  1. Re: Heroes from All Fifty States I would have mentioned the Spartan theme- I mean, can you imagine a better hand-to-hand combatant than a super-Spartan? But there was a Spartan from Michigan in the original version of the 50 Superheroes.
  2. Re: Recoil First: Love the name Recoil. Before I looked at the sheet, I was sure it meant he used guns- but I can see it applying to shooting himself at his opponents with a mighty leap. Second: The "Absorption to Strength" power is no less intriguing. Especially to a player who has used it before, it can be a powerful and versatile tool. Thire: A possible table rule you can use for EC powers and END: If a power normally requires END, it can go into an EC even if it has an advantage that makes it 0 END. If a power does not normally cost END, it can go into the appropriate EC with the Limitation Costs END (-1/2 or more). Consult your GM, but the changes I am suggesting will have a beneficial effect on your point cost at any rate. Also: You may consider simply cutting the Force Field into PD and ED portions, linking the Force Field to the appropriate Absorption power (-1/2) and additionally applying the Limitations Only Up To The Amount Rolled On Absorption (-1/2). This would cut the cost of the Force Field in half: 24 Absorption 6d6 ED (to Strength) (30 Active Points); Visible (-¼) 20 Force Field (0 PD/20 ED), 0 END (+1/2) Persistent (+1/2) (40 Active Points); Linked to ED Absorption (-1/2), Only Up To The Amount Rolled On Absorption (-1/2). 24 Absorption 6d6 PD (to Strength) (30 Active Points); Visible (-¼) 20 Force Field (20 PD/0 ED), 0 END (+1/2) Persistent (+1/2) (40 Active Points); Linked to PD Absorption (-1/2), Only Up To The Amount Rolled On Absorption (-1/2). So, 128 points in your build becomes 88 points in this build, and each has the same effect. That gives you 40 points for... maybe go up to 5 SPD, add some combat skill levels, and add some ancillary and character-defining skills. I would also suggest to you that you fill at least some of those 50 points in undefined Disadvantages. Although it's hard to figure out what fits the character sometimes, it's usually better to do it and play the Disadvantages you really want than let the GM guess. But since you have played this character before, you probably have a good idea about what would fit him, Disad-wise. Best of luck with this build!
  3. Re: Immunity to Electric Attacks I would allow an exotic VPP, Cosmic, Only to Counteract Electricity-SFX Powers (-2). 20 * (+2) / (-2) = 20 control, 40 = 40 point pool... 60 active points to make the countermeasure of your choice up to 40 active points.
  4. Re: Extremely high Charactaristic used in REQUIRES SKILL ROLL why the heck would you allow a character with that kind of PRE... and why would he need powers when he can just walk into a room, demand the utter supplication of the bad guys, and throw them in jail? 130 PRE? waaah
  5. Re: Duplicator without Duplication I thought about the END part, too. He's SPD 4, END 50, REC 12. He can use his power for a few Turns before collapsing in a heap.
  6. Re: Duplicator without Duplication Note: The Incantations that this character uses is to shout or speak his name to activate the first "dupe" in whatever the power is. Then, as each dupe spawns the next one, that dupe will also say it's name. It sounds like a continuous echo as long as more dupes are being spawned. Corrected power set: 18 Multiman Duplication Elemental Control, 45-point powers. Incantations to start (-1/4) 21e Multiman Multireach: 10" Stretching x2NCV, Incantations to start (-1/4) END: 5 16e Multiman Shuffle: Sight, Hearing, Touch Group Images, -5 to PER rolls, 4" Radius (+1/2), Set Effect: create 5 copies, all scatter (character can scurry away too), Incantations to start (-1/4). END: 6 18e Multislide: 15" Teleportation, position shift, no relative velocity. Incantations to start (-1/4) END: 4 27e Multiman Cannon Fodder: 8PD/8ED, 8" Force Wall, opaque to normal sight, Incantations to start (-1/4) END: 5 17e Multi-man Pillow: Breakfall, +17 to roll, Useable By Other (+1/4), Incantations to start (-1/4) END: 0 Roll: 30- (assuming DEX 20) 8e The Big Help: Change Environment 2" Radius, all simple tasks (+1/2), +20 Long-Lasting (Permanent), Extra Time: 1 minute or more (-1 1/2), Incantations to start (-1/4). END: 4 14e Keep an Eye Out: Clairsentience for Sight, Hearing, Smell/Taste groups, 0 END (+1/2), Visible Perception Point (-1/4), Incantations to start (-1/4). 3 Extra Limbs from Extra Bodies: Extra Limbs, as many as necessary, Nonpersistent (-1/4), Drained as if in EC (-1/4), Incantations to start (-1/4) 2 I Got my Back: 360 degree sense for Normal Sight, nonpersistent (-1/4), Visible (-1/4), Drained as if in EC (-1/4), Incantations to start (-1/4). I knocked out the Bucket Brigade (superfluous) and corrected the Force Wall power (making it useable against killing attacks).
  7. Re: Cat Burgler's Glasscutter Y'know, I'm all for cats and stuff, but what if instead we decided to build The Hamburglar?
