  1. Re: Campaign Rules for Anime Fantasy I'm currently debating whether or not to allow killing attacks. Normal Damage attacks seem to emulate the fights quite nicely, high stun, low body, with the low death rate. Another thing I noticed, is that armor doesn't seem to really matter, a mace to the face has the same effect whether the character is wearing a helm or not.
  2. Re: Campaign Rules for Anime Fantasy These are definitely some ideas that I'll look into. 2-4 are exactly the things I can't stand about anime. I'm not trying to replicate the entirety of the style, just the aspects of the fight scenes I've seen thus far, which, the more I watch, the more I think it's really just another version of super heroes.
  3. Re: Paragon Disruption As a player or a GM, would you want a time frame associated with the disruption or would prefer it to be left to GM fiat?
  4. Re: Campaign Rules for Anime Fantasy I'm hoping to mirror this without creating new rules if possible. I'd like to stick within the published Hero System materials to make it more "standardized".
  5. Re: Campaign Rules for Anime Fantasy Right now I'm thinking using Superheroic "rules" as the basis, so lots of stun attacks and such, no hit locations or other optional combat rules. Knockback definitely in effect, that sort of thing.
  6. Hello all, I am currently developing a setting that will be similar in nature to medium to high power fantasy anime and I want the campaign rules to reflect what I see on the screen. Generally speaking the fight scenes consist of lots of weapon play and special maneuvers/powers, primary characters are tossed around all over the place and through buildings, tossed off of high cliffs and generally beaten the crap out of, but they all die with a single "final" strike that is often unimpressive (i.e. a simple stab wound). Any suggestions or guidelines you'd recommend?
  7. Hello all, How would you write something like this in Hero System terms?
  8. Re: Converting adventures from other systems for fantasy hero This is a further recommendation for the adopt the story but not necessarily attempt a direct translation. Currently all but one of my PBP adventures on HeroCentral are utilizing adventures from 4E or 3.x and I can't afford to do a straight translation (Kamarathin is a notoriously hard to heal setting and death is permanent). I would also like to offer up 'Here Be Dragons' as a resource for critters that you won't find in the 'Hero System Bestiary', the two titles work great together.

  10. Re: Battle Royale Demo The human warrior is designed to use his shield heavily in tandem with the sword. The terrain will be a ruin-filled clearing, so lot's of partially collapsed walls and rubble. The mage needs to pay END for that forcefield and his magic attacks are END heavy. Plus, there is knockback in play.
  11. Re: Battle Royale Demo Any glaring holes in the builds?
  12. Re: Battle Royale Demo And the rest of the mini's
  13. Hello all, On October 1st I will be running a simple combat demo at a local game store here in Houston. I have written up 4 characters that will do battle against each other. It is fantasy themed but I wanted to keep it light and "super-hero-y" so I'm not using any killing attacks and unless otherwise stated, Knockback is in full effect. There aren't any Complications and I'll be streamlining the rules a bit to make the battle quicker. The attached PDF's are the 1st draft of the characters I want to use. I'd like some feedback if possible concerning their viability in a free-for-all combat against each other. They don't have to be perfect or powergamed to the Nth degree, I just want to make sure there aren't any glaring issues that would invalidate one or more of them.
  14. Re: Staff of the Druid Don't forget to apply the focus limitation
  15. Re: Magical Weapon You build a character sheet for the weapon.
  16. Re: Magical Weapon Simply have the powers listed with the Focus limitation and then: Limited Power: Only When Sword is Drawn
  17. Re: God of Redemption Excellent information and questions Alcamtar. Definitely need to sit down and think about some of these before I go forward.
  18. Re: God of Redemption You guys are awesome. Thank you very much for your ideas. I'm going to go off and make my write-up, I'll post it here when I'm done.
  19. Re: God of Redemption Here is what I am working from, perhaps this will give some more info as well. So far I'm really liking what seems to be coming together from you folks. A player wants to be a member of the The Way of Truth so I am trying to expand upon it. Unfortunately, in order to do so, I need to know what the original religion was like before I can bastardize it for The Way of Truth.
  20. Re: God of Redemption And this is the kind of stuff I'm looking for. The god is long gone and generally unknown, but there are cults that are inadvertently following his original teachings to varying degrees of purity. I'm trying to figure out how this gods religion would have operated. how the priests would have behaved and such. Not so interested in the deity himself, though I guess I did make that a bit confusing in my OP.
  21. Re: God of Redemption He's not really about rebuilding their lives, so match as getting them to "admit their sins" prior to judgement, to use the Christian vernacular.
  22. So, I have a Lawful Good god of Redemption that I need to design a religion around. I don't have any more information on him than the above "characteristics" and the brief text below: I'm using this definition of "Lawful Good" to help feed the deities mind set. As an aside, I don't actually use alignments, I merely include them as idea generators. For some reason, I'm having a difficult time with this. I keep coming up with the stock shining knight and I'd really like to avoid that cliche. Any and all help would be appreciated.
