  3. Re: Companions of an Uncertain Fate I would hate to see it end, as it honestly has been fun. That being said, I am pretty much screwed over availability-wise for at least the next month. At my job, I typically produce 30-40 'units' a week. Now that same military that kept Starwolf away last night has decided that they want 300 units... in 3 weeks. And, a month ago, they cut the work force at my job to the point where there are 4 departments, and I am the only one in two of them. BUT: I do think that the Hero 6th Maptools project is worthwhile, and do not plan on stopping contributions, time and energy permitting, of course.
  4. Re: Companions of an Uncertain Fate this is dalt's roomate, he got stuck working over, not sure when he'll be home, he wanted me to post this.
  5. Re: Companions of an Uncertain Fate I don't sees it.
  6. Re: Convertiong 5e FH to 6e FH I really don't think there is a reason a straight port of a 5e character to 6e would not be just as effective. Most will suffer some point inflation from the decoupling of Characteristics, but the other semi-major changes (the loss of the Independent Limitation, for example), affect items that a typical FH character doesn't actually pay points for. Magic is a possible exception - if you used an EC to simulate a Magic Pool, then the change to Unified Power will add a few points.
  7. Re: Companions of an Uncertain Fate If you need time, take it. Things happen, and I don't mind waiting for the dust to settle.
  8. Re: Companions of an Uncertain Fate I'm hoping to be there tonight. I felt like crap all day at work, now that I'm home we will see if a couple hours of temperatures 20-25 degrees cooler gets rid of this headache and makes me feel like doing something besides sleep.

  11. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares It's been done, though not under that name. A buddy of mine, who loves zombie movies, did a search on Netflix and ended up with "Otto; or, Up with Dead People", which is apparently an independent effort (so independent that IMDB has no mention of it) at shooting a 'documentary' about the growing phenomenon of 'gay zombies'. The small part of it that I saw seemed basically an exercise in filming guys making out with one another, with the addition of zombie make-up. Not my cup of tea, and it definitely had more emphasis on 'gay' than 'zombie'.

  13. Re: 6th Edition Mega-Scale and Movement If you only buy 1m of Teleport, any use of it (Megascale or not) is a Full Move, so that would be a reason to buy at least 2m.

  15. Re: Dragons Smart PCs don't mess with Dragons. Stupid PCs do mess with Dragons, once. Mechanics aside, that sums things up nicely.
  16. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares More respectable than the porn movie I envisioned.
  17. Re: Dragons I use the -DCV size modifier for any attack that simply attempts to hit the creature (whether for general damage or a hit location roll), but not for called shots. It doesn't seem to cause issues, and it avoids the whole meta-gamey 'stand-back and headshot' approach. Even then, any Dragon worth slaying isn't going to stay at that range anyways, so that first volley better count.

  19. Re: Running Hero at Gaming Conventions For a convention game, another option is to dispense with the speed chart completely at game time. Simply write down the character's names in the order they would act, and cross the name off (or make a mark) when they take their action. If they abort, then you mark off the next instance of the character's name, as they have already 'used' that action. You can put several names on the same line (if there is a DEX roll required to see which of several equal speed characters acts first). I would suggest making a small mark or line to distinguish segment changes, just to keep track of when someone is eligible to Abort. After the last name in the order for a Turn, put (Post 12) in the list, than start all over. EX: Hong Kong Ptooooey: Martial Artist and tobacco chewer: DEX 15, SPD 5 Brick Outhouse: Strong Man with body odor: DEX 11, SPD 4 The other guy: normal with delusions of greatness: DEX 10, SPD 2 We'll start on 12, then plot out 2 turns. HKP BO Tog (Post-12) HKP BO + HKP + BO Tog + HKP + BO + HKP + HKP BO Tog (Post-12) HKP BO + HKP + BO Tog + HKP + BO + HKP + HKP BO Tog (Post-12) I just used + signs to indicate a 'segment' change where the anyone who had acted last above the + could abort, the mark doesn't need to be that distinct. Also, separate turns could just be separate columns, so you could fit a goodly number across one sheet. If you are NOT using Pre-generated characters, then you obviously cannot prepare this ahead of time, but for a Pre-gen convention game, it works fine, and is less mechanical.
  20. Re: Need helping making a power, and a small question I read this as a "Charge" (Full-Move or Move-Through) Martial Maneuver. and that can certainly be limited, as you say.

  22. Re: An Orc in New York I agree, I think such a scenario would end fairly quickly and badly (for the Orcs, and possibly for some random New Yorkers). One way to give them a 'non-fighting' chance would be to allow them to understand English, but still, Orcs aren't normally portrayed as being especially cooperative. If you can figure out a non-cheese way to pull it off, I'd be very impressed.
  23. Re: Dead Zone Retrocognition/Precognition Clairsentience is usually thought of to operate in 'real time' - you view 5 minutes (present), it takes 5 minutes. Since you are talking about Retro/Precog, it can take as long or as little time as you like (and the GM allows). If it is acceptable that the vision is 'dumped' instantly into the character's mind, then there is nothing wrong with that. In this case, I would remove the Blackout and AT least the 'unaware' from Concentration. ( I actually wouldn't normally use the 2 together anyways, it's double-dipping IMO).
  24. Re: Skunks The other option is Summon. Since skunks aren't much in the way of points (79 in the Bestiary), so that's a 16 point base Summon before any Adders or Limitations, you can probably get it down to 5 or so with what you described. The Mental Link (at least to Summon) can be explained as SFX, and with 'arrives under own power' and 'summoned creature must inhabit locale' you get the time delay. All the options I've seen presented so far can be valid, but you need to look at how others might acquire (or want to acquire) similar abilities and make sure you are comfortable with the balance.
