Ragnarok
I am trying to build a deflection power based upon my character using a shield to block incoming arrows/jets of flame and whatnot. Is this a good way to write it up, or am I missing something? Deflection, Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (30 Active Points); OAF Durable (-1), No Range (-1/2), Restrainable (-1/2), Real Armor (-1/4), Required Hands One-Handed (-0) Thanks, folks. Escafarc
Re: Shield-based deflection power? If you're not going to use it at range I would buy Skill levels with Block with the OAF Limit instead. The Deflection Power is so you can Block at range. Ragnarok
Re: Shield-based deflection power? Ah, ok. I had thought I could simulate it by sort of turtling up behind my shield. Thanks for the suggestion.

Err....I think he wants to block ranged attacks, and that's what Deflection is for. Unless it's changed. Edit: Hey, they changed it!! Lucius Alexander I just hide behind the palindromedary

Hyper-Man
Re: Shield-based deflection power? Does this mean I have to buy a Complication to say I CAN'T block bullets or lasers? Depending on the realism of the game I might say bullets and lasers should be built with Advantages that make them harder to block (IPE for both plus No Range Modifier & AOE 1 Hex Accurate for lasers if combined with a non-damaging targeting designator)

Killer Shrike
Re: Shield-based deflection power? Think big. You can build a whole slew of heroic abilities around the idea of a "shield fighter". A multipower w/ lockout on the slots is a common way to do it on the cheap. The only boundaries are your imagination, your character's budget, and your GM's discretion.
Narf the Mouse
Re: Shield-based deflection power?
