Help with a Name

Okay, I am reworking my Centurions and I need help:

The character is essentialy a Superman Clone, with a tighter expanation of his powers (His powers come from converting solar energy to a energy aura) from Germany.

He is part of the Lunar team & is considered one of the most powerful heroes on the planet. I have not finished him but he is to be about 62-650 points.

Nor a long time poster here (The Rote Baron) helped originaly named him but alas I lost the file with the name, so now I ask for help from those who speak german to help me name this guy.

Origin: ROUGH DRAFT: Thousands of years ago a great war broke out on a planet many light years from here, the prince of the planet, still a babe, was sent to a primitive planet with the hopes that he would be able to return one day as a champion. The ship scanned the first two members of the highest species and manipulated the DNA to include three strands, one from each, and one from the original.

The child grew up normaly until he hit puberty, then he started to develop powers. Dedicating himself to improving the world he became .... (I told you a superman clone)

Powers:

Imense Str, Impervious to harm, capable of extending some of his defences to those he is holding, flight, Force Blasts, etc...

Re: Help with a Name

Go with the basics. He's the "big gun" of the world, so his name should be synonymous with being the foremost superhero. Some suggestions:

Vanguard

Paragon

Avatar

Prime

Primus

Superma---no no, nevermind.

If you don't like those, scan the list here

Re: Help with a Name

I typed 'Superman' into a German translator and got...

Ãœbermensch .

Enjoy.:D

Defently not Ubermensch, since that is equal to the nazies and there "overmen". Not unless he is a furm belever in Adolph. Then he deserves the name.

As for aceptabul names...well I don't speak German, but Herr Sol might work ("Mister Sun", I know Sol is not a german word...you can change it to the german word for the sun if you want).

Re: Help with a Name

I like the name' date=' but it might not fit your character since Avantgarde is commonly used to describe trends in things like art, fashion and music.[/quote']

And how dosen't it describe a trend in superheros/supervillians? Especaly if eveyone created after Avantgarde have simuler (but not exact) powers than his?

Because avant-garde (which I thought was French, not German) originally meant it was in the forefront -- but is currently used to describe trends that are simply not mainstream. They're "out there".

Think: poo sculptures and screaming Ronald McDonald performance artists.

Re: Help with a Name

Babrl Fish said it was Germain. I am not married to the name yet, but so far it is the best in my opinion, I wish an actual German Hero Player was around to tell how the word is used in there culture opposted to changing it to the english speaking world.

What is funny is his Brother's name is equaly bad when translated to english (Mut=Courage/Valor/Bravery)

Re: Help with a Name

Keep the names you like. Avantgarde and Mut are good names in German, regardless of what they sound like when spoken by ign'ant Americans. Remember, though, that their names will likely be translated into the language of choice for news and such, so in America the brothers might be known as Vanguard and Valor. Or not.
