  1. Tale of the tape with these two is fairly straight forward. Babs has the ranged FYB powers to shut Harley down. Once she is incapacitated by a Flash or an Entangle then it will be easy for Barbara to beat Harley into submission. But that's in a stand-up fight. Harley is a natural ambush predator. If Harley uses her Stealth and lures Batgirl into looking for her, then there's a chance that Harley can get an attack from surprise for X2 STUN, CON Stunning her, and follow that up with a savage beat down (Possibly breaking her spine? Too soon?).

  4. Working on Batgirl and Harley Quinn. Post later.
  5. How do you reload a pistol you're holding in one hand when you're holding ANOTHER pistol in the other hand? That's why Chow Yun Fat carried six pistols, two in shoulder holsters, two in hip holsters, and two in crossdraw holsters.
  6. So it looks like Campaign Norms would be 300 character points with 60 points of Complications, Norman Human Characteristics Maximums (including SPD & CV), 15 PD & ED, and 45 active Points/8DCs cap on powers. Sounds really "street" level. Basing this on Arkham Asylum or Watchmen? Are the PCs the heroes or the villains, 'cause I'd REALLY love to play Harley Quinn. Now I just have to post a write up of Harley Quinn that matches these norms. Good thing the weekend is coming up.
  7. An average roll of 10d6 is 35 stun and 10 body. That's blowing PD/ED of 12/6r out of the water. Even at 15 PD that's almost a guaranteed CON Stun. If the PD/ED is going to be at 15/8r then the DCs should be around 6. That will allow for a 2d6 RKA (The Shadow carried two 1911s). That will be enough to put a hurting on a PC but not drop one into a coma in one shot.
  8. When I GM I run in Boston, and the local Team Supreme is the BHL - The Boston Hero's League! Line up as follows: Quasar - Flying Energy Projector, team leader and Silver Age throwback. He maintains good relations for the team with the Mayor, the Chief of Police, and Primus The Whammer - Pure Brick, not too bright, heart of gold, and exactly ZERO inches of "back down" in him. "Don't start me up, boy, 'cause I only do ONE THING." Mind Maiden - Powerful mentalist, and highly unstable emotionally. She is the only member of the team with known villain kills. That was "kills," plural. There are, in fate, several arrest warrants out for Mind Maiden and it is taking all of Quasar's political connections to keep her to of jail. This is not in keeping with Quasar's normal "squeaky clean" public image. Shadowhunter - Stealthy martial artist with tricky gadgets. "Some criminals think they are above the law, but no one is above the famous fists of the Shadowhunter." His tactics keep him and Quasar at loggerheads. The Archer - Trick arrows, coolness, and attitude. The ladies love him, and he loves as many of the ladies as he can. Total PR nightmare. Mystica - A reserve team member, she is valued primarily for her various utility powers. UNLESS a mystical threat is present, at which point she will abandon all team work, strategy and tactics to focus single mindedly on the mystical threat because "I'm the only one who can!" Shadowhunter is an on again, off again team member. Mind Maiden usually does not reply to trouble calls, perfecting to remain at team headquarters where she is the only full time member in residence.
  9. "Darkon does not ring any bells." "Light is simply the absence of all darnkess." Still remember that quote from 1985. Loved it then, still love it now.
  10. "the guy proved mentally unstable and killed him to save him." Ah, the pronoun game. I used to specifically instruct my employees to NEVER use pronouns in the reports they wrote. One guy never could wrap his brain around that request. His reports made perfect sense, in HIS brain. If you would, please, who killed who to save whom?
  11. Darkon Pulsar Bluejay (I think she's dropped) Ogre The Fox Anyone in Turtle Armor.
  12. So I'm fleshing out the background for one of my new PCs, and part of that background is that she was personally trained in acrobatic martial arts by Crusader, and in tactics, ranged weapons & demolitions by Marksman. Now I don't still have any of my old books from 3rd ed and before, so I'm going to need some help on some details. What were these character's secret IDs? What is the "in game" story about what happened to them? I seem to recall that Crusader moved to Hudson City and became Dark Crusader. I have no idea what is suppose to have happened to Marksman.
  13. So we were talking yesterday, and we decided that without a doubt the world's greatest super villain is.... Florida Man !!! I mean seriously, look at the recent headlines from 2015 alone: January 2: Florida Man Covers Himself in Ashes, Says He's a 400-Year-Old Indian, Crashes Stolen Car January 5: Florida Man Puts Dragon Lizard in His Mouth, Smacks People with It January 27: Florida Man Steals $4,000 Worth of Chicken and Ribs February 3: Florida Man Who Had Sex with Dolphin Says It Seduced Him February 3: Florida Man Killed 5 Gators, Ate Them for Super Bowl Dinner February 15: Florida Man Believes Wrestling Event Is Haunted by the Ghost of Macho Man Randy Savage March 3: Florida Man Goes on LSD-Fueled Naked Rampage, Bites Girlfriend's Finger March 11: Drunk, Machete-Wielding Florida Man Chases Neighbor on Lawnmower March 11: Florida Man's Church Loses Tax-Exempt Status Because It's Just a Nightclub The list goes on and on. Foxbat's got NOTHING on Florida Man! And no super hero can stop him. There's only one possible response: So that got me thinking, who can do the best write up of Florida Man?
