  1. Re: How to build MMA Style Martial Arts My suggestion for creating a MMA style was to start from the generic style and add from there. But speaking of holds(grabs) does any one else find the 5th ed rules alittle too complex versus the old 4th? In my experience the rules really makes grapplers worse to the point why grab anyone?
  2. Hello Mr. Long, I have a minor question which has been bugging me. I would like to put a power with a weapon whin limits who can use the power. Now I don't think that it should be accesible to anyone which takes away the weapon, but still be usuable by someone with the proper training. Either by weapon familiarity or if character bought the power. I'm thinking of using IAF (-1/2) for the limitation because it would be inobvious to the person without the knowledege. For example: Sai: +3d6 HA (OAF) +10 STR only with Disarm (IAF) Thanks for the response. (Hopefully I was clear enough)
  3. Re: Building a power as an skill (Fred) Thanks Ghost Angel and nice catch on the 2D6. I always forget about that!
  4. Hello ya'll, My character, Yun In-Tak (a Fantasy Ninja Hero) is an expert practioner in the use of the War Fan. I' trying to show his expertise with the fan by giving him some special skills. I know that a normal HA doesn't add to his nerve strike. And I feel that being hit by a fan should hurt more. Also I don't want to just give extra DC as I want just a specific manuever to be better. Also I'm going to use this as an example for other skills. So, I would just like to double check to see if this build is correct. Enhanced Nerve Strike with War Fan: +1d6 HA (5pts) NND1(+1) HA lim(-1/2) OIF(-1/2) *Focus is any type of Fan Act 10 pts Real 5 pts Any comments are welcomed.
  5. Re: Limited powers in a focus The more I think about though, and maybe getting confused, is that if you define the weapon as oif, and I'm thinking of Hi (fire) from the original ninja hero, then the weapon cannot be taken from you in combat and used against you. Although out of combat is a different story. I'm thinking that this isn't too terribly different then with the skill idea. Also you can look at it that instead of an advantage, your not as many points from an oaf lim., therefore you shouldn't be as disadvantaged. (Also, I'm really trying to put the kibosh only any arguments-that even though its defined as universal, by common sense may not be able to do it.)
  6. Re: Limited powers in a focus That's what I was thinking and calling it skill for a lack of a better term.
  7. Hello Ya'll, I been thinking lately about powers in weapons-as stated, if the weapon is defined as an universal then anyone can use the power. That is fine. But there are certain situations which I feel that not everyone should have access that the power. Example is found in Classic Enemies 4th ed. The Destroyer special has a note that the +6 OCV should not be used by everyone, only those that have either a weapon Familarity or something similiar. Now the blaster (I believe 9d6 N) is available to anyone. Now the book doesn't have a limit on the combat levels-I'm thonking that it should. So the question is what sort of limitation should I use? I'm thinking that if its worth points, then it should be only - 1/2 (I thinking IAF, whereas the inobvious part is refering to whether the character has the appropriate skill or not or they could make a int roll at -3) Comments are very much apprieciated. Thanks in advance.
  8. Re: What is the change of Hand Attack in 6e ? Well I was trying to keep it simple. But apparently I'm going to have to do it this way. Btw, I ve been thinking though that to do something like this though I'm going to give the disarm iaf lim to represent that only those with training can acccess it. Thoughts? To clarify, say sai +3 HA (everyone can use it). +10 str only to disarm; +2 Ocv only to disam (only people with the weapon fam or in super someone with the power, such as Seeker, or something else like weapon master--able to use any weapon effectively).
  9. Re: What is the change of Hand Attack in 6e ? For example I always thought that weapons such as sai which gives you a +2 ocv to disasrm should be allowed to use its HA to increase its disarm str. As it is now, the disarm strength is the same (barring extra DC and such) whether you have a sai or are barehanded. (Yes I am going to allow a house rule to use the +2 ocv to convert to dc). Does that help ? BTW, I don't think every weapon would have somthinglike this.
  10. Re: What is the change of Hand Attack in 6e ? So you still can't use HA other than Strike? : (
  11. i just looked out thepdf Mr. Long put out, and it mentioned that Hand attack was changed significantly. So I'm very curious to those who got 6th-what's the change?
  12. I'm probaly overcomplicating this but, If I wanted to build a sword as in the newest Star Trek movie (the one Sulu had), do I have to buy some form of shrinking to represent its collapsed form? Or is it special effect, or bonus to concealmet roll? Any advice is welcomed and also thanks in advance !
  13. Just a simple question which has been bothering me for awhile. When I bought my copy of Enemies III the opening of the paragrapgh with Aerion is blank. What is his real name? It finally hit me that I could ask on the boards !
  14. Re: Cult Of The Red Banner The only thing I was going to do recently was to introduce Iron from WotD to my street champion player. I was going to have him fight the gang called the yellow devils (they are a secular gang-which inadventaly helps the Red Banner Cult by raising money and other activites.) Then when the player becomes a nuissance, the mystical conncetions were going to be felt.
  15. Re: Power "Cooldown": how to write up It's not reduced by 1/2, it's halved. Oops my bad... I knew there was a 1/2 somewhere though.
  16. Re: Power "Cooldown": how to write up I looked at the rules last night and I'm thinking that with a -1/4 less lim. would be fair. (Its a -1/2 lim. less if you have a weapon which takes extra time to setup but then can be used each phase to attack thereafter. Exsample were a majic wand or a cannon.)
  17. Re: Master of the Unseen Fist Thank you ans as usual I mis-read the post. Blast those 8- rolls!!
  18. Re: Master of the Unseen Fist Just thinking, wasn't there a villian in 4th with this type power. I can picture him and dragon I think was in his title. But if you could track him down, it would give you a basis to work off of.
  19. Re: Master of the Unseen Fist I thought that as long as you paid for the endurace the grab didn't go away with TK and you could grab MORE people as long as the endurance held?
  20. Re: Master of the Unseen Fist I've tried all three aproaches-and none so far were satisfatory. But I'm going to steal...ur borrow your title of the Master of the Unseen Fist. When I did try using it with stretching, I did buy it with Fine Manipulation.
  21. One more quick question, then I'll leave this horse alone. Can you (with permission) use HA for other uses of strength-such as for Disarm? I have the feeling of no. But if yes it would solve my perceived dilema of the past posts. And as always-thanks for your time.
  22. Hello Steve, After my last post (btw thanks for the response), I realized what I'm looking to do is limit the lifting part of strength. I.e. Seeker still has 25 STR but is only able lift @ 20 STR (400 kg). For the life of me I cannot find how much that type of limitation is worth. Again any help is appreciated!
  23. Re: Justifying Playable SPD Always been curious why when we give some training, we instantly increase the speed. I think that with a little training, the character would get an increase in DEX. This would simmulate a quicker reaction that cops and fire-fighters display fine. P.S. I'm NOT condeming your scale-just curious.
  24. Re: Vehicle body Thanks for the response !
