Western Champions, Redone

Ok a while ago I had an idea for a campeign, well for one reason or another I got it about 1/2 way done and stoped.

My loval FLGS has asked me to highlight a game at a local gaming convention like thing they sponser. I being a hard core Hero Fan have decided to run a Hero game, and pull my "Western Champions" idea out of storage and restart it.

So, I decided a thread for ideas, etc... was warented

The idea is to show how well hero runs cross-genre by mixing Cowboys with superheroes, for inspiration think: Lone Ranger, Zorro, Two Gun Kid (Marvel), Phantom/Ghost Rider (Marvel), Johnah Hex (DC), etc...

Now I have some threads from two years ago already bookmarked, but I am not sure if I will use all of the characters there, and if I do they will be simplified as it is a demo game

The characters I am planning on using are:

Defender 1875 (Steam Powered PA)

Seeker 1875 (MArtial Artist)

Dakota Rose (Mistress of the Lasso)

Lucky Jack (Card player, fighter, lover)

Undertaker (Need a better name for this dead man who aint ready for the grave yet)

Plus 2 new charactrers I have not decided on

Now, I'm working on plot ideas, originaly I thought of an alien invasion, I am also teasing with an homage to the "The Vally of Guange".

Ideas would be appreciated

Re: Western Champions, Redone

I'd call the almost dead man' date=' Shade Walker. Has that spooky feel and also fits the time period.[/quote']

Good name, but he is dead, he just ain't lied down yet (He's an undead type, more powerbased than the others, but it does give the character something "Special")

BTW: I am only going to be using the SK rules for this...

Re: Western Champions, Redone

If you are wanting to keep a Western Hero feel, I keep Undertaker named The Undertaker. Think of the western movies. They are not big on flair like four color heros. Naming a gunslinger Texas, or the Ringo Kid was about as far as they went. Also I wouldn't go alien or anything like that. Villains should have a more Western storyline. A land grab, stopping sheep farmers, stopping sodbusters (farmers), stealing land because of mining rights.

The "ghost" that is running off settlers and killing some turns out to be a Shawnee super intent on driving out the white man from the sacred hunting grounds.

If you are wanting to go western, then do a western.

Claude "Doc" Bernard - (Civil War Surgeon/Doctor/studying with Indian Medicine Men)

Sigurd "Black Gang" Freyrsson - (Black Smith/Inventor/Clockwork, Steampower, and Manufacturing)

Re: Western Champions, Redone

There is a busted pilot you occasionally see on TV about an outlaw who was hanged but revived after being cut down with a sudden desire to change his life and abandon his criminal ways. He tries to get a job as a farm hand but ends up fighting off the bad guys attempt to run off the widow he's working for and as the movie progresses it becomes increasing obvious that he now has ghostly superpowers. It was entitled "The Hanged Man".

There's also an undead character from the RPG named The Tombstone Kid.

Re: Western Champions, Redone

How about for one of the extra characters, a young Hermetic Sorceress that had traveled westward and ended up trapped in an Indian ambush. She lives with the tribe a few years gaining shamanic knowledges. She has recently come back to the whiteman world with a new hybrid system of magic (which her former teachers considers an insult) and is now looking for her place in the world.

How about "Tombstone" for the dead guy?

Coffinbait?

Or "Six Feet?"

*Whipsering conversation* "Pst... why do they call him Six Feet? He's only 5'10''!"

"It's short for Six Feet Under... now shut your trap before we get killed! Oh crap, he heard us!"

Re: Western Champions, Redone

There was a western character mentioned in Madmen and Masterminds, in the backstory of the Cabal. He was a small town sherrif who opposed the Cabal in it's early days, so they had the entire town destroyed and framed some native tribe for the massacre. They thought they'd killed him, but the man came back to thwart them again and again.

His name....Lazarus Adams.

"Dead Man Walking" Jameston

Gravedigger

Spirit-That-Walks (Indian undead, seeks to settle a debt of honor/atonement, can't go to the happy hunting grounds until the slate is clean)

Other than that... I like. Keep it up! :D
