Prisoner Exchange

Wormhole

Recommended Posts

How your character gets involved in this, I leave up to you...

Recently, the Forces of Justice™ captured Roberto, a top teir henchman of the powerful and enigmatic underworld figure known only as Mr. Tiberius. Of course, the Tiberius Syndicate has also taken one of the FoJ's best agents prisoner! After a failed rescue mission or two, the FoJ reluctantly agrees to a prisoner exchange with the Syndicate out in the middle nowhere. Tension is palpable as both sides came prepared with massive numbers of heavily armed agents, and any other combat assets they might have, should the other attempt a double-cross. From the looks of things, one wrong move by anyone in either party could mean one hell of a bloodbath. Finally, after a long silence, Roberto and the captured FoJ agent are each sent walking across the dusty clearing between the two sides. Assuming he/she would be present at this, WWYCD?

Re: Prisoner Exchange

Primadonna: she'd try to protect the FoJ agent with an invisible sonic force wall

Primaballerina: her martial arts are outgunned here; so she'd meditate to prepare a chi blast big enough to blow away all Tiberius agents at one time

Diva: her mind-controlled powers come in handy here, she'd make sure nobody pulls the trigger

Re: Prisoner Exchange

Dante would create a magical 'tracer bug' and plant it on Roberto (he's a professional stage magician in his normal ID, so his Sleigh of Hand is pretty high, it's unlikely Roberto will notice it was done).

Then it's just a matter of bird-dogging PRMIUS and/or UNTIL onto the bad guys as they make their 'getaway. :D Once everyone's ready for the surprise party, it's PHASE 12!

Re: Prisoner Exchange

*smirks* do the trade - because if Vitus can get hold of a blood sample, piece of hair, or better yet a bone sample or tooth, then he can track Tiberius anywhere. And with a group clairvoyance, a team teleporter, and a total disgred for life and property to follow it up, Tiberius will pretty quickly become a major liability to the bad guys.

Zero would want to check the team charter, just to find out if he is under any obligation to make more than one rescue attempt on the captured agent.

Re: Prisoner Exchange

Volt - If the trade is absolutly necessary and sees no other way, he'd go by himself, be careful and honorably make the trade. Otherwise a rescue mission would be possible.

Olorin - There are so many options. 1) One is Vitus's and Dante's trick. Magically bug the guy and make the trade. Followup and cause chaos.(also easiest & fastest to do) 2)Go looking like Tiberius himself (down to fingerprints, retina patterns, voice patterns and the DNA). If there were codes, Olorin would know them (magical mind reading.) If this were possible and he had the time to work it up, this is the route he would take. 3) Send a magical double to do the trade. Sneak up invisible & silent and t-port the guy we want away. Last choice, as he would not be trusted again.

Black Tiger - Swear, and make the trade, while not trusting the others. He'd vet the prisoner to make sure he was not some kind of plant.

Futurian. - Lord have mercy. Any tech present, and it would cause such chaos that recovering the guy would not be hard. However, it could cause the guy's death if Futurian missed something (like a knife). No tech present and Futurian would mutter under his breath "Aw crud. No tech. No fun at all." and make the trade.

Re: Prisoner Exchange

If the powers-that-be in charge of the good-guy side of the trade had any sense at all in the matter, Pyrie would be bound and gagged with fireproof bindings and left in the back of an armored vehicle so she couldn't do or say anything which would cause anyone to open fire. She's young, headstrong, and stupid enough to start trouble in that situation--or in any situation where diplomacy is called for.

Re: Prisoner Exchange

hfergus had a good one - exchanging the double instead of Mr. Tiberius. Call up Living Target for the job...:D

You might want to go back and reread the opening post...

Recently' date=' the Forces of Justice™ captured [b']Roberto[/b], a top teir henchman of the powerful and enigmatic underworld figure known only as Mr. Tiberius.

It was Roberto, Mister Tiberius's henchman who was captured, not Mister Tiberius himself. In fact, it's unlikely Mister Tiberius is there in person. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

My bad, misread it. So Living Target is playing the part of Roberto in the 'prisoner' exchange. And once the FoJ Agent is safe... PHASE 12! :D

Of course, Living Target could play the deep cover game and try and get close enough to Mr. Tiberius to catch him! ;)

Re: Prisoner Exchange

B]Deuce[/b] would arrange it so that it appears both the villain and the hero are caught in a massive blast in the middle of the desert, which is in fact all son et lumiere...

(In other words, IIF 3d6 Flash Attack, Sound, Mental and Sight Groups, Trigger, Megascale Explosion, 1 charge)

The villain wakes up back in the Hole after an NND attack rigged to his costume ("You really didn't think we were going to let you go back in your own costume, did you?") while the hero, of course, shows up, suitably critically "injured" in the hospital. Amazing, if it hadn't been for that big rock in the way...

If it's a double-cross -and if there's a mentalist worth their salt on the team, they should know - Deuce delivers his patented Charisma Attack on the "hero" in question while the rest of the Forces of Justice use the huge diversion to take the villain in disguise down (and if possible, more of the Syndicate too)

The presence attack: A Bible casually tossed to the prisoner: "Pray. Because The Deuce does not exchange prisoners. He only collects them."

Deuce then blames it on the most powerful baddies in the campaign outside of the Syndicate, who clearly wants Roberto dead, for doing so weakens the Syndicate in his favour...and any "Roberto" the Syndicate later finds in prison is then rumoured to be a double planted by this other villain or villainous organization.

As you can see, Deuce chooses discord among villain groups and subterfuge over a direct confrontation. A holdover from his espionage days...

Re: Prisoner Exchange

White Knight

The Tiberius Syndicate would probably need to recruit additional henchmen for the prisoner exchange. White Knight would seek employment as a henchman. Once hired, he would use the inside information to determine whether there was a double-cross in the works. If there was some kind of double-cross planned, he would pass that information along to FoJ.

During the exchange, White Knight would lay low and maintain his cover as a henchman. If a fight started, he would go for cover and wait for the chaos to provide an opportunity to change into his heroic identity.

Provided the exchange went smoothly, White Knight would maintain his cover as a henchman. As the Tiberius Syndicate began to relax, he would look for an opportunity to grab Roberto or another top tier henchman and escape with him. (Megascaled superleap allows a speedy escape.)

Multi-Man

"You said you needed an army at the prisoner exchange?"

Between duplication, summoning and images, Multi-Man can provide an apparent army. He would provide backup, but not interfere with the prisoner exchange.
