  1. Yes I saw that one, but I think quality was lacking. Right, Drizzt. LOL. I thought Kostner's Robin Hood was far better then many of the older versions. I'm not much of a Robin Hood fan anymore.
  2. Awesome. Jar Jar Binks needed to be done away with, to bad he wasn't. I think Daredevil was done fairly well. What do you folks think? Juries still out on the Incredible Hulk for me. I never like his comics anyway, too depressing and moody. I could only read them for so long. I'd give the movie a B or C+. Take Care.
  3. Thanks Derek, where is that 4th Edition Rulebook anyway? LOL
  4. Well, simply adding the component of magic, would change historicity of historical fantasy, I think. At least a type of magic that is completely under the magic users control, and not subject to demonic and other forces. I think we are using the definition of fantasy too broadly, I hate to quote WOTC, but the component that makes fantasy, fantasy, is magic. Even if this magic takes the form of fantastic physically impossible feats. I don't think the old Robin Hood movies, or "Flesh and Blood," meets that criteria.
  5. Re: Re: Re: Hero is broken LOL. Actually, the criticism was about lack of consistency and reality, so that was the context of my statement. But veeeeeery funny. LOL.
  6. Yes 4 points a level would make it 0 endurance (+1/2), plus persistant (+1/2). But don't forget special effect. Why is it that your character's flight doesn't turn off when he's unconscious? For people who aren't familiar with the rules, you folks did pretty well. I've played Hero Games for 21 years, and you figured it out fine.
  7. Ummmm, I remember some scaled reptilian creature breathing fire. I remember this creature being called a dragon. I don't remember a stinger tail.
  8. My understand is that its not density increase, but armor. According to the old Marvel Universe comics they put out. Hardened? I don't know, good question. Probably.
  9. I agree, save my poor eyes. lol. Sometimes I think people go too far with realism, this is comics!!! LOL When's the last time you saw an 12 foot tall green-skinned mugger in an alleyway? BTW did you notice in the one scene with the mutated dogs, that the hulk grew and turned darker green? Cool.
  10. Try watching the Hulk, great graphical representation superleap. LOL Don't forget springboard effects. If a character uses a wall as a springboard, I don't think the height limitation would be required.... Of course the logistics of using a wall, might requiring the climbing skill, or the clinging power.
  11. Yes, I think this will work. I did this in my own campaign a few years ago. Works well
  12. I love the costume of Nighthawk. A Batman-type. I don't like Ironclad. Defender is nice to see back, though. Soltaire was great. The other 4th Edition were o.k., except Obsidian. I really liked Obsidian. I liked Rose from 3rd Edition. Hated Giant from third edition; who want's their powers to be taken away every battle? Giant had all his powers in an OAF. Hmmmmmm, if he was my rival I would spend lots of points in Martial Grab. LOL Many other characters were good in the HERO supplements. Too many to mention here. Generally, Hero Games did a good job with many of their villians and heros, I think, but I could think of a few that needed a redesign. Some just had too many wasted points.
  13. Re: Hero is broken I think this example is badly formed. Critical hits being used? Figure the OCV and DCV and the respective critical hit probabilities, then calculate. Second, you are using averages only and not accounting for variations in dice rolls. Third, well, when was the last time you saw a human being, of large size or not, with martial arts or not, take out an elephant with a fist? LOL Never! That's what elephant guns are for.
  14. Re: I thought of some more It's very simple. Have Hero put together a computer game which rolls all the dice. Or better yet, and much easier, find one of the many random roll generators for computers already out there. It would be easier to find such generic roll generators, though, it wouldn't include all the proper skills and their combination/complimentary rolls. But is there any shortcut for good, solid thinking? Planning your skills and strategy is essential to good play, and this can't be rushed. But at least the dice turns will be resolved quickly with a computer model.
  15. Re: Input on a Vampire Campaign! What about mundane magic items, like holy water, roses (yes roses where used in the book and acted like holy water), crucifixes, etc.? I always thought that vampires should have a susceptability to such items, rather then giving them power of themselves. But the more I think about it, easier it would be easier to make them like weapons and free; effecting only specific creatures (vampires, mummies, etc). How's that sound to folks?
