary try it with a palindromedary...

  6. Re: "Neat" Pictures

How about putting Munchkins in a three-way battle with Ewoks and Oompa Loompas?

Well, the Oompa Loompas were specifically taken in by Willy Wonka because they were too weak to make it on their own, IIRC. The Munchkins were mostly too terrorized by the witch to be worth much in a fight...the Lollipop Guild would go down swinging, but I think there's just too much PTSD in Munchkinland...the Guild doesn't have the numbers to stand. This one goes to the Ewoks.
