Cancer
It got so our cats would watch the squirrels but not mess with them; the squirrels did the same. I never understood how the two groups (which clearly didn't like each other) came to that working agreement.
Logan D. Hurricanes
Dex and the local squirrels have come to some sort of agreement. He doesn't even see them anymore even when they're climbing the screen right in front of him. I used to worry about him chasing them when he was smaller, but now that he is of a size that they would be no threat he has no interest. Cancer
Hobbes got to be friends with two different dogs (in sequence, two different families in the same house) across the street, but he was part of the cat-squirrel neutrality pact. Logan D. Hurricanes
A few years old, but I only now saw the update. UPDATE: A woman successfully borrowed an orange cat for a Garfield-themed dinner party for her kids, and should really win 'Mom of the Year' Tjack, Cygnia and wcw43921 1
Cancer
There was an old Eyebeam comic wherein the title character, presented with a glorious summer day, resolved to rent a dog and go to the beach.

Tjack
Maybe the cat’s intentions were benign. But when something the relative size of a fanged brontosaurus who considers you a food group starts to chase YOU, let’s see how trusting you are about his good nature.😀