  14. For a while I actually considered Soiled Dove.

She is a young girl trained, well, PUSHED really, from a very early age to wear the mantel of her mother, a retired super heroine. She has exceptional stats, but nothing REALLY superhuman, standard Super Hero Martial Arts, and a multipower with various ranged attack powers, all Range Based On STR, high levels of Running, Leaping and Swimming, and Swinging OAF Grapnel. Her loving mother made sure she has all the skills a teenage girl would need while fighting crime at 3:00 AM - Acrobatics, Breakfall, Stealth, Lockpicking, Security Systems, Demolitions, the list goes on for 60+ points. While she wears her mother's costume, she is a redhead while her mother was a blond. So she gets a lot of "You're not the REAL Nightwalker." Also, much like Silk Specter I, her mother's only real super power was being an Attention Whore. She had a reputation for sleeping with most of the previous generation's male super heroes. She was blamed for breaking up more than one super marriage, and if the rumors are true then she slept with more than a few male super villians as well, with perhaps a girl super here and there too. This gets her some "Nightwalker? Nightwalker was a whore" remarks. Also, anyone with a background in either Law or English, PC or Player, might recognize that Nightwalker is an old style euphemism for prostitute. While she takes these remarks in stride, it does not take away from the fact that she does not know who her real father actually is. While her mother regularly goes on a great length and embarrassing detail regarding the romantic escapades of her youth, she steadfastly refuses to discuss the PC's father. That leads her to believe that her father probably was, in fact, a supervillian, and likely one of the worst of the lot. She reluctantly embraces her role as costumed crime fighter, and has decided to focus her efforts on two fronts - Terrorist organisations and arms traffickers. As a result this has brought her into conflict several times with VIPER and ARGENT.
  16. There was an official Champions Universe female super hero who went by Batfox. She was armed with ping pong paddles specifically to defeat Foxbat's ping pong ball gun.
  17. Yeah, for a Supers game I just let the players build their powers the way they want, and they get to declare the special effect. Now for Fantasy Hero, my rule of thumb is "Casters buy a multipower, I approve the slot builds, and you never get to transform it into a VPP." It keeps the casters both powerful and versatile, but not TOO powerful or versatile. And the points they spend on the multipower & slots works out to about the same that the sword monkeys spend on Combat Luck, Deadly Blow, and CSLs.
  18. OK, so I'll be dropping the Sap Gloves and adding Restrainable to the multipower. I'll use the points to pick up a martial arts package. I've decided that I'll also drop Rapid Attack and up my OCV & DCV by 1 each. I've decided to drop the name Warbird and use a different name for the original character - Nightwalker. Part of this is because Nightwalker sounds like a cool name for a street-level superhero who uses stealth. I also like the name because nightwalker is an old-style euphemism for a prostitute, and that fits my vision for the character's mother. By adopting the name the PC is both taking on to herself the role of superhero and the taint of her mother's reputation. I eventually see the character outgrowing both, reinventing and renaming herself Shadowhunter, that being the name of my recurring street-level vigilante PC,
  19. Wow, you're going REAL Old School Champions. I didn't think Crusader, Ogre and Cheshire Cat were even in the Champions universe anymore.
  20. Actually Confessions of a D List Supervillian was WAY BETTER than Soon I Will BE Invincible.
  21. Reminds me of the character from Mystery Men - He was invisible, but only when no one was looking at him.
  22. Now sure if were way off topic yet, but I've been playing Champs since '85 and I have lost track of the number of times one Mentalist NPC (or jerk player running a Mentalist PC) has run the table on all the PCs, bringing them all to 0 STUN with a few Ego Blasts. Heck, in my current campaign one player has nothing but a 6D6 Entangle, Rapid Attack, and a stack of 2-point OCV skill levels. Every Action Phase he spams out Entangles 3 & 4 at a time. Thank God he has a low SPD & DEX because, every fight, after his Action Phase there's nothing left to do. See, there's a skill to building a good TEAM, just like there's a skill to building a good character. Every player has to ask himself "Do I want to play a character who can do something no other character on the team can do, or do I want to play the character that makes every other character on the team UNNECESSARY?" Good players stick to well established comic book archetypes & tropes. Some players can play a Weird and make it fun for everyone. Other players can't be trusted to play a Weird. But that's a 20-point Character Limitation on the player, not the PC. One of the good things that has come out of the points creep over the various edition, while keeping the DCs for PCs caped at 12, is there are a lot of points available to PCs for skills & utility powers. Back in the day, trying to build a PC on 250 points, you had room for an attack power, a defense power, a movement power, and that's about it. In 6th it seems that nearly every PC I make has room for 45 points of skills, some enhanced senses (Night Vision, UV, IR), a few Perks or Talents, a little Life Support, a little bit of exotic defense (Flash, Power, Mental, Hardened, Imprenitatible). So now days an NPC with a Drain or a Flash or an Ego Blast or an NND isn't the show stopper that it was. And when the team bursts into Dr. Impossible's lair and see the timer on the OMEGA BOMB ticking down toward zero, odds are fairly good that SOMEONE on the team has the Demolitions skill.
  23. I just finished Soon I Will BE Invincible. Check it out, it's worth your time. Another good one is Confessions of a D List Supervillian. But avoid the two sequels.
  24. The Flash attack is SUPPOSE to have the 16 Charges limitation. I think that, even if she IS throwing them 2 at a time, having 144 charges of things to throw is enough. If she runs low in a long fight, well, that's the concept. I'm TOTALLY adding Restrainable to the pool cost of the multipower. Good call. Depending on how many points that leaves me with, I may drop the Sap Gloves and pick up a MA package. On reflection the character isn't about combat effectiveness. That's what the 12DC Bricks & Power Projectors are for. This character is about stealth, and skills, and capturing mission objectives, and occupying the big nasties, keeping them tied up & out of the fight, until the 12DC characters can take them out. Thanks for the feedback.
