  2. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Heh, wow, someone else who looks at the Box of Truth. =) Very cool. I like the gelatin test with the #1 buckshot. I may have to consider changing to that. I currently load Low Recoil 00 Buckshot and Federal HP Rifled Slugs on the side-saddle. Good to see they tested well, though. Still, that #1 Buck looked good with the extra pellets, though not as well with the drywall, it seemed to still get a good amount of penetration. Might be nicer since its just a house gun anyway. Hey, didn't say I didn't like the overkill... just tried to imagine getting hit with a hollowpoint slug... like getting big ol' golf ball pushed through ya. Heh.
  3. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... And from our Shadowrun 4e Game this week... The party enters Annie Oakley's, a brothel with an old west theme... Grief (a Troll): So are there any women in here wearing spurs? GM: Yes. Spurs, cowboy boots, gunbelts, lassos, cowboy hats... Grief: Bridles? GM: Ummm... no, not at the moment... ? Mike (OOC): He wants a pony girl! Grief: I do like a burly women.
  4. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Nope. Finally remembered some newer weapon systems that you might find interesting. At least I did... I want this rifle VERY much, but there's not a civilian version. Knight Arms PDW 6x35mm Its a pretty sweet weapon in between a SMG and a full rifle. For a rifle, this FNH FS2000 Carbine would be pretty nice as well. I think it was linked before. And speaking of SMGs, the Kriss SMG is something new technology-wise, if you count using this type of cam new technology, anyway. I guess more a re-application of technology. I usually just stat by caliber and then occasionally by fire rate and inherent accuracy or some-such or just base it off what's already there. Most of these firearms are all the same crap. I'd just make the PDW the same as an M-4, the FS2000 is just more compact and has some visual factors but otherwise similar to an M-16, and the Kriss is just a Tommy Gun w/o the recoil. Since Hero doesn't really do recoil, I don't sweat it, except a lower strength minimum maybe? =)
  5. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Quotes of the Week from my 7-year old... Maya: Daddy, do you know what my favorite thing to eat is? Me: What? Maya: Chocolate. Me: That's what I thought. Maya: You know what my second favorite thing to eat is? Me: Hmmm... no, what? Maya: Red Jelly Beans. Me: Okay. That's kind of specific, but I can see that... Maya: Chocolate jelly beans taste like farts. Me: How do you know that? Maya: Cuz it tastes like farts smell... and Brianna (my eldest) farted in my mouth once. Me: And she greets my friend coming in... Maya: Hi Shawn! Shawn: Hi, Maya. Maya: My daddy can make his man-boobs dance! Shawn: Me:
  6. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Sounds like Cyberpunk, or close enough to it, that these following links may be useful to you: Cyberpunk 2021 has a great gear page and is downloadable as PDFs. Datafortress 2020 has a lot of stuff, if you can sift through it all, but also has a lot of shirow stuff to possibly use. Night City Data Term 42C has a few items as well. Rad's Cyberpunk Gunpage has some and also a program to "draw" guns. Though, as I remember, you don't need help there. =) Hope those help, but as far as real weapon systems, a lot of the guys already hit it up and most of the "new" stuff for the US deals in taking the current weapon systems and just modifying them to gas systems, adding abilities to shoot around cover with swiveling stocks and cameras, adding 25-40mm grenade or shotgun backups, more places to attach more crap, and changing the cartridge used. Not a whole lot of "new" to it, really. Caseless is mostly bypassed because no one can make one that actually burns up everything, so it leaves crap in the mechanism to foul the action, thus negating the bonus of having a closed system and requiring it to act as our current system already does, minus the brass, but with possibly quite a bit more fouling. That's my understanding thus far, but I can't say I really keep up with it. Besides, its probably more about making it CHEAP and not fouling rather than not fouling. Meh. Lasers and microwaves and all that just seems like a colossal waste of resources to me since it requires so much power compared to just packing an brass tube with some powder and a chunk of metal in front of it. If they ever develop something that operates on a much more efficient power source, maybe it'll be viable. Who the heck wants to hump a couple hundred pounds of batteries? The other side is that crazy people are trying to make bigger and bigger guns, including handguns. I've now seen a .600 nitro revolver on here and heard of a .700 nitro. My wrist aches just thinking about it. BTW, Gewing, the .577 Manstopper looks AWESOME... it reminded me of my thoughts about getting 12 gauge slugs with hollowpoint slugs. What's the point of a hollowpoint at that size?! Well, overkill is alive and well, my friends... and I LIKE IT!
