  1. Coelacanth Cecil Lowell Kampf used to be a badass at least that's what he would tell you at great length once he had a few beers in him. He claims to have been a navy seal, a underwater demolition expert in Vietnam, an oil rig roughneck and deep-sea construction specialists. surprisingly it's actually true. he just doesn't look it any more a fail and skinny old man with a raspy voice with a persistent wet cough. He was much bigger and healthier looking even at his age but that was before he got lung cancer could have been from the toxic crap he got exposed to on the oil rigs or agent orange or maybe just his cigar habit. He lost his job and went through many painful treatments but it still wasn't looking at lasting another 6 six months of coughing up blood stuck in a hospice. That's when he heard from an old SEAL team buddy. The Organization he worked for could fix him if he had the money. Cecil sold everything he owned and he just couldn't make the money. So being the resourceful man he was Cecil robbed a bank. But a half dead geriatric wasn't going to intimidate any one so that option was out the window instead Cecil broke into his old work place and stole their extreme depth diving suit. A huge armored monstrosity standing over 9 feet tall and featuring an array of scary tools and pincers. The unit was slow moving but relentless Cecil picked a branch on the beach front and literally walked out of the ocean tore his way into the branch filled a duffel with loot and walked out with a full swat team firing on him. Not that it did them any good but Armour designed for the pressure of the deep ocean just shrugged it off. Cecil walked back into the ocean and disappeared. That was the start of the Coelacanth’s Crime spree gaining his Nom'd Crime after a marine life savvy reporter compared the with its thick armour plates to the armored appearance of bony fish a living Fossil from the cretaceous era Cecil raised enough from his crimes to fund the experimental treatment his old buddies organization turned out to be VIPER and restored to good health and reinvigorated by the thrills of his crimes Cecil worked as a freelancer for them in exchange for upgrades in the suit. He was invited to join the team after several successful years as a solo and Mercenary villain. As it's good to have support and he likes Aquatic crimes. The suit is filled with a liquid breathing medium which not only helps Cecil’s damaged lungs but makes it very hard to stun him due to its shock absorbing properties.
  2. Does it have to be dinosaurs or are any prehistoric ocean dwellers allowed?

  4. Lady Lust. Latisha Lane was a quite bookish librarian no one would have suspected her of being the author of some of the most sordid erotica on the Internet. The orb transformed her body and mind she is now a buxom sex pot her powers are a potent pheromone that can cause Lust in men and women and razor sharp nails that secrete a toxin that causes uncontrollable ecstacy. The toxin is addictive it requires great fortitude and will power to resist the lure of another tryst with Lady Lust.
  5. One other idea krampus draws his power from the children trapped in the sacks pocket dimension he's nigh invulnerable unless part of the team can liberate the kids while the rest distract Krampus.
  6. KRAMPUS is perhaps go with brawler style think spiderman a bit of super strength teleportation shadow walking perhaps but equally night crawler style disappearing in a cloud of soot. perhaps you could give him an ego blast like ghost riders penance stare that shows all your misdeeds. His birch ruten could be a pain based nnd a psychic scourge. A self binding chain might be a good option as well. People he disables with it could be dropped into his sack a pocket dimension like a mini hell that the heroes will have to rescue. The super honorable boyscout type hero might have an advantage maybe give him a limitation that he takes more damage from good boys or girls.
  7. Yeah but only once that's the same shtick as batman really batman has the same "power" as Darwin from the X-men you better defeat him the first time or he will come back adapted for you. That's why the joker is his most enduring foe he's too chaotic for Batmans "power" to work you never fight the same joker twice. Batman probably fits too in no particular order. parents murdered. childhood best friend turns evil. New sidekick murdered by phone Then comes back as a murderous vigilante with a grudge. numerous dead/evil/insane former lovers. semi-raped(consent was pretty dubious) by the daughter of an immortal master of a shadowy league of assassins. find out a decade later you have a kid and he is an asshole. Who your ex dumps on you and is the promptly marked for death murdered and brought back to life. Temporary side kick starts a gang war using one of your contingency plans because you didn't tell her about your 3rd alterego. ancestral home is destroyed multiple times. More contingency plans used to harm all your super friends. your City destroyed by earthquake and abandoned by federal government, also plague. "killed" by an evil new God fight your way back through time. Meanwhile everyone you've trained fights over who gets to replace you. Multiple attempts to steal your family business. artificially create a split personality and fight crime as hobo. evil organization(which has secretly been screwing up your city for centuries) using your money. kidnaps you spends weeks psychologically torturing you before deploying army of undead assassins to murder everyone you care about. Back broken gets broken replaced by psycho French man ape hybrid from crazy religious order. Longest lasting relationship is with a wanted felon. Everyone thinks your gay first hanging out with teenage boys in short shirts and pixie boots. Had to fight the ten eyed man
  8. The inverse of course is squirrel girl for who anything that can go right does. Daredevil and wolverine probably fit there lives are non stop angst and drama. Every woman they love dies or turns evil powers try to kill them not to mention all the damn Ninjas. Tried to think of a good DC version probably spoiler and speedy the universe(or the editors) does seem to have it in for them.
