Re: WWYCD: The Basics

Pendragon would reach out from the back of Leaping Silver (her horse) as they fly past and neatly pluck kitty off the branch. She'd cradle the cat against the rampant red dragon on her breastplate, with one gauntleted hand across kitty's back to keep her from bolting. She'd murmur soothingly to the cat in English or Welsh, whichever was appropriate, and with her free hand, she'd rein Leaping Silver around and down to the old lady. Pendragon wouldn't dismount, but would just hand the cat down, careful not to get kitty tangled in her Union Jack cape.

"Here's Tiddles, ma'am, safe and sound...but if Jerry had come over while you were outside with her, it might have been a different story. Be safe, keep your pet indoors. And remember to observe the blackout rules." And as Leaping Silver takes to the air again, running as if climbing an invisible staircase, Pendragon raises her sword in salute and calls out, "God save King George!"

[Pendragon's a WWII British flagsuit in what looks like full plate armor. She's a female descendent of King Arthur, but pretends to be a man...and yes, the helmet changes her voice, too.]

Gamma Girl would be both slightly irked and slightly flattered to be recognized as a Legionnaire. She'd put on her brightest smile and say, "No sweat, fem. Glad to help." Using her Legion flight ring, she'd fly up level with the cat, and while it was eyeing her suspiciously, she'd snare it with the Fine Manipulation version of her Telekinesis.

She'd float back down to the old lady and put the cat in her arms, still using Telekinesis...because everyone in 2987 AD seems to really dig seeing the far out powers of the Legion. Gamma Girl's own preference and training, on the other hand, would have had her climbing agilely up the tree, hugging the cat close against her chest and dropping to the ground. No fuss, no muss and no power use.

Gamma Girl's mentor Lady Gray was essentially a Batman clone, which made GG a lot like Robin the Boy Wonder. It was Lady Gray who taught Gamma Girl not to rely on "powers" but on her own abilities. So with her mentor's help, Gamma Girl trained mind and body, becoming a gymnast, an athlete, an investigator, a martial artist.... Gamma Girl only ever used her powers as a contingency when agility, wits and trained abilities failed. Back in the 1970s, Gamma Girl's crimefighting career was -- like Robin's -- essentially un-powered.

It was only after the intervention of Vandal Savage led to her becoming timelost in the time of the Legion of Superheroes, that Gamma Girl began to seriously explore her suite of Telekinesis and Force Field powers. It's created quite a conflict for her; she's now a superhero, but still yearns to go back to her street-level vigilante hero persona.

Re: WWYCD: The Basics

A little old lady has a cat stuck in a tree and she asks for your help to get it down.

What would your character do?

Panweesio: Good mood: "Madam, where in you house do you keep the phone book?" Receives reply. Shuts eyes and is seen to concentrate (not necessary, but impresses the rubes.) Appearance of phone number floats before woman's eyes (Mental Ill., Uncontrolled). "Madam, that is the phone number of the local Animal Control Department. This is their job. Call them, have them do it. Put your tax dollars to work." Walks off. Phone number fades away a minute or two later.

Bad mood: Woman sees Panweesio make "mystic passes." Cat floats down to woman's arms, lands purring. Sees Panweesio standing there with slight smile. Once woman is calm, she hears "Actually, the Animal Control Department is who you need to talk to." Image/Illusion of Panweesio and cat disappear, cat is seen to still be in tree, woman hears "So call them, buffoon."

Really bad mood: As for "Bad mood," except the cat turns into leopard/ocelot/????, then claws the **** out of the woman. Illusion, icluding damage, goes away after ~10 seconds.

Glarg: Has no idea what she's talking about. If she can explain, he'll ask if she wants the cat down alive or not. If she says alive, he punches the tree, splintering it, and grabs the cat and hands to her. She dithers too long, he jumps, grabs cat on way up, crushes it (perhaps without trying), hands her what's left after the lands.

Thena: Apports cat to woman.

