1. Re: Terraforming Terminology Thanks folks. Here's what we have so far:
2. Hello all, I am looking to form a list of about 25 words that are considered representative of Terraforming. These should be words that you would find in the engineering manual for the act of Terraforming a planet. I don't need the definitions or anything more than just the words themselves. I'm developing a name generator that will use these terms as 'seeds' for the generator.
3. Re: Only Breathe's Through Skin It's humanoid and we have the added advantage of a highly magic environment in the setting.
4. Hello all, I am working on writing up some species for my latest setting and I was wondering how much and what kind of information (other than mechanics) are you looking for in the description of a race. I'm not concerned with cultural things, this is pure genetics.
5. Re: Make Your Own Motivational Poster Must spread some Rep
6. Re: Range of this Detect Hm, time to look into the Simulated Sense rule.
7. Re: Range of this Detect Good catch, I forgot the 'only to activate'.
8. Re: Range of this Detect Cool, thank you.
9. What would you say was the effective range of this Detect? I'm thinking it's effectively 'line of sight' and cannot detect through barriers, am I correct?
10. Re: Need a name Ah-ha! Sultanate, gracias.
11. Re: Only Breathe's Through Skin Yeah, but I'm not basing them that closely to real ants.
12. Hello all, I'm looking for a descriptor (like kingdom, emirate, confederacy, etc.) for a secular arabic flavored dictatorship. I'm currently using 'Sovereignty' but that has too much of a European feel.
13. Re: Only Breathe's Through Skin They are a humanoid insect race that resemble Yellow Ants
14. I have a race that breathes through their skin. They do not have lungs and thus cannot hold their breathe. I'm looking for any talents or disadvantages that would come about because of this, as it stands, I'm having them not be able to swim and not wear clothing or armor. I'm also wondering if this would be a single disadvantage or should I write each issue up as a separate one.
15. Re: Language Relations Thanks, I was thinking about weighting the familiarity towards the parent language, but now I have a reason as to why.
16. Re: Psionic Centaur...needing a racial name The races and cultures for this setting are still in development, their various cultures have yet to be fully fleshed out. The Centaurs have 5 distinct cultures (Nillec, Seorkear, Mellec, Mangwyr, and Yaeleorkan) while the psychic ones only have a single one (Rococ).
17. Re: Psionic Centaur...needing a racial name Must spread around, yadda yadda, can someone hit him with the rep stick?
18. Hello all, I'm trying to come up with an interesting and "original" name for a race of centaurs that lean towards psionic abilities. In this world I do have centaurs, which I call 'centaurs' (insanely original, I know). They have a sub species that are less healthy but have higher EGO and MCV, naturally and I am trying to come up with a name for them that doesn't stick to D&D schtik of: Deep Centaurs or Mountain Centaurs or Psionic Centaurs, etc. Any help?
19. Hello all, As those of you who have the Kamarathin setting and/or been in my Kamarathin PbP campaigns know, I love diverse languages. In fact, one of my most favorite aspects of Hero System is the Language Table. To that end I am currently working on a new setting and I am developing the languages. One group of people left their native lands and settled in a country whose language is extremely different than their own (think an American colony in Japan). As time went on, this colony merged their native language with that of the land they were in. I'm wondering how closely related this patois would be to their native tongue and to the native language of their new home? The two languages belong to two different groups that do not even share a 1 point similarity. Normally I would make a dialect a 4 pt. similarity, but in this case, the merged languages are so different I'm wondering if I should make this particular one 3 pt. similarity...or would a 2pt. suffice?
20. Re: Force Dome Barrier can be broken down, Resistant Protection cannot. I want something that can be destroyed after enough pummeling.
21. A player wants to build this power: I believe he wants it to act like a shield that blocks incoming attacks. I'm curious how this would actually work in combat, as written.
22. Re: Force Dome Very cool, thanks everyone.
23. Re: Force Dome This is what I built as a first draft, I calculated the circumference of an 8m radius dome. not sure if that's how it's done or not.
24. I'm trying to build a Force Dome power for a character. The effect is a dome of energy about 4m at it's peak and covers a radius of 8m. The dome is the only shape it can take and it is immobile while activated. Costs END to maintain. Character must focus on the dome to the exclusion of all else. I'm having difficulty deciding how I should build that with Barrier. Any tips?
