Trebuchet
Re: Called Shots and Champions Well' date=' she could pick up a sword...KA's get their multiple before defenses, and a guaranteed 5x would be nice...[/quote']Her CvK would likely prevent this option even vs. the likes of Dr. Destroyer. She plans to master the sword as a way to further her martial arts in the near future, but it's not like she'd ever carry one.
Hugh Neilson
Re: Called Shots and Champions I have thus far allowed them. But only one player has taken me up on it, and the result was pretty brutal. I think it will likely get worse as OCV goes up, then I may have to do something about it. But right now, I'm pretty sure once one of the other characters views a crippling shot to the head he'll call him on it. They're those kind of players. They'll eventually be all over a hero who does something brutally unheroic. If not, consider mumbling something about Dr Destroyer's OCV being high enough to pull that off...that should get a rousing discussion started... Tech
Re: Called Shots and Champions Hit loccation multipliers? No thank you! The OCV/DCV spread is too great. It's like handing all Martial Artists "2x Damage vs Bricks". You got that right!
Kirby
Re: Called Shots and Champions ...and a breif reputation.... Heh, brief reputation. Wait! By "brief" did you mean "temporary & short lived?" Because I was thinking "brief" as in clothing locatin. I have yet to be in a campaign that *doesn't* allow called shots (though I'm in a Fantasy HERO one where combat hasn't taken place yet, so I couldn't really say there). However, if the heroes are allowed to do it, so are the villains. Unfortunately, I lost a PC this way in a Dark Champions game.
Guest WhammeWhamme
Re: Called Shots and Champions Having noted that Called Shots are a little less broken than popular conception would have it... ...they still, in game, exist to do two things: 1) Reward truly high CV characters with one shotting two shot enemies, two shotting four shotters, and three shotting six shotters. 2) Making it even MORE important to not be 1/2 or 0 DCV. Why is this a needed? Sense Affecting and CV based characters are good enough. And if your schtick is being able to make called shots at will... : Multipower u Head Shot (lots of dice) u Shot to the Arm (dice+disarming power) u Shot to the foot (dice+trip or movement drain) u Shot to the unmentionables (dice and a half+PRE bonus) Freeby damage? No way man...

Kirby
Re: Called Shots and Champions Like the man said -- if it works for the heroes' date=' it also works for the villains. [/quote'] Yeppers and thanks. Besides, I haven't been in a camaign where the CV's were that great of a difference. In fact, I remember in one where Durak's DCV and my weapons specialist's OCV were the same. Of course, that was a cruel, cruel GM world. zornwil
Re: Called Shots and Champions I used to all the time' date=' but I found it made Growth characters and slow bricks a little more vulnerable than I like them. Also lead to some behavior that didn't really fit the genre I wanted to emulate.[/quote'] It's been pretty rare, but even to the extent it's happened at all, I'd echo your comment. I like Champguy's take on it in how he applies it and I'll probably use the same, with minor modification (I might allow some increased damage if it's a critical situation or seems plot/genre-appropriate). lemming
Re: Called Shots and Champions I do hit locations however the multipliers are always the Nstun multipliers for after defense. And Killing attacks are set at x3 multiplier as well. And for 20 points you can have a No hit location modifier on top of that. And since points aren't really the issue in my games, no problems there. With those changes, I haven't had a problem.

I didn't remember that, so you mean (just for example, not really interested for Blazing Arrow) for 20 points for an attack one can ignore the modifiers? Or am I misunderstanding? That's an interesting idea re the multiplier being only for the stun that gets through. I don't know that we've ever called shots in the "current" run of your game (thinking of GMing any time soon?).
