  1. If you have a focus (say an 'IIF') that represents an improvised weapon, and one wants to regularly use two or more at once (two-weapon fighting with a wrench in one hand, a pipe in the other)... should one pay the +5 for 'extra focuses', or is it just part of the improvised nature of things?
  2. Concerning dealing with healing or regeneration that can resurrect.... Is there a maximum 'negative body' score that something can reach before it is considered obliterated and unattackable (at least until it heals/regrows a little)?
  3. Re: Immovable Force Field The power itself is a MP with Barrier and Entangle as it's main components. The main question was how to build the particular type of 'immobility' (or if it needs to be built at all... could just be an SFX of non-anchored?)
  4. Re: Automaton regeneration I recently built an automaton-type character with no STUN or END or REC... you can build a 'usable only by others' 'uncontrolled' 'Self Only' healing power (with appropriate time limitations, focus, and the like) called 'Easily Repaired' to cover healing. Even add on Heals Limbs and/or Resurrection for a truly rebuild-able bot. Be wary of transforms though... if they 'heal normally', with 0 REC they will never heal! Maybe look into the APG under Healing for ways to make that 'repair' power heal the transform and other things away
  5. I am trying to build a character who can create force fields that, once created, are immobile. They are created in 'synch' with the environment (IE: if created on an airplane, they will be 'moving' on the airplane at the same speed/direction it was originally going. While it won't happen often, in theory it could make a moving vehicle hard to turn once it is created inside it or the like... or I guess... be 'ridden' by someone opportunistic I guess. I suspect that the movement is not far off from what other immobile barriers normally do, but if it needed to be statted... any ideas? Linked, heavily limited, uncontrolled TK?
  6. Re: Mind control question One would have to be splitting their stomach open to be Violently Opposed to pie one would think... like the 'Gluttony' guy in the movie Seven. Eating something obviously dangerous (razorblades) or grossly against a moral code (other people) would get there though. I guess if the person's mind control was strong, and they kept eating and eating, they would eventually get to the violently opposed category. The deliciousness of said pie may offer a modifier
  7. Re: Mind control question Given the way the human mind works, however, I think that *some* degree of rationalization is likely with mind control... they may not actually feel hungry, but after mysteriously getting up and going to the fridge for a snack I'll bet they would say they were. Some degree of this rationalization is, to me, a function of the '+20 EGO makes it undetected by target' effect.
  8. Re: Based on Constitution Discrepancy Class of Mind still applies, to the best of my knowledge, to 'based on CON' attacks... kind of makes sense that they do in any case, because my pharmacology won't have much effect on my PC anyways.
  9. This is a very niche case, so there might not be a set answer but... A character has multiform, the main form (a cybernetic cop) and a 'robot form'. The robot form (which has the Reversion Advantage) has the 'Takes No Stun' automaton trait (and is, in fact, built as an automaton) so that when the 'brain' is knocked out, a simplified robot can continue to operate. Now... the second form has no Stun rating so... when does the base form ever regain consciousness? Does it continue to heal Stun (by REC, which is identical between the two forms) in the background?
  10. Re: Based on Constitution Discrepancy I've wondered the same thing. Mental Powers just get a lot of 'freebies' in the system, and making a power not mental anymore drops them. Not fair really, but that is my guess as to what is going on. In most games I've played, EGO and CON are comparable stats, so I'd adjust the chart you wrote to say Works Against CON, not EGO -0.
  11. Re: Reversion-Only Multiform That might be possible, although working around the 'No Stun', and all the modifications that it causes on a character sheet, is what prompted me initially to do it as a multiform.
  12. I am trying to build a cyborg character. The character, when knocked out, still has a simple AI that runs the body. I am writing this up as a Multiform with the Reversion advantage, and the Multiform is a toned down automaton version of the original with 'Takes No Stun'. This robotic form can only be reached by being knocked out... is that 'No Conscious Control'? Or some custom limitation?
