  1. Re: Physical and Energy Defense I personally like more characteristics than less. I also think that there is a good point where things get too complicated. As such PD, ED, and MD is enough. I can build the worlds best Mentalist with the ability to put up energy shields but be taken down from nothing more than a rock thrown by an angry mob. Or I could play Null whose system shielding has large vulnerabilities to Energy attacks due to lack of field testing but able to successfully tangle with bricks and her unusual mind gives her decent Mental Defense to make Mind Controls and Telepathy weak enough to avoid severe problems but not so strong that they can't knock her out after a couple of well placed Ego Attacks. I also of the camp that Comeliness should be a Characteristic, not a Perk. But that is another discussion for another day.
  2. Re: Shielding a Base Powers bought on a base cover the entire base. In this case you want to apply a power to only part of a base. There are two ways to do this that I can see. Concealment 15- (21 Active Points) Base Lab Only (-1 1/2). Total Cost: 8 points. Invisibility to Radio Sense Group; Reduce Endurance Cost (0 END; +1/2) (15 Active Points); Base Lab Only (-1), Only Hides Contents of Area, Existence of Shielding Can Be Detected (-1/2). Total Cost: 6 points. Add on OAF Immobile if you desire.
  3. Re: Physical and Energy Defense Because it creates diversity and allows for dynamic characters. In real life, there are some people that can put their hand in an open flame and not feel any pain and rarely get burned. These same people can still be hit in the back of the head with a bat and knocked out.
  4. Re: Turakian vs Valdorian? I suppose for what you are asking you can say that Valdorian Age's magic system can be used both before and after Turakian Age. Valdorian Age comes from metaphysical entities that, presumably, get their powers from the Gods. And as such the metaphysical entities are less forgiving in what they can be used for. So in this, I could see that it was only during the Turakian Age that the Gods felt humans were worthy of recieving the power directly.
  5. Re: Turakian vs Valdorian? Oh... you can cast spells. Fireblast, yeap an Elementalist do this. You just need to make sure you make your Sorcery Roll.
  6. Re: 25-7-11 24-7-14-14-3 5-3-26-8 20-11-23-14-11-1-8 You will note I changed the text I quoted before I posted. I tried to give you rep but I was either out of rep to give or have given you rep recently. Couldn't remember which it was.
  7. Re: Turakian vs Valdorian? Well, before you do that, the Valdorian Age book is really well done. I normally love high fantasy, but the low fantasy system for Valdorian Age is amazing.
  8. Re: 25-7-11 24-7-14-14-3 5-3-26-8 20-11-23-14-11-1-8 I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to be posting the code on the website. Steve has no problem with people who figure it out though. Just keep the code private.
  9. Re: 25-7-11 24-7-14-14-3 5-3-26-8 20-11-23-14-11-1-8 I was wondering who was going to notice that first.

  11. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I must be an alcoholic. I had my first drink at 9:00 am and was passed out drunk before noon.
  12. Re: Valdorian Age: Just Who Where The Gods? Yeah, so I'm an idiot. I should read all of Valdorian Age before asking these questions.
  13. Re: Turakian Age Question I just discovered that the answer to my question is actually listed in Valdorian Age. Poteidan is the best fitting Old God for my needs.
  14. I have a question I was hoping someone could help me with. I have Valdorian Age and I have been informed that the gods are all listed in the Turakian Age Sourcebook. Well, I need some help because I won't be able to get Turakian Age for a little while. Is there a god that fits the domain of Ice? If not specifically for Ice, is there a god that covers the domain of Water?
  15. Re: Valdorian Age: Just Who Where The Gods? I am greatly offended at my blatent error in both my title and my original post.
  16. I have Valdorian Age and obviously not the Turakian Age. The Valdorian Age says pretty much, the gods left because Valdor was killed. Who where the gods anyway? If your going to be running a campaign, it would kind of be nice to know who had been around and had been worshipped so that you can design old temples and ancient religious relics for the signs of the old gods. So if someone could share this with me, I would appreciate it.
  17. Re: Anybody playing Valdorian Age? Ah, I see, it was a "prefer to use" section I was reading.
  18. Re: Anybody playing Valdorian Age? I got the book today. Overall it was very excellent. I felt there were a lot of places that more information was needed on. For example, while the book goes great depth on the magic system, I don't feel like their is any difference between the different types of elementalists. Also because elementalists are considered one group you get 9 necromancy spells and a single water elementalist spell. Otherwise I really like this book.
  19. Re: Musings on Random Musings Just took a fun escalation. Guy had three overdraft charges of $31.00 each. It wasn't a bank error but we gave him the money back. Unfortunately, we accidently gave the total back twice. So instead of being rebated $93, he was rebated $186. One of our departments caught some of this and placed a charge on his account for $62. The guy simply did not understand that it was because we gave him more money than we charged him.
  20. Re: Musings on Random Musings I've only waited 27 months for this. It also means that there is less people can do to screw around with me at work. Oh yeah, and the raise is nice too.
  21. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Hmm, I guess I have been giving out reputation more lately than before.
  22. Re: Aldaric Gaming Presents: The Illuminati I would imagine they were not aware of the Council as an entity but had seen signs of some group out there. I can see all of this working though. That would be a bug. When I created The Illuminati I had only one campaign setup, Easthaven. I copied the sidebar, header, and main viewing system over and cut out all of the extra links keeping only one for overview, one for detailed information, and one for view all entries. I should have had the view all entries refer back to campaign information until I got that link fully implimented. I clearly did not. I'll get it fixed.
  23. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I was just promoted at work.
  24. Re: Aldaric Gaming Presents: The Illuminati I like that idea. Even the name of the illuminati group invokes something that it isn't creating even seeming more incoherent system.
