archermoo
Re: Musings on Random Musings I've finally found out what mothballs smell like, as we just got in a shipment of closeout items which reek of them, and everyone has remarked on it. They smell like grain alcohol-doused yuck, apparently. What the generally smell like is either napthalene or 1,4-dichlorobenzene, which are the two things that mothballs are generally made of. Though alcohol-doused yuck is probably a pretty good approximation.
Cancer
Re: Musings on Random Musings Skunks hate the smell. If other factors don't rule it out, you can use mothballs to persuade skunks to take up another place of residence.

If other factors don't rule it out' date=' you can use mothballs to persuade skunks to take up another place of residence.[/quote'] The dog I had growing up, who had Enraged: smells skunk at a 20-, did a pretty good job of persuading them to avoid our place, too. What the generally smell like is either napthalene or 1,4-dichlorobenzene, which are the two things that mothballs are generally made of. Though alcohol-doused yuck is probably a pretty good approximation. Yep. I was describing it to Josh yesterday, and that's what I came up with. Then I had to explain what alcohol smells like to him. It actually makes my teeth hurt. Does that make me a moth? Well, I am drawn to shiny things.

If other factors don't rule it out' date=' you can use mothballs to persuade skunks to take up another place of residence.[/quote'] Works pretty well on cats. One house I lived in had a feral cat in the neighborhood who loved to have litters in our window wells. She would also generally abandon one or more of the kittens after a few days and move the others somewhere else. The second or third time this happened we put mothballs in all the window wells. Didn't happen again.

If anything, they were more affectionate than usual. Herc followed me into the bathroom, and meowed at me the whole time I peed.
Bazza
Re: Musings on Random Musings I just got Castle Whiterock a box set for D+D from Goodman games which you can get for roughly $100. Oh boy ! It is everything you could hope for in a box set like Rappan Athuk Reloaded or The World's Largest Dungeon. I am pleased. Looks superb. I like the idea of a seperate Map book, would make it easier to play with.

Try strings of random letters for instance.
zornwil
Re: Musings on Random Musings Right, but that's the behavior I would have normally expected, as with any word a translator can't translate. I'm wondering if it was doing something different when Alice saw it, but that maybe Google fixed it since then?
