  2. So my Martial Arts package is 23 points. +4d6 HA, 0 END OIF is 13 points. That means I can have Martial Arts OR I can have +4d6 HA and +1 OCV / +1 DCV. I'm thinking that the +1 OCV/DCV is more useful.
  3. IMCU VIPER leadership is a group of international bankers and industrialists. These bankers and industrialists make their money by financing legitimate world governments and selling high tech anti-metahuman weapons to governments and groups like PRIMUS and UNTIL. These people wear suits, not costumes. Think "Military Industrial Complex." Second tier VIPER is an international terrorist organisation. They keep the demand for high tech anti-metahuman weapons high by conducting terrorist attacks against industrial companies that AREN'T part of the top tier VIPER network. Cutting down on the competition. Manpower isn't a problem for VIPER because Telios pumps out Jango Fett clones in job lots, along with the occasional Generic Brick clone, Generic Martial Artist clone, Generic Power Projector clone, etc. Top Tier VIPER sub-contracts most of its R&D to ARGENT, through cut-out and shell companies, naturally. ARGENT is nothing more than a loose affiliation of researchers and inventors who ignore FDA & EPA guidelines. Not "evil" so much as "irresponsible." But since they operate outside the system, they have no recourse when one of the top tier companies patents one of their inventions.

    Turtle Armor

No way. I remember Turtle Armor from '85. Champions II maybe? Champions III at the latest.
  5. So +2 OCV, Melee and Ranged, only to offset Multiple Attack penalty. What would that run? If I multi attack, does it have to be two punches OR two ranges attacks? Can it be one of each? Can I attack two separate targets?
  6. I'm thinking of dropping the Martial Arts package and just getting +4d6 HA, 0 END OIF. I think I'll save a point or three, will get all 4 DCs with every melee attack, and won't have to worry about fluctuating CVs. Totally getting Rapid Attack, Tactics skill, and maybe up my OCV/DCV to 9.
  7. I used Side Kick to reflect that the character has a lower power level relative to the other PCs, kind of like Davedevil relative to the Avengers. It looks like Multiple Attack is a full Phase action. I don't see that being that helpful for this character, particularly since I was counting on the +1 OCV from Surprise Move after a successful Acrobatics roll.
  8. The PC has a 45-pip multipower with EB, RKA, APEB, Flash, Entangle, NND, AOE EB, AOE Flash, AOE Entangle, AOE NND, and Darkness 4m Radius, all Range Based on STR, 16 Charges (They're what I call "The FYB Powers" ). And I'm well aware how effective a Trip or Martial Throw can be to occupy a Brick that you can't hope to actually hurt otherwise. (Trip maneuver so he lands 2m away. He has to spend 1/2 Phase getting to his feet, and another 1/2 Phase walking to you, ending his Phase. If he tries a Move Through, then you Martial Throw him into the ground (at least 2m away).)
  9. The character is a cross between Batgirl and Silk Specter II. She is a young girl trained, well, PUSHED really, from a very early age to wear the mantel of her mother, a retired super heroine. She has exceptional stats, but nothing REALLY superhuman, standard Super Hero Martial Arts, and a multipower with various ranged attack powers, all Range Based On STR, high levels of Running, Leaping and Swimming, and Swinging OAF Grapnel. Her loving mother made sure she has all the skills a teenage girl would need while fighting crime at 3:00 AM - Acrobatics, Breakfall, Stealth, Lockpicking, Security Systems, Demolitions, the list goes on for 60+ points. While she wears her mother's costume, she is a redhead while her mother was a blond. So she gets a lot of "You're not the REAL X." (I'm still working on the name. Working title is Warbird, but that just doesn't grab me.) Also, much like Silk Specter I, her mother's only real super power was being an Attention Whore. She had a reputation for sleeping with most of the previous generation's male super heroes. She was blamed for breaking up more than one super marriage, and if the rumors are true then she slept with more than a few male super villians as well, with perhaps a girl super here and there too. This gets her some "Warbird? Warbird was a whore" remarks. While she takes these remarks in stride, it does not take away from the fact that she does not know who her real father actually is. While her mother regularly goes on a great length and embarrassing detail regarding the romantic escapades of her youth, she steadfastly refuses to discuss the PC's father. That leads her to believe that her father probably was, in fact, a supervillian, and likely one of the worst of the lot. She reluctantly embraces her role as costumed crime fighter, and has decided to focus her efforts on two fronts - Terrorist organisations and arms traffickers. As a result this has brought her into conflict several times with VIPER and ARGENT.
