  1. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.

I had a period of down time from publishers projects and commissions and my own projects moved to the fore. Now, I'm swamped with (shameless plug time) for World of the Dead for Eden Studios... Zombies in all flavors!!!... and the Mastermind Manual, Green Ronin's expanded optional rules for M&M. And, oh yeah, finishing up one L5R card.

But I'm definitely having fun working and have a nice groove going. Which is following a down period when I was sick after New Year's. I definitely have cycles of high production, low production. This is a high production time.

You should consider doing this for a living.

I don't know' date=' Nothing to Contribute worked for me. ;)[/quote']

Well then, I have nothing to contribute, either! I mean, I have lots of nothing to contribute! Just look at my posts! Worthless! Completely noncontributional (or something like that) to the world at large!

Was that over the top? I thought it was a little over the top. Oh well...

NT: signs your pet might be possessed.

You keep hearing voices just before entering a room that say things like "Berkowitz was an idiot."

Edit: Rats...didn't have a new topic ready. Okay, um....

  4. Re: Pulparize It!

Real Genius - A couple of young scientists at a prominant college in the 1930s complete their term project - a vehicle-mounted laser! -- only to discover their professor is secretly working for the Nazis and plans to give them the laser to destroy enemy tanks and ships long before their own weapons come into range. After outsmarting the professor and putting the kabosh on the Nazis' plan--all without ever actually revealing their involvement--the young adults decide to ferret out and ruin other Nazi 5th Column scientists and their minions, including their new Nemesis, Professor Atherton!

PS. Not picking at you Vanguard00. You have a valid complaint. I just feel that the artist has a valid reason for doing it' date=' too.[/quote']

Understood. Like I said, it usually doesn't interfere with my overall impression of the picture--I like or dislike in spite of that sort of thing. It's something that jumps out at me, is all. I do it watching TV shows and movies, too.

  6. Re: SciFi Colonists

I don't see why a mix of the two wouldn't be feasible. For example, a core of scientists, colonists and even military/security, mix liberally with a selection of "useful" laborers and the like culled from minimum security prisons. Not every criminal is a hardcore criminal, and an indentured servitude in return for a reduced sentence might entice many of the undesirables and still give the government a practical workforce. Use of control collars or somesuch would probably be the best bet of keeping the criminals in line until they've earned their freedom.

    Just an idea.

  7. Re: movies/t.v. vs comic books

-like Lonna lang in Smallville? in the comics was there such a person?

Most definitely. Lana and Clark were high school sweethearts until he revealed his secret to her and left Smallville. She came and went in his life for a while. She was even a bridesmaid in Clark's and Lois Lane's wedding. She was married to Pete Ross, had a child (premature), had that child stolen by a Lex Luthor-inhabited Doomsday, and is still around, AFAIK. Pete Ross was VP to Luthor's Presidency, and has recently taken over the Big House (I think...I'm behind on Superman stories). Lana is still around, but is (or already has) leaving Pete Ross.

-spiderman, doesnt doc oc have 4 mechanical arms? and the whole web shooting out of his wrists, doesn't it come out of a canister he created?

As Hermit said, Doc Ock has always had 4 mechanical arms, bringing his total to 8 appendages. Spidey has always used artificial webbing until very recently (not including when he wore the black-and-white-pre-Venom costume, which shot a version of webbing all it's own without need for cartridges). Note that "Ultimate Spider-Man" and the old "Spider-Man 2099" have/had natural web shooters.

-Xmen story line...i have entirely to many questions and dont know were to begin..but xmen was never a strong suit for me any ways.

Basic elements of the X-Men stories have been retained, as have the basic stories and personalities of the main characters, but to try and go point-by-point between the movies and the comics would be...well, pointless. The X-Men movies have compromised a great deal of story in order to get to the big screen. Too many characters to develop fully, so they cheat and give you a short abbreviated version that's more a nod of respect to the originals rather than a true adaptation.

-Batman (the new one that just came out)- i dont remember him going to another country and learning to fight like that. and the batmobile??? hell the whole story and idea.

There have been allusions to his training off and on, but I believe Frank Miller's "Batman: Year One" storyline is considered "canon" these days. It's always been my understanding that Bruce Wayne did, in fact, travel a bit in order to fully train himself. The idea of "Batman Begins" is actually fairly faithful to the general storyline of "Year One", but of course it's been changed to meet on-screen time constraints and general pacing.

Couldn't tell ya about the Batmobile. It's had so many friggin' versions who knows what's canon anymore...

  8. Re: Need Villain Team Name

    Go with something simple:

    Alliance

    Nemesis

    The Elite

    Union

    League

Deathstrike (I just threw that one in cuz I always wanted a villain team named that)

Or don't give them a name yet at all. Maybe something will occur to you later or the PCs themselves will give you an idea.

  9. Re: MetaCyber

Took me a bit to catch up on this thread, and there's still more I have to ponder, but allow me to say that I'm impressed (as always) by your attention to detail and the scope of your settings. I just don't know where you find the time...

Good stuff, Ed. Keep it up.

  10. Re: On Fantasy [G.R.R.M.]

I thought Arya was a bit lackluster in FFC. Her story was entirely uninteresting (not as boring as Samwell's though).

I have to disagree also. I see possible "Empire Strikes Back" type stuff in the future as our wannabe assassin Arya goes off to help her family. I think all of this back story of breaking her down and building her back up will become quite telling in future books.
