...the villian fooled the heros into raiding a base to "rescue" billionare Roy Biv....

Um, does this Roy Biv have either rainbow or light powers? :P

Of course' date=' the PCs will soon figure it out and have to kick the crap out of the President of the United States of America, which gets you talked about in superhero circles.[/quote']

I'd hope it would do more than that, like have other supers hunt them and the Secret Service have a plan for that kind of prevention. :bmk:

Roy G Biv was a PC in my early 90s campaign. His player was responsible for the unfortunate name, and icould not be reasoned with. I explained the name by mentioning the Biv patriarch was a victim of an art student working at Ellis Island. The campaign is now set in 2056 and the origina player has a very different PC.

For the record, Biv was an armored brick/inventor with no light based power. And I refused to let the new character be named Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge.

Re: The Truly Evil GM

My longest running game had the team assembled and sponsored by the main villain. He wanted some heroes to study to get a better idea of their capabilities and weaknesses. It also helped to know where they were at at all times. He was loosely based on Sleeper, but almost entirely rewritten. He had Mentalla as his personal assistant (power set, not background) and Terastar, Silver Dragon, Phobos and Deimos as flunkies.

Grond is the brother of one of my main characters, mutated by Professor Muerte and Dr. Destroyer using the Giganto process. See, if you take a mutant and mutate him further you get Grondish things.

One of my player characters is Dark Seraph and a Beyonder-scale entity called Adam at different points during his life. Had an accident with a contraceptive and a time machine.

I maintain that if my players don't define something I have the option to.

First, "bravo!" to MikeyMitchell; I applaud you, even giving bonus info!

Oh - my - goodness! I have got to do something similar to this. I have preplanned the designed elimination of the six NPCs from the Freedom Squad in which the three players are a part of. I may just have to do this, but with Menton. Bwah ha ha!

I tried giving some hints to one of the players (who wanted to play a brick) to make himself a Grond-ish clone because I had plans similar to this, though I didn't use the PM, Dr.D & Giganto connection. Nice touch.

Ditto. Two of my players opted for a Mystery Hunted. The third one created a Hunted called The Monks of Zumbra and is letting me come up with their history. :eg:

Re: The Truly Evil GM

I think that truly evil GMing will fall roughly into the following two categories. If there are more please feel free to add them.

Bad

1. Characters are fooled into killing/maiming other characters or innocents.

This could simply be due to coincidence or by the manipulation of others.

A Horror Show!

2. Characters are tempted/seduced to do evil in even a small way and the concequences are deadly for those around them. This is even more fun for the GM when you get to reveal to the players the reason behind the mayhem.

Re: The Truly Evil GM

Recently I moved back to my friends where we had to take a 3 year Champions break on gaming because I wasn't around, they just didn't like gaming Champions without me apparently.

Anyways, while I was gone for 3 years I wrote a PLETHURA of stories to subject them to. I won't write the 4 really fun dastardly ones I have planned as one of my players reads these boards, but this is the introduction I had them go through.

They had to make 150 point regular human characters, ZERO powers. They were allowed to tell me what power styles they wanted and I would create it for them. For example, one was a "robin hood" thief that was good with dogs, another was a CSI type of medical examiner that wanted to be a brick of some type. The third wanted an Ice blaster. So here is where my fun began, one took wealth and contacts of family and a rich apartment and all. The CSI character took a few contacts and favours, and a hunted by the Mob. The third was just a beat cop so I don't get to mess him up too much unfortunately.

The players wake up in a 10x10 steel cell, wearing only a tanktop and a pair of shorts. Individual locations - I had to play each person's introduction seperately for this. They are in a base or oil derrick with an IV in their arm and a tough steel door. No knowledge of what powers they do have as I haven't given to them yet. Characters aren't even supposed to know they are mutants. 5 mutants per base, everyone gets eventually and now they have to escape from the base (as the base is on fire or sinking into the ocean).

Once out in the real world (with possibly figuring out some of their powers as they escape because of fighting with guards) They try to call contacts or friends for help. No one knows them. One goes to the police, he doesn't exist, no fingerprints, no employement, NOTHING. All memories are completely faked, they in effect never existed - and now they have to figure out how to live. Food? Shelter? Employement? Identification? How would you exist if you had none of these?

