  1. Really? I found Deathstalker much more depressing. I still haven't forced my way through book 5 since I know what happens at the end and if I don;t finish it, it never happened. I must admit though that Green is about one of two authors who can provoke a reaction like that from me. The puppy dog "If I can't see it, it can't see me" logic.
  2. So I was looking through the suggested reading list in the back of FH and realized there was one author I wasn't sure if Steve knew about yet. Simon R. Green's "Hawk and Fisher" series. Swords of Haven Guards of Haven Blue Moon Rising Beyond the Blue Moon That's the order of publication, but not the true chronological order of the stories. Not that it made much difference for me, I just ate them up. They are quick reads and a lot of fun and they also address something I skimmed across today. How to handle a mystery in a fantasy setting.
  3. Nah, I can divulge. I'm going to finish off the Champions, so next up are Defender, Sapphire and Witchcraft. After that I may tackle Eurostar, but my gaming group would REALLY like me to finish their mods first.
  4. And I was so excited about the new pics... Steve: Thanks a lot for the praise and the permission. Assuming my eyesight holds out, I should have the other three Champs in short(ish) order. Everyone: Thanks for the kind words, I live on affirmation. I am pretty proud of how they turned out overall. Mayday: Awesome advice! New pics and Photoshop filter levels finally did the trick, so a huge thanks on that! Redmenace: How long to make the bumps? Days. KIDDING! I had to do them twice as the first version looked awful. The second was about 90 minutes or so of work. Take an almost insivibly small blob of putty. Push on to fig, shape with a toothpick untl it looks like a long ridge, repeat until you have them all. It's not that bad since it's repetitive work.
  5. I got new pics! Check 'em out at the same addy. I got a nice close-up on Ironclad.
  6. Yes on one, no on two. The Nighthawk was a Daredevil, a Moleman and massive massive putty.
  7. Thanks Blue, I'm really disappointed in the pictures though. I'm going to let the missus take a shot at them since she actually knows something about photography and I'm a moron. Hey Steve? Is it okay to post the side art for comparison purposes? I kinda forgot to ask before I did it and it's easy as pie to take the pics out.
  8. Now if I could just learn how to take a silly picture, we'd be set. I'm really annoyed at my lack of photography skills as all the nice subtle muscle definition rendered in dark grey on Nighthawk is just invisible. C'est la vei, next time I guess I should let the missus take the pictures. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/proditor/Champions.htm
  9. Thanks for the feedback guys, looks like I know what to save up for now.
  10. Except....in this season we have Robin "hear" about the idea of Nightwing when Starfire comes back from the future. So we're supposed to assume it's Tim and he's somehow too stupid to realise that Grayson has been wearing the costume for a few years??? Also, that episode of Static Shock was on the air before Teen Titans had even debuted. I think they probably initially meant for it to be Tim and then switched horses mid-stream. So far the "dropped hints" in TT have been that this is Grayson, not Drake.
  11. Hello all, I just finally managed to pick up Fantasy Hero and the Grimoire but I have an additional question. I picked up the Bestiary ages ago, but don't have the ready cash to get Monsters, Minions, And Marauders just yet. What are the main differences between the two? Will I be "okay" to just swing it with FH, the grimoire and the Bestiary? What are the advantages to the triple M? Any insight appreciated.
  12. Not yet. I still have to finish dials for the Destroyers. They are all printed out but I got lazy and didn't finish sticking them on. I was hoping to try out the Elementals soonish to see how they work. If anyone wants the dial stats I came up with, they are on HCRealms or in a convienent e-mailable Text file. I also have stats for Saker, Captain Cadaver and Sanction. On to the Justice Machine who started this though...I remember the Palladium stats for Talisman and thinking "So basically I just let the guy playing him ask me to do something and decide if it works?" I also remember that artist's site posted above. He did something similar with the Elementals. For most of them you could probably get away with making them 350-400 point characters (IIRC?) The only real hard ones are Talisman and possibly Blazer. Diviner could cause a few conniptions, but not enough to warrant freaking out over. Challenger, Demon and Titan are pretty straight forward.
  13. Absolutely. A quick word on them though, I painted them to "Play level" not heavy detail, so be forewarned. I did a much more thorough job on the upcoming Champions minis. Nighthawk actually looks pretty cool. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/proditor/elementbase.htm
  14. The tale is that he sold the rights to the Elementals for a ridculously low sum and then gave Comico a 2" think binder filled with notes on how to complete the story. After it languished for a year or so, he dropped by to see how Comico was doing. The binder was being used to prop up an uneven desk....Bill said that it's probably the best possible use for that Binder however. I just finished my reread of the full run, man that's good stuff. I somehow feel vindicated in wasting 3 weeks of my life to make clix out of the Elementals, the Destroyers and the Rapture.
