Re: More space news! Stars sometimes do bad things for life, so living near them increases the risk. Increased size also makes it more likely for bad things to happen, and happen sooner. Living near one is pretty much mandatory. But living near many large, older stars is just asking for it. And as oen approaches the galactic center, age and size increase. I've also heard that the metallicity of the star & it's planets impacts the chance of life.

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I need some help remembering a TV commercial from 1, maybe 2 (or more) years ago. There was a series of these commercials where a parent was talking to the character(s) of a show they used to watch, but were stopping due to having kids around now. The one in question I am looking for was this lady talking to about 5-6 guys who were the characters in some prison show. She said something to them about not letting the child see them shiving (iirc) each other, and one of the characters corrected her on her prison slang usage. At the end after she has explained why she won't be watching any more she asks soemthing like "Now, who wants lemonaid?" and one of the prisoners raises his hand and one behind him smacks him on the head. Please help, only half-remembering this is driving me batty.

Re: More space news! Strange that they only mentioned sunlight and snow earlier: I wonder if the bit about rain was just thrown in as "well, if it can do snow, and both snow and rain are water, it can do rain also!" marketing bravado. Also, they misspelled "Ground".