  9. Boulder Yeah it's cliche big guy made of stone the team brick damage sponge and heavy hitter but Dr Richard "rocky" stone PhD is more than just dumb muscle. A world class mineral and geologist he's earned a small fortune from his days as a freelance oil and gas prospector. Rocky got his powers when he discovered a peculiar stone ring whilst mapping a newly discovered cavern system in Guatemala . The ring is strange constantly shifting to match the nearest large stone deposit. Rocky as Boulder has the ability to mimic any type of stone he touches. He usually carries a small piece of granite or schist for toughness but often mimics local stone for camouflage. In rock form the Boulder is a vaguely humanoid lump of rock standing over 8 feet tall and 6 wide he has trouble using doors and most floors will not support him. strangely the magic Does not affect his senses which is both good because a giant earless pile of stone shouldn't be able to hear but is awkward because Dr Stone is quite short sighted and has to wear special prescription goggles(lack of ears again) in his heroic form. His transformation has the unfortunate effect of destroying whatever he is wearing at the time so he tends to carry a satchel which converts into s and a utility belt containing a very compact change of clothes and few items of equipment he can use in Boulder form mostly it just makes him feel less naked. In his human form he is a well built and athletic figure with weather worn skin a heavy tan from his years of field work. His glasses and leather fedora have seen him compared to a certain fictional archeologist. Dr Stone is a regular guest lecturer at the Colorado school of mines one of the country's best engineering schools and often leads field expeditions of students from the school. When not busy superheroing.
  10. Have to ask was the typo in the title intentional or just Apropose.
  11. Bolo it depends on the strength of the material but the Holy grail for zeppelins is vacuum if you have a material light and strong enough that you can literally pump all the air out and have it weigh less than air without collapsing. Of course on the other extreme really really big hot air zeppelins using radio isotope thermal generators to both heat the air in the canopy and generate electricity.they would basically fly for ever as long as the heat loss was well balanced. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioisotope_thermoelectric_generator
  12. Oh I can imagine the Canadian hunting community would embrace it as would people who might encounter violence professionally doorstaff (bouncers) repo men and unfortunately nurses and EMTs If protect-o-weave really is light and flexible I can see ballistic headwear being a big use to stop those Kennedy and Lincoln situations. Think bullet proof baseball hats like this http://www.bulletsafe.com/bulletproof-baseball-cap.html but 360 protection and probably lined with something like D3O https://www.d3o.com a lightweight material that hardens to spread impact and protect against concussion.
  13. Obviously the question with superscience is reproducibility does the wonder material take unusual ingredients or exotic techniques to manufacture. It might be easy to make a small batch with your inventors existing lab but scaling up to industrial levels might run into problems. Or it might just be crazy expensive. Alternatively you might run into the man in the white suit problem the wonder material might prove to be unstable under non controlled circumstances like UV saltwater or just breaks down overtime. Finally there might be unforseen complications like asbestos and cancer or just bullet proof criminals. Unstable molecules in the marvel universe had all these issues substances that rendered them inert specific repulsor frequencies that make them break apart. An instability that if not addressed causes them to self replicate consuming everything in there path plus they cost a fortune.
  14. Personal force fields and flash gordon ray guns would make your aliens a legitimate threat. They don't even need to be bad guys perse maybe they need to retrieve parts for there ship from a previous crash site. Watch roswell new Mexico turn into a war zone as various intelligence and criminal organizations descend to get there hands on alien tech and 40s aliens V army as they try to infiltrate Area 51. You could even just have them arrested for some minor crime like a dine and dash due to a cultural misunderstanding it's all good until the ray guns come out and now a small town is in the middle of war of the world's. 15. LIMITLESS the movie and TV show both feature normalish guys who become superhumanly intelligent when they take a drug. Interestingly they get all the types of intelligence not just cognition but emotional and kinesthetic etc. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_multiple_intelligences
  16. Another thought the reason they dress like spies is they first came to earth during the 40s because passive probes detected atomic detonations and they didn't realize human fashions would change do fast.
  17. There is a British TV show from 2000 that features this exact premise The Strangerers. Written by Rob Grant one of the creators of red dwarf and starring Mark Williams(Arthur Weasley in Harry Potter) I only saw the pilot but the incident that stuck with me was them miss understanding the oil based economy and trying to pay for dinner with squirts of motor oil. One concept from that show you could borrow is them not actually being villains but their attempts to blend into society actually making them stand out and it's other people trying to capture them for their alien tech (I think in the show they had a "Magic" brief case that was actually a star-trekesque replicator that could produce gold and perfect currency) who actually cause the damage. (think Vash the stampede from Trigun).
