Autofire question

Re: Autofire question

Aaaa... RATATATATATATATATATATAT - there's a 40 shot autofire weapon in Gadgets & Gear... we could be here a while...

And that's only because the amount of Autofire needed for the 16,666 shots per Segment it's actually capable of would be disgusting.

Re: Autofire question

Yeah' date=' but probably you wouldn't have to make the Autofire rating any higher than the number of rounds the clip/magazine/belt actually holds. :)[/quote']

At that point, buy it to Zero END and say it's a Hollywood Never Runs Out Of Ammo brand gun. You're obviously not hurting for points. ;)

Seriously this might be a case where it is best just to buy up the damage dice significantly and then possibly apply the Reduced Penetration Limitation (or something like it), since you would never realistically be able to actually spread those rounds much (if one hits, several are almost guaranteed to hit the same target at the same time, and probably very close to the same spot).

Don't forget that Charges replace END - so you don't spend END to fire, say, a pistol.

Howdy!

Suppose you had a Power with Charges and "Cost END". How do you figure the END used? AP/10 per shot, or per use?

Very true. I've often built 'street sweeper' weapons like this with AE Line or Cone to simulate so much flying lead you just can't dodge it. :)

Threnody - AP/10 per shot.

This is the best way I've seen of handling a burst from a high rate autofire:

Actually, there is merit to even doing so for a burst of three. Test have shown that at the rate of fire of most personel weapons, a burst of three pattern is tight enough for most shots to hit, if not all three. It is easier than scoring a hit by a margin of 4.

Hero is a cinematic game. The autofire advantage simulates a hail of bullets that usually cause more collateral damage than casualties. I think it would be a mistake to try to use it to model real life. Even in game terms, it's generally a bad idea to purchase autofire past 3 or 5. However, the above build really has me rethinking about Hero and realistic automatic weapons.

On the other hand, ten or more shot autofire plus AE Radius attacks is a good way to clear a crowded battlefield of agents. :)

A big "Thankee" to CrosshairCollie, Hyper-Man, an Derek Hiemforth.

Truthsayer: Yes, you can use less than 5 shots. (5ER, page 252, second paragraph, fourth sentence.)

Threnody: Per shot. (5ER, page 252, fourth paragraph, first sentence.)

Dja know the page in the real rulebook? (Not beans----reFred beans.:rofl:)