The fun part was watching them as they wrote in powers that they were just finding out spur of them moment, An animal multiform (to eventually be able to upgrade to a power pool to become any animal she can think of ) and a Force Field that allowed for kinetic manipulation - he loves double knockback. The third guy who hasn't played yet will be able to form balls of ice to hover around him that shoots things out. The problem is that they have the feedback disadvantage. (REALLY looking forward to the time when he pulls out two or more while a brick throws a car onto his hex. 3x stun = little man peeing pants...

Name calling was spewed forth frequently at me by the players. GMs Rule!

Re: The Truly Evil GM

Now that everything is successfully setup, I can say with certainty that my next game will be truly evil.

The player behind Voltage decided a while back he wanted to play a new character for a while. The last game before this, he had agreed to meet with a Swiss scientist who might be able to arrange a device that would amplify Voltage's powers. What Voltage didn't know is that this scientist worked for VIPER. When the players ask what Voltage is up to while the player is on someone new, I told them he had returned to class because his grades were slipping. And he was, sort of. I had VIPER making sure papers were turned in for assignments so that no one noticed he was missing.

Last game, VIPER managed to get an agent into position to shoot a neurotoxin into Reptile, who also has a VIPER hunted. Unbeknownst to the players, the reptile expert at the local zoo is also a member of VIPER and was aware, in advance, that this was happening. Next game begins with Reptile slowly recovering, but the "expert" informs them that the regenerative gland in Reptile's tail is still holding enough Neurotoxin that it will keep him comatose if they don't perform surgery. The players will sit in an examining room while they watch a pre-fabricated hologram of the surgical procedure. When the hologram reaches the end, it loops back to the beginning ending that something is wrong. By this point, Reptile is long gone as well as the VIPER agents involved.

The players encountered Ghost a couple games back when a friend was visiting, I had the friend run the Vigilante as they fought VIPER robots. Ghost said that if she ever found out more information regarding the location of VIPER agents she would contact them. She is going to inform them that she located a base and heard something about "moving two targets within the hour" and that it sounded like something big was going on.

Knowing that the three remaining players have an hour and know where to go, I force them to go into a VIPER base if they want to save two of their teammates. And the best part of all... Viperia was dispatched to the base previous to the Reptile kidnapping so that she could personally inspect this creature and report back to her father.

So essentually I have 5 Players split into two groups... in a VIPER base... with Viperia... and NO backup to speak of. :D

Re: The Truly Evil GM

Two things come to mind.

1) There was a Deadlands campaign I ran where the characters were on a train. I let them run along with the adventure then halfway through when they killed some NPC's I acted like they had ruined the entire campaign. I told them that was it, I hadn't planned on that, and the campaign was over. I told them it was time to start working on a new campaign. They weren't happy and it was almost time to go so I asked, "What is today, I mean month and year?" It took a moment, but then they realized that it was April 1st and I was just smiling so they figured it out.

2) My current champions campaign. We started with me telling the players to pick a villian out of CKC. They each picked one and we started the campaign. I explained to them that UNTIL had discovered them in a VIPER base. Apparently they were clones of the originals and VIPER was doing some kind of plan, but UNTIL didn't know what. Well the campaign went on for a while and finally one player discovered that no, they aren't the clones, but the originals that VIPER some how changed. The shock was amazing. They each figured they were the original character given a chance to be good.

Of course, now the villians they picked out of CKC have shown up so they are completely lost. They don't know if they are clones, originals, or if the are all clones or what.

Re: The Truly Evil GM

Well we were playing Dark Champions and there was this explosion that a couple of the PCs got caught in the edge of and, flukily, took loads of KB.

So they are flying through the air across this road and coming along the road is a Bovril Truck (Bovril is kind of like vege-mite, basically a savoury version of molasses!), and they hit the side of it. Bovril, as you'll be well aware, is always transported under high pressure (THIS IS A LIE), so they punch a hole in the side of the truck, get covered in Bovril and shot back across the road where another truck, this one carrying feather pillows...you can see where this is going...gets in the way, they shoot through that and land, in all places, on the skylight of a conference hall. Pause. Sound of splintering glass. Crash. Right into the middle of a televised polictical debate on 'The Vigilante Menace'. Two tarred and feathered costumed crime fighters, adding their contribution to the debate...

Laughed so much I forgot to give them damage. Added it on later: well I am evil! :D

Then there was the 'misunderstanding' with the hacker they hired who - somehow - got the impression they were after Teri Hatcher porn. I really don't know how that happened.

And this is just the beginning, my children...