  8. Re: Duplicator without Duplication As suggested, I removed the Flight UBO power, and also removed Nonresistant DEF from Force Wall
  9. Re: Animal Messenger? It's an elemental control, actually. Seems to work better, since it's mostly attack powers that can be active at the same time. But I do want to stay away from Summon. I don't want to have to run more than one character sheet, as a rule, and so I avoid Summon and similar things. (OT check out my duplicator built without Duplication here) And... is it an incredibly stupid crappy idea to come up with a guy who fights crime with trained crows, or is it just Mrs. Split Decision making fun of me again? I can never tell.
  10. Re: Heroes from All Fifty States Michigan Wolverine: Good, if kind of vanilla, character. Need a new name. It would be like calling your hero The New York Batman or something. Wolverine is one of the few transcendent characters in comics. Everyone knows Wolverine. So even though it's obvious to the point of being a near necessity, it needs to be something else. Something like the Maize and Blue... I dunno. Or Big House.
  11. Re: Not a Dream, Not an Imaginary Story! now I owe you more rep.
  12. Re: Cat Burgler's Glasscutter thread winner
  13. Re: Cat Burgler's Glasscutter XDM: world where glass is intact to world where glass has convenient hole in it, OAF glasscutter (-1)
  14. Re: Unmaking I played a super-archer, and in his first adventure, he blinded the team with a smoke arrow, and then killed himself by firing off an Explosive arrow while so blinded. It was a hilarious mistake, but I wouldn't have been happy if he was a longtime PC. Then again, if he was a longtime PC, his player probably would have had a better grasp on his abilities.
  15. Re: Duplicator without Duplication Flight UBO: it's to simulate a bridge or assembly-line rather than reach. But it is sort of redundant. Nonresistant FW: Perhaps I misread FW then? I will have to look and rebuild.
  16. Re: Grappling Hook, 1 tool, many uses thank you! In a Multipower, you could build each of these powers as a 1-point ultra
  17. You'll have to forgive me. I don't have a great name or a background for this character sheet. He's an exercise in building a character who has powers based upon the SFX of Duplication, without using the power or any of the related powers (Summon, Follower, Multiform, and so forth). For the purposes of brevity, I will only post the relevant powers. 18 Multiman Duplication Elemental Control, 45-point powers. Incantations to start (-1/4) 21e Multiman Multireach: 10" Stretching x2NCV, Incantations to start (-1/4) END: 5 16e Multiman Shuffle: Sight, Hearing, Touch Group Images, -5 to PER rolls, 4" Radius (+1/2), Set Effect: create 5 copies, all scatter (character can scurry away too), Incantations to start (-1/4). END: 6 18e Multislide: 15" Teleportation, position shift, no relative velocity. Incantations to start (-1/4) END: 4 19e Multiman Cannon Fodder: 8PD/8ED, 8" Force Wall, opaque to normal sight, nonresistant DEF (-1/2), Incantations to start (-1/4) END: 5 17e Multi-man Pillow: Breakfall, +17 to roll, Useable By Other (+1/4), Incantations to start (-1/4) END: 0 Roll: 30- (assuming DEX 20) 9e Multiman Bucket Brigade: Flight 14" Useable By Other (+1/4), 0 END (+1/2), No NCM (-1/4) Not Useable by Self (-1/2), Only up to the limit of the natural movement of the object/person carried, or 6", whichever is less (-1/4), Only along specified path (-3/4), Incantations to start (-1/4) 18e The Big Hold-Up: 5d6, 5DEF Entangle, nonresistant DEF (-1/4), Incantations to start (-1/4). END: 5 8e The Big Help: Change Environment 2" Radius, all simple tasks (+1/2), +20 Long-Lasting (Permanent), Extra Time: 1 minute or more (-1 1/2), Incantations to start (-1/4). END: 4 14e Keep an Eye Out: Clairsentience for Sight, Hearing, Smell/Taste groups, 0 END (+1/2), Visible Perception Point (-1/4), Incantations to start (-1/4). 3 Extra Limbs from Extra Bodies: Extra Limbs, as many as necessary, Nonpersistent (-1/4), Drained as if in EC (-1/4), Incantations to start (-1/4) 2 Got my Back: 360 degree sense for Normal Sight, nonpersistent (-1/4), Visible (-1/4), Drained as if in EC (-1/4), Incantations to start (-1/4). So there's that. What do you think?
  18. Re: Grappling Hook, 1 tool, many uses Manipulating at a Distance: 20 STR TK, 0 End (+1/2) (45 Active) Only specific types of objects in specific ways (-1/2), Cannot Do Damage (-1/4), OAF (-1) (16 Real). To flip switches, grab small items, and so forth, as well as manhandle Normals. Clear the Air: Dispel gas/smoke/fog powers 9d6, one power at a time (+1/4) (47 Active), AOE: Hex (+1/2), No Range (-1/2) Extra Time: Full Phase (-1/2) OAF (-1) (15 Real). Swing it above your head to clear out nasty pollutants.
  19. Re: Animal Messenger? Okay! Now we're getting somewhere. Unfortunately, the birds are a SFX of a group of powers- there is no 'bird' follower, DNPC, etc.
  20. Re: Animal Messenger? we can say it is the former. Make the bird the SFX.
  21. I'd like to be able to send one of my trained, but otherwise normal crows to deliver and retrieve messages. How shall I build it?
  22. Re: Useless Hero Facts Excellent teachers don't bury you under textbooks. They can bury you with the sheer power of their teaching!
  23. Re: The cranky thread Nobody asked me if I wanted to turn socialist! Those rat bastards.
