I have seen Stallone's "Cobra"--and the similarities between it and Frank Miller's "Dark Knight" are downright astounding. Both lead characters are play-by-their-own-rules types with little to no respect for higher authority or the rights of the accused. Both have to contend with what are basically armies of murder cultists led by a monstrous yet charismatic figure. Both have to contend with people in authority who are, quite frankly, idiots. (With Cobra one of his fellow detectives claims his "army theory" is a bit weak--this after over a dozen cars attack Cobra and the witness he's trying to protect while transporting her to a supposedly safe location. With Batman it's the Arkham psychologist with the Harpo hair, the Chaplin mustache, and the smiley-face T-shirt who certifies both Two-Face and The Joker--The JOKER!--as being fit to return to society.) And finally, there are these bits of dialogue--
BATMAN: "This isn't a battlefield--it's an operating table. And I'm the surgeon."
COBRA: "You're the disease. I'm the cure."
You could almost accuse one of swiping off the other, had they not been released the same year.

"Is that so? I would advise against listening to one of his 'tales', for they are treacherous; you are liable to slip and fall into a coma."

Goodberry is broken in the Baldur's Gate CRPG, because you can generate massive amounts and store them for later; in actual tabletop (A)D&D, the healing effect is a nice bonus, but these divinely-infused morsels of natural goodness are handy because they obviate the need for bulky rations...as long as berries can be procured.

Elsewhere, someone had commented that the original character image (do not view the middle to bottom of the webpage unless you are thoroughly familiar with the lass) reminded them of Princess Victoria of Sweden. Me, being absolutely clueless regarding the reference, looked up the woman in question; sure enough, I now agree. Both Skie and Victoria are nobility...though the former is a sheltered Thief desperate for adventure (I can't speak to the proclivities of the latter ). Given the fact that other portraits from that same CRPG are based on real people, such an inspiration wouldn't be a terribly surprising "revelation", if true.

This seems like a roundabout way for people who support the status quo and believe us to be falling away from it to call themselves strong and their opponents weak, ie. an elaborate ego-stroke. Basically just saying, "Things were bad, then people like me made it better, and we made it so great that now ungrateful people are trying to wreck it because they don't get how great I am and have been at all moments in history. I guess I'm just too awesome for my own good, poor me."
People have different ideas of what's authoritarian and what's not, and what's "good times" and what's not, based on their personal ideology, it's not an objective scale by any measure. This perspective of yours has many unspoken assumptions baked into it, both about what constitutes authoritarian societies and what constitutes good versus bad times.
