Re: Tac-nukes vs. Nuclear Warheads I was flipping through the GURPS Ogre for the Ogre/GEV setting I hope to create... and the biggest weapon on the battlefield is a 100 KT Cruise Missile, I should look back up in the thread and see what kind of damage that would do. (A lot to be sure.) As far as Putin... I think there are some worrisome things going on however you slice it. Whenever I hear this idea of a strong Russia that seems to be promulgated there, it does make me worry. Just because the guy is popular doesn't mean that his actions and the actions of his party aren't going to cause geopolitical problems for Europe and the US in the days to come. And it's hard to believe that the government doesn't have something to do with the fact that high-profile journalists are getting murdered on a semi-regular basis.

    Re: Ace HERO A couple of weeks ago I heard a story on NPR about a nearly forgotten author that wrote an amazingly tough-minded and interesting series of novels about WWI Aces. He was British, and I can't for the life of me remember the guy's name. Any help out there? But a game about Aces.... v. cool. I'd definitely recommend The Ultimate Vehicle and the extended vehicle combat rules for your perusal.

  11. Very interested to see that Steve included a "what if the world ended in the year 1001" setting for PA. Before I got the book, it occurred to me that you could do a very cool PA game set as Rome was falling to the Barbarian Hoard. Very pleased to see that the book has something akin to that idea... as usual PA Hero looks like it's going to be a tremendously thoughtful effort.

  13. Hey Guys, Just wanted to see if anyone has anything to share about how the alternate vehicle combat rules in TUV play? Specifically: Complex Vehicle Action, Complex Vehicle Damage (those nifty hit location/damage tables), & The Random Road Generator. So, I'm looking for things you like, things to watch out for, etc. And if BobG is around, I'd be curious to see if he'd recommend any tweaks now that it's been out for a few years. TIA, CorPse

  21. Re: Tac-nukes vs. Nuclear Warheads Good point, but I'm working up some stuff for an Ogre conversion and standard ammo appears to be tac nuke shells... I'm just trying to figure out where to go in terms of Damage and DEF before I start working out other mechanics.
  22. Well, Wasn't sure where to put this one, but here goes. Anybody have a sense of how to model tactical nuclear weapons (nuclear tipped missiles that fighters might carry, howitzer rounds, etc.) verses the kind of warheads you find on ICBMs? Is the damage the same, but with a larger area for ICBMs? Or is it matter of more megatons equal a much bigger blast. The books I've got seem to show an ICMB topping out at a 20d6 RKA with lots of other special effects. Thoughts? Suggestions? I'll take my answers in the morning...