  10. Literally EVERY character I make has that as OAF Rebreather. It's just too useful not to take.
  11. Yeah, I maxed out on the FYB powers (EB, AP, RKA, NND, Flash, Entangle, plus AOE versions of all of the above). So the character can totally slow down a more powerful opponent until the heavy hitters are able to engage. I was thinking over Multiple Attack. An 8d6 Martial Strike against 30PD will net zero STUN. So TWO 8d6 Martial Strikes against 30PD will net... zero STUN. But if my Multipower is set to 6d6 APEB (16 Charges), can I use Multiple Attack to burn TWO CHARGES in a single Action Phase? An average 6d6 APEB vs 30 PD will net (21 vs 30/2=) 6 STUN. Two charges will only net 12 STUN. It's not over powered. Just not sure RAW allow it.
  12. So I'm currently in a 12DC, 30PD/30ED campaign. I've built a "side kick" with 8DCs and 20PD/20ED. My character's SPD is equivalent, CVs are my 8 vs their 10. I used the extra points to max out on skills. Now in a straight-up fight there's just no way this character can hang with a character that's built to campaign norms. So I'm wondering, what is something I can use to get an edge? My first thought is to use Acrobatics every Phase and get the +1 OCV from Surprise Move. Another is to spend a few points on skill levels to offset Multiple Attack penalties, so I can swing two Martial Strikes on a target per Action Phase. What are some other ideas so this character can "play with the big boys?"
  13. I had a character like that in a Teen Heroes game - A high school girl with empathy & telepathy. She knew full well that most people were shallow, thinking about themselves most of the time. The few times the other students were thinking about her, the girls were running her down with petty jealousies, and the boys only thought her boobs & her butt. I decided that she'd have an after school job working as a small engine mechanic, because lawn mowers weren't petty.
  14. A more important question is "Why are all the swordsmen stepping on each other's stchick?" I know that if I were a new player in the campaign and the game already had several swordsmen, then I'd get myself Deadly Blow with longbow and a few Penalty Skill Levels to offset Range and Hit Location with Longbow. Or up my DEX & INT and max out my skills, with maybe two levels of Deadly Blow with daggers, bought as Only From Behind. Or play a Cleric, because the role play opportunities in playing lecherous monk can be hilariously awesome.
  15. Hmmm. I'll have to dust off FRED. Thanks Cassie. May I call you Cassie? Say yes, 'cause I'm going to call you Cassie...
  16. Yeah, you've got to have the Universal Pictures monsters - Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman, the Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Phantom of the Opera. Then there's the Slasher Flick monsters, Freddy, Jason, Michael, and Leatherface. And Zombies, lots & lots of Romero zombies.
  17. I thought you couldn't have a naked advantage as a slot in a framework. Or is that my 5th ed. talking?
  18. What's your preference for a Hercules-style brick? I'm thinking the multipower will be more versatile, particularly with things like AOEs and such, but straight SRT will be cheaper and the character will still be able to do things like grab and Multi-attack and such. What's your preference?
  19. Are we talking a harlequin, or Harley Quinn? For the first, a multipower maxed out with entangles, flash attacks, energy blasts, RKAs, NNDs, along with AOE versions of each of those. For the second the same, plus a giant hammer (Hand Attack x2 Knockback 0 END OAF Giant Hammer), Stunning Appearance, and RIDICULOUS levels of Combat Luck.
  20. Tasha, normally I defer to your interpretation of the rules by default, but I've gotta ask for clarification here. RAW says that breakable foci take damage once enough BODY gets past the focus' resistance. But how does that work when it is the character that gets attacked, and the focus provides PD? I get that if someone specifically targets the focus and does more BODY than the focus has resistance (either through active points or PD provided) then the focus takes damage and stops working. But since it was the focus that was the target, then no damage spills over to the character, right? But if the character has a focus that provides 12rPD, and someone hit the character with an attack that does 13 body, in addition to the character suffering one BODY damage does the focus also take damage (and stop working) or does the focus get to apply its 12 resistance to the spillover before breaking? Some would say "The focus already applied its resistance when it protected the character." To that I say that it's a bit much for both the character AND the focus to take damage. IMO if it was the character that was attacked then the character should take the damage, and his various foci should get to resist the spillover with their own resistance, and the ones with the least resistance breaking first. But does that jibe with RAW?
  21. On p. 105 CC says "If a Breakable Focus is hit by an attack that causes BODY damage past the Focus’s defenses, one power bought through the Focus is destroyed." It says "If a Breakable Focus is hit." Does that mean that the attack has to be directed AT the focus specifically with the intent of damaging it, rather than at the character?
  22. Say you have a PC - Good Stats, lots of skills, martial arts, a Gadget Pool and a Base. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays he puts on his red, white and blue costume and fights villainy in his Secret ID. All standard super hero stuff. Now lets say that back in his base he ALSO has a red, BLACK and blue costume, and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays he goes out as a super villain - Different name, different contacts. Would this be a second Secret ID? A Deep Cover? How would you build this?
