Just a quick update: I am receiving positive feedback from  the players so far. They say they are enjoying the game and want to continue. I am having a blast. It had been a long time since I have been excited about the hobby. Hero system rocks!

I am really enjoying mentoring a player, who is new to the Hero system, take his first steps into a larger world.

The problem with a death trap is that it relies on the writer knowing how to get out and making the character figure it out.  Players are... less reliable in that aspect.  You often have to end up giving them die rolls to figure things out which is less than satisfying.  On the other hand, sometimes they come up with a way of trying to get out which you had not considered.  And if its remotely feasible or entertaining... go for it, even if you have to change things a bit to make it work.

Better you change your plans for the player to succeed on their own than force them along a predetermined path through die rolls to feed them info.

I have both my players trapped in the basement of the Egyptian pavilion during the 1939 World's Fair in Queens NY.  They still have to work out how to escape. Let the fun begin.

Which explains why Magneto didn't just show up in Age of Ultron and crush all the robots.  How it should have ended showed us that.

It wasn’t a full transfusion.  He was bitten by a venomous snake and then injected with mongoose blood to serve as an antidote (still pretty silly though).

Well, if you can move parts of your body so fast they vibrate....
On another note,  for a while Marvel had them as the parents of the Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver.  This was before they were retconed into being Magneto’s kids.

I think his greatest power was getting Miss America, a superstrong flying superheroine who happened to be a brilliant millionaire, and who looked like Maureen O'Hara, to go out with his.

My favorite Golden Age origin is for the Whizzer, a Timely Comics speedster Marvel put into the Invaders.  He got his speed after getting an emergency blood transfusion from a mongoose.  I’ll say it again.....a mongoose.
Even if a cross species, no blood typing transfusion didn’t kill him outright.  A mongoose is about the size of a ferret, how much blood could it have?
Modern day retconning says the shock just kicked off his mutant abilities.

Golden Age characters were infamous for being insanely powerful but rarely actually using their powers intelligently or the way someone would now.  Johnny Thunder is a perfect example of that kind of character.  Others were limited by being dolts.  Captain Marvel was supposed to have the Wisdom of Solomon but he was constantly bamboozled by everyone, was foolishly trusting, and easily duped.

Johnny Thunder was great. It's just hard to write his skill set since he has Shaun Spencer's background and Alladin's sidekick