Re: WWYCD: The Basics

Myrmidon: "Certainly, ma'am." He flies up, retrieves the cat as gently as he can, then passes it to the lady. "Anything else I can do for you, ma'am?"

Chevelier: "But of course, mademoseille. A musketeer always helps those in distress." She uses her whip to grab one of the tree branches and swings up, where she gently picks up the cat. She leaps down with a flourish and presents the cat with a bow.

Tank: Stares at the woman blankly for a few minutes. Realizing no further instructions are forthcoming, he walks under the tree, stretches his arms up, and begins intoning "Here kitty kitty" as softly as he can. He will do this for however long it takes for the cat to come to him, or until someone else comes along to rescue the cat, or until the cat comes down of its own motivation. He may very well be there for days.

Blur!!: "Don't worry, I will save your kitty!" she hollers. She then stares at the tree, realizing that she has no way of getting the cat down. As she grows more and more frustrated, she starts to vibrate. She may even begin crying. Eventually, she comes up with a plan: she runs at hyper-speed to the nearest hardware store, grabs a ladder (hollering, "It's ok, I'm just borrowing it, I'll bring it right back, you won't even miss it!"), runs up to the tree, climbs the ladder, and retrieves the cat. She hollers, "You're welcome, glad to help!" and rushes off at top speed. Then she realizes she forgot to return the ladder, rushes back, hollers "Sorry, I forgot something!", grabs the ladder, and returns it to the hardware store. This whole frustrating mess, which seemed to take practically forever, was actually resolved in about 20 seconds.

Re: WWYCD: The Basics

Dead Head -- would likely cause the woman to run away screaming. Regardless of whether she runs or stay, he'd just look at the cat, and it'd likely leap down and run away (PRE 30, COM 4, Distinctive Features: Walking Corpse).

Doktor Archeville -- would kit-bash a tractor beam using objects found in the old woman's house, then offer to either genetically alter the tree so it exuded a layer of grease-like substance from it's bark, or alter the cat so it either had no claws or no climbing instincts.

Re: WWYCD: The Basics

Fore Eyes: having spent the past hour (before he was asked to do so) going over possible ways to get the cat out of the tree safely pulls out the canary sends it into the air and then catches the stupid furball as it pounces at it and falls. Silently hands spitting hellion to owner and heads home to treat the infected scratches on his face.

Hardball: Shrugs. Picks up rock. Waits just long enough to scare old lady into thinking it's going to be a repeat of that scene from 'Police Academy'. Momentarily considers it. Decides not to. Hits cat's branch just close enough to scare cat out of tree. Catches cat. Hands cat over. Walks off.

Caress: Calls fire department.

Fauna: Asks cat why it's up there. If there is perfectly good cat reason, walk off. If not help the cat find the safest way down using a combination of cat instinct and human intelligence. If all else fails offer to catch cat as it jumps. Asks cat how old lady treats it, if unsatisfied leaves *with* cat, otherwise hands cat to old lady.

Re: WWYCD: The Basics

Adonis has Clinging, enhanced Dex, and Speed, so he should be able to successfully retrieve the cat for the woman. He would than spend a few moments speaking with the woman attempting to use his Conversation to determine if she is currently involved with anyone. He would than invite the woman and her significant other, if one exists, out to dinner. At dinner he would treat it as a date (for a threesome if she is involved), which would probably freak the lady and her companion out some given the difference in ages, but Adonis literally is only concerned with if the person is competent to decide if they wish romance and if they are compatible. Age and looks are not things he factors in beyond age of consent.

Boost would first contact the base computer and request all filed reports relating to rescuing cats from trees, and to see if the Wardens and a manual and proceedures document on this activity. After finding out that no information on this activity, he would consider contacting any of the other Wardens for advice on how to deal with the situation. He would finally decide that this isn't really a serious enough situation, yet, to disturb them. He would than proceed to use his ability to percieve bio-auras to determine that cat's current condition. If the cat seemed reasonably healthy and not in distress, he would first use his powers to temporarily paralyze the cat (Drain Speed to 0), and than climb up and retrieve the cat.
