Need Help Building a Disadvantage

Recommended Posts

-15 Susceptibility : Transit Disorientation Syndrome ( Common , Instant , +3d6 Drain to DEX )

The origin of this disadvantage is mostly literary . And has only been converted to MW3 . A terrible system IMOO . The effect I'm looking for is a sick and hampered for a period . About half an hour . It happens when a JumpShip leaps from one star to another instantly . Leaving them incapacitated .

It needs to last about half an hour leaving the sufferer partially incapacitated . How who you work it out .

Re: Need Help Building a Disadvantage

If I read this right .. the Jump causes it to other people..

sounds like a Drain DEX with a recovery period moved down so it lasts about 30 Minutes, linked to the Jump itself (whatever movement you're using for that).

But that costs the ship itself points, if that's a concern.

On the other hand - if everyone experiences this no matter who they are, then it sounds like a game effect and you don't really need to work it out in points anywhere - it just happens.

I'm sure someone will have a better idea than myself.

I recall that someone had worked out a system for being Drunk, to the point of being unable to function normally. I think it would work well for what you have in mind, but I don't remember the specific details. Maybe someone else here remembers it.

Re: Need Help Building a Disadvantage

Are you simulating a single person's inability to physically cope with making the jump, or would the jump have this affect on everyone, and only those who have grown used the effect can resist it?

The first can be simulated using your Susceptibility, but the other is a Side Effect of the ship's jump drive.

Re: Need Help Building a Disadvantage

IMO, this seems like it'd be best represented as a Side Effect, using Negative PSLs/CSLs to determine whether it's a Minor, Major, or Extreme Side Effect.

Unless, as someone else asked, this is just for one guy who gets particularly sick from a phenomenon that doesn't (or hardly) affects others.

EDIT: In fact, if it's a Side Effect of the jumpdrive itself, then Weak Knees Man would have a Vulnerability to it, not a Susceptibility.

I think I still have the file somewhere, I'll post it as soon as I can locate it.