  15. Right along with their contemproaries and my personal faves, The Elementals.
  16. I had a PC in an old game who went the Mospeada route. It worked pretty well since it was more of a "sideline" power for him, his main thing was Cyberkinesis. Basically we just kept it at /slightly/ below the power level of some of the main bruisers and it worked out well. He had a nifty robo-bike transfroming thingie, and it didn't overhsadow anyone else.
  17. Well sure, that's what they say now. I'd love to see what they called it back in the day though.
  18. Heck, how did ole Rex Tyler get his powers? Gool old American pharmacueticals!! Nothing like a pill popping hop head who eventually gets addicted to scream out hero. Mind you, I think Hourman is AWESOME. Just saying is all. Of course it's not as bad as the "Say no to drugs" comic featuring Captain America where he keeps talking about all of his powers. The ones he gained from drugs!
  19. Well sure, but Peter Parker wasn't benchpressing caddies before he got bit by that Spider. It sounds to me more like a neat effect than an actual limitation a la Spidey's webshooters for instance.
  20. I seem to remember Rainbow Archer having it as a MP for the arrows with the limit "No Range, -1/2" in addition to the focus and then the bow as a Focus that bought off the "No Range". If you wanted to still shoot normal arrows, the simplest thing I can think of (Subject to GM approval as this is a little weird) is to buy the Bow as a MP as well, two slots Ultra. 1st Slot is buying off No Range from the arrows MP, the other as an Xd6 killing attack (X=number of dice you decide on for normal arrows) with a non-specific charge limitation of some sort. Maybe -1/4 to simulate that anyone with 50 bucks can buy a whole bunch of arrows? Edit: Maybe -1/2 since a lot of throwing masters have the OIF: Items of opportunnity thing going for them, and while you can buy a whole passel of arrows, it's not like you can pick up a playing card and shoot it from your bow.

    Miniatures...

It's almost a law, you never know what you'll find useful. I had two leftover sprues from a Robotech model. They were going on 25 years old. I decided to make a Sergeant Kemlo from Top 10. Bada-boom, on those sprues were two Doberman heads. End result? 2 Sergeant Kemlos.
  22. Side note about a movie for "The Alienist". Carr sold the production rights, but when they came to him to discuss the "minor changes" they wanted, it amounted to a completely different story, different characters, different timeframe and I think, a talking homosexual dog (My nod to Kevin Smith there) Seriously though, the 1st three things so set off Carr that he refused to give the go ahead (Which he had wisely retained) and the movie is in limbo until their option expires sometime around 2010 IIRC. On to the campaign idea. I LOVE IT!!! If I could just get my group interested, I'd give it a shot myself.
  23. One thing I liked in the old 4e Classic Orgs was that the Inner Circle included some serious movers and shakers from Myth, or facsimiles thereof. I /liked/ being able to have Baba Yaga as an Inner circle member (Even if I thought she was underpowered). I got a kick out of the undead Elric guy. I'd like to see some nods to the mystics that survive the transition to the CU without going as nutty as say White Wolf where anyone of historical note was either a lupine or a vamp. Spell lists and sample spells seem to be an absolute necessity. Same with an agent list of common magic talismans a la the UNTIL and VIPER weapon/item lists. And yes, a goals and plot hooks section seems vital. How often do these guys clash with the snakes because they both need something similar? Are these guys only fighting primarily in the shadows in a magic war that the common man and by extension, 4 color hero, doesn't see, or are they also engaged in huge plots to take over Guatemala?
  24. Well, yes and no. The weight of 19,400 tons is how much water the sub actually displaces when submerged. I'm just not sure if a heroic push to 80 would cover it, but than again I've forgotten pretty much everything I ever knew about displacement vs. "actual" weight.
  25. I'm not sure about his armored STR actually. This colossus is very very strong. In addition to manhandling Thor and Iron man in Ultimate War, he did haul that sub out of the ocean and on to dry land. The displacement on that puppy (Oscar II)is 19,400 tons submerged. Now I'm violating rule #1 and throwing Real Life stuff in here, but if you figure even a +10 STR to 80, it just feels a little more "right" I guess, since a heroic push to 90 would have him just about spot on to haul the sub and almost knock Thor into orbit while still holding back Iron-Man.
