I expect bickering and hairsplitting on wedge issues like this, so that doesn't cause me more than passing irritation. That one is effectively prohibited from gathering unbiased data needed to prove whether some potential remedy has a positive effect ... that really bothers me.

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to test the ideas there because you can't get the actual statistics on gun ownership and gun-related crime counts. Studies of that sort explicitly cannot receive federal dollars.

Part of me goes "Eh". As speaker he was neither effective nor effectual - he basically got nothing done during his tenure. The other part of me suspects that his sucessor will make him look pretty good.

So yesterday was my big birthday gift. My brother and I saw one of my favorite bands in concert last night. Here's my (mildly edited) recap for my friends plus as much of the playlist as I can remember.
 
The show was great, the venue was POOP and not enough people were there but it was awesome