  16. Re: Re: Oriental You forgot the treewalking, and running on water. LOL:D
  17. Re: Re: Oriental Iron Monkey is great, if you can stand subtitled movies. Very 1st Edition D&D-like monks. Brought back some good memories of my 11th level lawful good monk - LOL. Anyway, I think we can all agree that, while the D&D movie made a breakthrough for Fantasy in the movie industry, it was not the best example of Fantasy. For plot, special effects good for the time, and the feel of realistic and historical fantasy, Dragonslayer is tops for 1980s movies in my book. Definately far better than Dragonheart. I hoping a movie about EarthSea, by Ursula Le Guin will come out. Thats another top series, in my book; at least the first four books and Tehanu. But I'm sure sooner or later a book of Shannara will come out, by Terry Brooks. I'm not a big fan of this series, though. Too me it's too much like eating popcorn, to J.R.R. Tolkien's hot buttered corn bread.
  18. I agree D-Man. The Following list notes rating (stars): Western Mythology: Excalibur *** (1982?)(Academy Award Winner for Special Effects) Fellowship of the Ring (2001) **** (Academy Award Winner for Special Effects) The Two Towers (2002) ****(Academy Award Winner for Special Effects) Dragonslayer (1981) **** Eastern Mythology: Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Academy Award Winner) (2001) **** Sinbad (All Titles) many *** or ****
  19. Well, when compared to an unrivaled skill roll, this is true. When trying to figure adjusted percentage for success, compared to a rival skill roll by an adversary, this is needed.
  20. Re: Re: Magic Item Aesthetics Neither did I say you were. But it takes alot to satisfy someone whose played roleplaying games as long as I have. Subtlety is key. I won't get into a discussion here about creativity, having studied it for so long in school and work. Many people can be creative, but do they have quality creativity? I wouldn't say so, that's why I stopped reading fantasy books so long ago, except for a couple a year. Nothing worth my time IMHO. But maybe this discussion is best left for another forum. Take care.
  21. Re: Re: Magic Item Aesthetics You funny Agent X. I suggested no such thing. (Notices Agent might be trying to get my in trouble with others... grrrrrrr ) LOL:eek:
  22. O.K. my guesses were close enough for guess work. Now for the really tough part Trebuchet....What percentage chance is a 25 or less?
  23. Re: Big Blindspot in Skill Ranks? Oh, contraire. Spidey almost always surprises the thugs, even villians with average senses, like Rhino. I think we could say that those who spot him, have higher perception rolls, like Blade. For those supers with higher senses, spotting Spidey is old hat. But for Rhino or competent normals, spidey becomes the demon from the shadows. Sounds ok for a 30 Dex. In long, keep in mind that a 12- or less is about 70% effective. With an 11- perception roll (60% effective) that means, on the average, that a normal perception roll would spot Spidey about 80% of the time. (Someone check my math please...) I dont think that reflects accurately Spiderman's stealth ability. I wouldn't expect Wolverine to be fooled at all by Spidey, but normals should be fooled most of the time. I think a 15- is about 92% chance of success, but against an 11- roll that falls to 32% chance of success of hiding, and a 58% chance of being spotted. All this doesn't consider other factors like complimentary skills of local knowledge, concealment, etc. on both parties account. In short, Spidey needs a high roll (16-) just too fool the normal villians about 32% of the time, and like I said they usually don't spot him at all. As a matter of fact I can't think of a time they did spot him, unless he was drugged, stunned, or severly injured and bleeding. Just remember that Spidey in basically invisible to your normal, but plain to see to a super with enhanced senses. Based on this I would think Spidey needs more stealth, how about a 25- (160% chance of success), this would more reflect the ability for him to be spotted by normals, giving him a 100% chance of success versus an 11- perception. Funny what analysis of numbers and a real understanding of enhanced senses can reveal, eh bub? (Puts stoogey out in palm of his hairy hand.)
  24. Oh well, put them in a situation with a character who can trash any of them, and they have to talk their way out.
