Labrat
Re: blade runner There's no real 'high tech' in Blade Runner to justify it as 'Star Hero'... other than the Replicants (which aren't classic Automatons btw) and some subtle advanced weaponry, medical and communiations tech, it's all really just near-future with a foreign theme. Just like post-apocalypse games, there's only a theme change to the modern world. A GM doesn't really need Star Hero to go near-future when DH should do the trick. Now I am sensing that I may be missing the boat completely, but I thought I'd just chime in on the well-travelled subject. Which brings me to this question... when is CyberPunk? Is it Dark Champions, or is it Star Hero? I say that SH is overkill for CyberPunk. This is about 1 cent more than I needed to contribute, but my random thoughts couldn't be silenced. Forgive my nit-picky-ness.

Now I am sensing that I may be missing the boat completely, but I thought I'd just chime in on the well-travelled subject.[/quote'] Basic BLADE RUNNER is DARK CHAMPIONS with flying cars and artificial people. If you start introducing cyberware, then you need some source -- KAZEI 5 or STAR HERO for example. Which brings me to this question... when is CyberPunk? Is it Dark Champions' date=' or is it Star Hero? I say that SH is overkill for CyberPunk.[/quote'] In my opinion, "cyberpunk" is anytime technology threatens to overwhelm the common man and "humanity" has lost much of its meaning.. So... you could have "steampunk" a.l.a. THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN (this is especially prevalent in the first volume) or GIRL GENIUS, "spellpunk" with magical warmachines and other gear, or "cyberpunk" with artificial people, cyberwear, cyborgs, and AI. Actually, if you use magic and the like, your "spellpunk" series could have much the same -- golems, constructs, magical prosthetics, and living brains in enchanted suits of armor. Actually... GIRL GENIUS is a great example of "low-tech" cyberpunk now that I think of it.