  13. Re: Absorption: Two absorbs (PD and ED), both boost same things, but share a pool... It would stop... Mind Links, being located by Mind Scan if you are lost, friendly mentalists undoing other Mental Powers active on you... might stop some beneficial powers that have AVAD/ACV to toolkit them into being mental powers (say... an Aid usable through a Mind Link)... Still, I agree that is floating in the -0 to -1/4 category, the latter if there is a mentalist on the team with any said tricks.
  14. Re: Help creating the D&D cleric's power Turn Undead Turn Undead is statted up to be PRE in at least some of the Fantasy Hero books... although make sure that it is ok with your GM... formally, many lesser undead would probably be automatons (and thus immune to PRE attacks)
  15. Re: Equipment Guide - Delayed Recovery Also in the APG
  16. Re: Chuck Norris Facts as Powers for HERO? Isn't 'Requires an Attack Roll' actually an advantage for Chuck Norris?
  17. Re: Nanotech / magical self-growing structure Gradual Effect has been rolled into Damage Over Time... can be an Advantage or Limitation depending on the variables involved. Basically, instead of 5d6 over 5 rounds, it is 1d6 per round over 5 rounds now. Summon is a good bet, although I think an Uncontrolled effect can pull off plant-levels of intelligence given the right SFX.
  18. Re: Nanotech / magical self-growing structure I agree that Barrier is a good fit but... lets try this. Transform can turn air into stuff, so why not metal into stuff? Bio-Organic Plants, Major Transform (2d6) Metal into Simple Metal Structures Healed By Rust Constant, Uncontrolled, Partial Transformation, Costs Endurance Only to Activate, Improved Results Group Obvious Accessible Focus (requires Arrangement), No Range, Limited Target, Extra Time (5 minutes) That would transform 2d6 body worth of metal into whatever every 5 minutes until the process was done... at about 14 real points Or, a similar construct, drop the Constant, Uncontrolled, and Costs Endurance only to activate... and add however much Damage Over Time you feel appropriate. 32 times at 5 minutes a 2d6 body growth spurts ends up with 22 real points. OR... one could summon a 'plant core' that can make barriers... a 'Slavishly Loyal' 100 point plant, again with an OAF that requires 'arrangement' clocks in at about 18 points and could theoretically grow any amount of metal barrier... just limit the plant's barrier power with appropriate 'extra time' limitations.
  19. Re: Gravity powers Lots of options... Flight, Dispel/Drain Flight, Dispel Other's Gravity Effects, Control Environment of a variety of types, Telekinesis of a variety of types, some forms of Density Increase, an Entangle (or Clinging: Usable as Attack), Added goodies for that type of character: Spatial Awareness (sense the gravity fields), Life Support (High Pressure, maybe more), and maybe Environmental Movement for High Gravity?
  20. For a Superheroic character (or other character built in a way that has to buy his equipment as powers instead of with cash), if you want to use two-weapon fighting do you buy the same power twice (once for each sword/gun/whatever?) or can you just pay the '+5 for a second focus', or is it something else all together?
  21. Re: Transmit Smell Transmit smell would, I imagine, allow you to make a variety of odors... combine with Discriminatory for a pheromone communication system like insects use? Though, given the basis for his powers, drinking all that perfume would taste nasty!
  22. If one is unconscious but receives a Healing effect (or in some other way gets positive STUN), and still has phases left on which to act in this turn, can they act on those phases? How about the above but instead they are dead and resurrected with a healing effect mid round... still get their actions for the rest of the round?
  23. Re: House Rules The example of when it came up in our game is a Trickster type figure turned a teammate into a Monkey (a talking, sentient, kept all powers monkey) as punishment for being rude, and the return condition was 'A sincere apology'. The character in question was an Alchemy-based Superhero. Since one of his abilities was using potions to transform anything into anything (with enough time and materials), he opted to instead just cook up a formula to turn himself back into a human. I guess he didn't really 'undo' the transform, rather he was a human turned into a monkey turned into a human... or maybe he 'transformed the transform' (transform is a weird meta-power that way sometimes). In any case, it was houseruled that one could use Transform on yourself for such purposes based on that situation.
  24. Re: House Rules Page 194 of book 1 says you can't dispel transform, so it would be a house rule either way. Our group uses transform, dispel is also a viable house rule option.
