  1. Thanks for all the help. This speedster is just about ready to get his revenge. Rob
  2. Well, this particular speedster IS extremely overconfident(and impulsive) so he probably would want to take on at least a few of the members at once. At best, he'd set a trap for them to weaken them so the odds will be more in his favor. His power boost should provide him with the juice to take on the team. Now, what do you think about combat? Does the speedster delay or attack all out in hopes of taking out some of the oppostion? I can tell you for sure the villain in question has the speedster Martial Arts(including Flying Dodge). I haven't finished the sheet yet though. i haven't even decided on a SPD....as the highest I've seen in 5th is 8...not sure if that's an upper limit or not. Rob
  3. Hey all, Thanks for all the great suggestions. A lot of you mentioned the potential baddie's tactics. On an intellectual level, this guy has above average intellect, but he's only in his early 20''s. He's not dumb, but he's not Captain America(when it comes to tactics) or Reed Richards either. His primary motivation is to personally trash the entire team. He was a former member of the team....who feels he has always been looked down on by the others. Now, his powers have been enhanced, and he intends to show his former team mates just how wrong they are. Rob
  4. Ghost Archer, Your "Thousand Cuts" idea is cruel, sadistic, and just plain evil. In other words, I love it. That's an amazing power for a speedster...though you have to count on players not simply "taking the chance" as they often do. Nonetheless, definitely an idea I'll probably clone...if you don't mind. Rob
  5. Hi all, In an upcoming session, I want my team of heroes to face a speedster villain. I'm mainly looking at some kind of upgrade to the Kinetik character from Champions Universe but not sure how to go about it. I'd like the speedster to be able to....if not win...give them an entertaining fight. Point cost isn't a big deal. I'm playing with between 700-800 points. My PCs consist of: Bedlam: STR 75 Brick...hard to hurt. Spiritwalker: Supermage. posesses teleportation and some mental powers...along with energy projection Dark Sun: Jedi clone... Seraph: Semi brick(STR 40) with martial arts and a decent Find Weakness roll. SHIELD: Powered armor hero in the Defender mold....but also posessing limited Cyberkinesis. Brimstone: Reserve member.....more or less a Human Torch clone. The key here is how to make the fight not a complete wash...as speedsters are notorius in hero for generally being wimpy. What can I do? Help! Thanks, Rob
  6. Right. And some of the info I did find in the USPD, but I didn't like the energy TK. It didn't seem to reflect the character....and I saw nothing for the flame creatures. The indirect EB in the book doesn't cover it because Pyro's beasties have semi substance and can grab, hit and so forth. Believe me, the USPD is usually the first reference tool I go to, but it doesn't cover EVERYTHING(nor would I expect it to).
  7. The Living Ego: Patrick Stewart would be a lock to play one of the world's most powerful mentalist, though he'd have to display overconfidence a mile wide. Rob
  8. Well....not real sure...I know he can control more than one fire beastie(as he once split a fire demon into two and they both acted individually). The Summon might be the right approach...with the limitations suggested above. He can also create hands of flame and so forth...so I guess these will all be slots in a Multipower. He can also increase/decrease the intensity of flame, but I imagine this is just a Supress/Succor deal. I'm doing these wrtieups as an experiment. Mutans are my first choice as their powers tend to be focused and easier to do. I've done a 5th Editon version of the Blob who clocked in at around 353 points. Rob
  9. Hey all, I want to write up Pyro(the comic book version) with 5th Editon stats, but having difficulty. His power is to make existing flame obey his commands forming them into shapes and increasing/decreasing their intensity and so forth. I'm having difficulty trying to create his ability to create flame monsters. They apparantly have substance(one grabbed Wolverine), but they are made of energy. He also needs existing flame, but he carries a flame thrower....so I doubt that qualifies as a limitation. Ideas/Thoughts? Thanks, Rob
  10. Twas the night before X-mas at Crusaderbase Nothing was stirring...except for Dark Sun...who was feeding his face. The others were sleeping....not one was awake. They were all glad to have a holiday break. Dreams of gifts wisked about in their heads... Others were glad they simply weren't dead. Dark Sun was different...he could not nap... He kept thinking...there might be a trap. When suddenly there was the Crusader alert What's going on....was somebody hurt? The Crusaders rushed to the conference room in a hurry. Preparing to unleash their offensive fury. They looked around...everything seemed alright. Then they were startled by a very bright light. A foe perhaps....Mechanon...Menton....Teleios? No....it's just that goofball Captain Chronos. No...not again...not this lunatic He hangs around like an unwanted tick. The Crusaders looked at him and revealed no fear, But Bedlam had to ask...why the hell are you here? Spiritwalker added more..and got in his face.. Chronos...why are you here in this