  18. High-guy. Harold Marin loved weed originally illegally when legalization happened he was one of the first to transition to legal growing. Harold was an expert grower and experimented with a variety of hybrid strains. His life totally changed when a old friend a straight edge urban Explorer brought him a gift a weird mutant cannabis plant he had found growing in abandoned building near Rocky flats plant a former nuclear weapons plant shut down in raids by the FBI and EPA due to illegal environmental contamination. Harold tested the plant and discovered a truly phenomenal amount of thc in the samples. He just had to try it loading up his vaporizer he settled in for a good high. Harold unfortunately hadn't done a full chemical analysis if he had he would have realized that not only did the plant have very high THC levels there where a lot of previously unknown chemicals in the mix. Harold's high was a lot more intense than an old hand would expect. Harold woke up 8 hours later 50 miles from Denver on the top of the 2000ft tall Hoyt radio tower. With no idea how he got there. He had had strange dreams hallucinations and a feeling like flying. When he eventually got back to his grow on he found all traces of the mysterious plant gone. Over the next few days Harold experienced weird side effects moments when he hallucinated floating above the ground times when he tried smoking again and everyone around him seem to get just as mellow. Eventually Harold realized the truth the mysterious weed had given him super powers. Harold is now HIGH-GUY THE CANNABIS CRUSADER. He has the power of flight though quite slow and gentle he can also generate a field that allows him to give people what he calls a contact high. Either mellowing them out and making them sleepy. He can also make them hyperactive or paranoid though mellow and sleepy is his go too. He is also a bit tougher and stronger than a normal person. He works promoting legal weed and helps fund the team through his network of dispensaries.
  19. Isn't that how the avengers (rick Jones grabs and an wasp and Ironman to help out thir and hulk against Loki) and justice league fighting the Appalachian individually but getting defeated until they work together) originally got together. My favorite had to be Dynamo 5 the illegitimate offspring of a superman espy get powers from the same radiation source he used after being recruited by his version of Lois lane, when he gets killed.
  20. By the way Nothere congratulations on a really obscure bit of starwars minutia.
  21. Dr Payne. First do no harm is the core sentiment of the hypocratic oath. Dr Ernest Payne was a psychologist who helped victims of crime and violence to recover from there trauma. But deep inside he took a thrill from the emotional pain he witnessed. when the orb activated he gained the ability to trap people in there own personal hell looping their worst moments and feeding on the emotional pain generated as he watches their nightmares.
  22. Oops I thought I said 5 weird keyboard glitch when I was posting next teams all yours bolo
  23. Star Destroyer Tarquin Moffat The star destroyer a name that struck fear into the hearts of A list celebrities and their agents Tarquin was the premier gossip hound in LA if there was a scandal he'd find it and expose it. Things were going great for Tarquin, sure everyone hated him but the public loved his exposes of the rich and famous. It didn't last though. some wannabe starlet commits suicide because of him linking her to a married star and he's in court getting sued by her family all bankrolled by a group of ticked off agents. It got worse the private eyes hired by the plaintiff discovered his two greatest secrets the first was that he didn't publish all his stories he kept a bunch of the juicier ones for himself and was blackmailing half of Hollywood. The second was how he got his scoops it turned out Tarquin was a telepath he hung around the haunts of the famous and gleaned surface thoughts for his stories . Which is how a pudgy gossip journalist ended up in strong hold. 3 years later a harder meaner Tarquin escaped during a prison riot and ended up joining the dark side. Tarquin is now heavily muscled needing to protect himself inside and has a bunch of prison tatts his originally potent but unrefined telepathy has been improved and he has added limited precognition, mind control and telekinesis to his repertoire. He wears a black leather outfit and because he is very aware of the benefits of a strong brand he has a insignia of a golden five pointed star merged with the safety symbol for explosives so one arm is in pieces and lines are shooting off to the right.
  24. Another one I just found interesting. Glen Curtis a pioneering engineer who developed built many legendary seaplanes I just found out not only was he a great inventor but was the only person ever to have achieve the world land speed record on a motorcycle which was the fastest motorcycle in the world for almost 30 years. http://newatlas.com/glen-curtis-pioneer-aviator-land-speed-record-holder/46766/?li_source=LI&li_medium=default-widget
  25. El guardián de hierro de la revolution. In 1963 the Soviet Union gifted the Cuban people one of their first power Armour suits. Named by fidel himself as The Iron guardian of the revolution Given both as a consolation for the Cuban missile crisis and as a defense against the United States growing superhuman presence. For the next 30 years a combination of the the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (ANIR a group of revolutionary-minded scientists and mechanics) and occasional hand me downs from the Soviets would keep the iron guardian operational and capable of holding it's own in the world of powered armored heros. This came to an end in 1991 with the collapse of the Soviet and the so-called "The Special Period in the Time of Peace,” despite the collapse of the economy and the American embargo. The ANIR kept the iron guardian running the current pilot Héctor Francisco de Albear is the grandson of the first pilot he keeps iron guardian running with jury rigged soviet parts salvaged consumer electronics and a fair amount of spit and bailing wire. Iron Guardian is a hulking over engineered combat suit it has the heavy duty sturdiness of Soviet military equipment but jigsawed with parts from other machines chrome trim from 50s cars and Skoda and Yugo door panels. The clunky early electronics have been partially upgraded with cell phones and bits of old laptops.