place? On Seraph...on Spiritwalker..on Dark Sun...On SHIELD! Let's show this miscreant we shall never yield! Captain Chronos looked on with a definite frown.. Please Crusaders...you have to calm down! I'm not here to harm you or cause you distress . I've not come to put you all to the test. I've come tonight for a much different reason. It has mostly to do with the holiday season. The Crusaders looked on not sure what to think Is this just more of his crazy hi-jinks? Chronos looked upon them and did nothing but smile A feeling the Crusaders have been missing a while There's one reason only that I am here... It's simply to wish you all some holiday cheer. He vanished again in a flash that was bright. The only thing that he said was to have a good night. The Crusaders felt...one and all... Perhaps...just perhaps...there's hope for us all..... THE END Merry Christmas all!! Rob
  11. Thank you...you have my extreme gratitude. I should just buy Classic Organizations back, but I hold off in the vain hope my favorite Russians get updated to 5th. Again...thanks a lot... Rob
  12. Does anybody remember the names of the members of Red Guard and Red Doom from "Classic Organizations". I don't have the book anymore, but I want to drop their names into my game(my heroes are in Russia), but I can't remember them all. Thanks, Rob
  13. My Champions game has a jedi character. The group is facing a dozen clones of the jedi. After the fight, they interrogate the scientist who created them.... Bedlam(Brick team leader): " Why were they kept locked up down here? " Scientist: " They were unreliable...unstable. " Seraph(martial artist): " Oh...then they were EXACT copies of Dark Sun(the jedi) then? "
  14. Thanks for all the great ideas. I'm definitely using the variable advantage EB somebody mentioned. I might do the Transform too, but how would it work\? Even using quantum mechanics I doubt you can turn anything into anything. There must be a logical limit or else it would just be magic. I imagine you could transform physical states of matter(soild, liquid, gas) and probably transmute elements. Not sure you'd get any limits for that though. Rob
  15. Well....I'm mainly looking for some power ideas that would make a good character. My GM will not allow variable powers pools. Rob
  16. Hey all, For the really talented character creators. anyone want to suggest concepts, powers, etc. for a 350 point hero whose powers revolve around quantum mechanics? Rob
  17. Well, I guess there is some justification for using Extra Dimensional Movement as well as Transdimensional Illusions. I think either method will simulate Mr. Kruger pretty well. I chose Mental illusions as it was easier for me to writeup. I did give him EDM as well...as that gives some logic for the player characters to be able to "chase" him. Since I mainly plan to have Kruger in the "Dreamzone" all they time, I deemed usable against others as unnecessary, as they'll be coming to him. On thinking about it, perhaps I will add the EDM, but that'd have to be Transdimensional as well....as he's in the "Dreamzone" and pulls others in. In the first movie at least, it seemed as if the characters willed themselves into the dimension and he just messed with them when they got there. Rob
  18. Well.... I've been working on a version myself. I'm adapting the character of The Bogeyman from Champions in 3D. Now, I'd improve his stats quite a bit myself. Yeah...the hammer did hurt him in the first film, but it WAS a sledgehammer. The way he got hit probably would have broken bones...and probably would have put an average person down, but it only slows him down for a bit. My guess is he is far tougher than a regular person, but still able to suffer injury. I simulated this by giving him lots of BODY. Sure, you hurt him, but he can take a licking and keep on ticking. Remember that he knows your fears(Telepathy...Transdimensional). In fact, I'd say the majority of his powers are transdimensional. His "dream attacks" are Transdimensional Mental Illusions. The "Dreamverse" is a separate dimension...so you might consider giving him Extradimensional Movement usable on others. I used Mental Illusions as his power basis...made it Transdimensional, but usable only in the Dream dimension. The dream dimension is partially a plot device, but I'd allow those with appropriate powers(like Telepathy) to access it. If you pull him, out...he's powerless. He never seems to be without his finger knives...so that's his one thing that he'd have all the time. He seems to have the "typical" movie slasher powers....great resilience...regen with resurrection...good recovery. I'd boost his stats from what you have right now. First, since he does so much with his "dream powers", you don't want him wasting points on stats. Second, while he's not amazing, the movies seem to indicate he's not bad in the physical stat department(I think he tends to not show stuff like that off as he's both "playing" with his victims and he doesn't really need to.) If his powers are mainly mental, you can just make his EGO high, as his actions will be based on an ECV roll. Regardless, his SPD is probably higher than you listed. He always seems to have enough actions...at least to deal with the SPD 2 and 3 victims he usually faces. I'd go with SPD 4 at least.(My version has higher SPD, but he's intended to fight an entire superteam.)
  19. Hmmmm....I'd give the mastermind: Deduction- For using the info he gets with his other skills. Conversation- To manipulate people into giving up valuable info. Oratory-To keep the minions in line. I'd probably add some skill enhancers too(scientist, jack of all trades, etc) Lots of contact, favors, and so forth. Rob
  20. Wow....great ideas. I knew asking on the boards would get results. many tactics I never even though of. My only worry is the GM may not want telepathy "ruining" the plot...and I may get little information using it. Likewise, he may not want mental powers to be "too" effective. Using a mentalist where the GM is relatively strict on what you can do with the powers can be very boring for the player. Hopefully, I don't have that problem. My planned mentalist also has telepathy, ego attack, and mind scan, but mind control and mental illusions are far more interesting. Rob
  21. Ok, I'm not the best at superheroic combat tactics, so I'm looking to the hero community for help. What cool tricks can you come up with for the following powers: Mind Control and Mental Illusions. I'm specifically looking for tips on creating effects and/or commands that use the EGO +10 or EGO +20 base line...as that seems to be the hardest for me to come up with. Any ideas? Rob
  22. Thanks Sketchpad, That was exactly what I was looking for. I noticed you didn't give the R2 the "only takes BODY" power. What happens when he's hit? Automatic stun? I could always reduce the stats even further and give him the automaton power. Rob
  23. Hello all, I'm looking to let a jedi have an R2 unit as a follower(this is a superheroic campaign). I'm having trouble keeping the point cost...acceptable. Anyone have a cheap R2 variant out there?(Less than 200 points is what I'm gunning for.) Rob
  24. As it so happens, using the 4th edition module as a basic starting point, I designed 5th edition versions of all the Olympians gods. My version of Zeus was 1464 points and more than powerful enough to fit into the standard comic book universes. Basically, I gave the gods their "sphere of influence" powers....and then a small variable power pool to represent divine abilities of a mundane nature. The more powerful the god, the better the power pool. As an example, Zeus had a 40 point variable power pool(cosmic), which was twice as large as a standard god like Ares or Aphrodite. Beyond the power pools and general rewrite of the 4th edition versions, my biggest change was improving their stats. No god should have a 10 EGO in my opinion. Based on pure stubborness alone it should be higher. " I will bow before no mere mortal." Most of the other gods fit in between 600-1200 points. The most expensive being Apollo, Hades, and Poseidon. I think I lowered the DEX on many of them to fit in with 5th edition standards, but in return they got boosted EGO, PRE, and BODY...among other things. Rob
  25. In film 2, Damien causes the death of his brother and has more clearly defined Life Support abilities(such as being immune to poison gas). The fiery holocaust that engulfs the museum seems to at least be partially directed by him. He also demonstrates superhuman intelligence...or at least memory(remember the scene in history class?). In the third film(starring Sam Neil...the best thing about it), Damien demonstrates a lot more powers(Mind Control and Telekinesis as just two examples) and states the daggers are the only thing that can kill him(which implies full Life Support...among other powers).