  7. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Kind of like "Ripped like Jesus." That's one of my favorites... in reference to the many *ahem* muscular versions of the Christian Prophet upon the crucifix.
  8. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From our Shadowrun game... a great big fight on a catwalk with the Big Bad Guy's Big Bad Lieutenant. Black Mamba: Holy crap, how is this guy still going? Grief: I dunno, I've hit him in the skull twice and it hasn't caved in yet. After... Black Mamba (ooc): Can I see his sheet? GM: No. Black Mamba (ooc): But he's dead, isn't he? GM: Umm... Mike (ooc): Ah-hah! We needed a recurring villain! Harry (ooc): Oh great, we're talking recurring villains and I'm still holding my guts in.
  9. Re: Dark Champions hero fragility Ah, that's what I get for not reading the thread fully. =) Yeah, haven't even looked at the write-ups for vests anytime recently. I couldn't tell you how it was done. All I know about real-world vests personally is that they get more and more expensive that way, too. =) I do have a vague interest in those new Dragonskin vests, though. From what my friends and co-workers say wearing the vests, they don't complain about weight, just heat... but anyway... Dunno, probably something in the hit location armor value around 7 or 8 rPD would suffice, as some damage still usually occurs. Not sure what the book has them at. We usually use a small amount of combat luck to supplement characters that are supposed to be good in combat... then again, we don't use hit location rules except as someone else mentioned for the whole "called shots" thing as we want a tad more cinematic than realistic.
  10. Re: Tentacle Sheath HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Repped.
  11. Re: Blasters in Dark Champions Methinks that it isn't the energy weapon that breaks the genre crossover so much as the presence of the power armor. I'm assuming its a gauntlet that's emitting the blast, but perhaps if it were a bit less elegant and more like a rather large device or just as a rifle/launcher/projector type thing. If you make it more unwieldy and requiring a certain amount of equipment or at least a heavier cost in power it would fit the feel of it better, perhaps. Think on the image of warhammer 40k heavy weapons versus iron man kind of stuff... and that's basically my idea to make it seem to fit better. I also agree that mini-guns are fun and have that certain distinctive flare for style and such. If/when I allow them in my games, they are typically fun for a short while as the ammunition just runs out real fast but not "realistically" fast. Gets the impact in but doesn't mean that character is hosing everything all game long. That would be more for the straight dark champions or cyberpunk/shadowrun style games. I'm not a big advocate of excessive firepower at all times for the game to be any fun. Tends to engender the whole firepower/defense escalation thing.
  12. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Hehehe... hey, I don't name 'em, I just report 'em. As it is, I'm already planning an enemy of his that's mad about him taking HER name. =)
  13. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I just watched the first two discs... does it get better? Its rather odd so far, though kind of amusing. My eldest daughter seems to dig it pretty well, though. The inclusion of a bit of gun porn helps.
  14. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From our first Shadowrun 4e game this week... Quickly, the cast: "Grief," our Troll Enforcer w/ smiley face w/ bullethole image on front and back of jacket that alternately blinks... Black Bamba, our assassin in the chameleon suit Harry Gillet, our Physical Adept Hacker teenager Mike, our former Urban Brawl player and kind of the street samurai Character introductions and descriptions are made... Grief: ...and my jacket blinks with those alternately. I can turn it off, though. Mike: What, with a light switch on your chest? Grief: oh yeah, and I wear my scooter on my back with leather straps. Anyone know where I can get some rims for it? GM: Yeah, he's the stealth expert... *snigger* Harry Gillet: So, what do you do exactly, Black Mamba? Black Mamba: I'm... kind of an assassin. Harry Gillet: so are you a hot blond, wearing a yellow jump suit with racing stripes, and carrying a katana? Black Mamba: What?! Harry Gillett: Sorry, I was just having a Kill Bill flashback... Black Mamba: *much relieved* Ohhh.... Mike: ..my body is very obviously enhanced; like, you can see it in the odd way my muscles look and stuff. GM: yeah, it looks like those twizzler twists or something. Grief: hehe, awesome, I'm hungry... Mike: yeah, its like cherry flavored chicken! The game gets under way... GM: About seven frothing maniacs with crazy cyberware storms into the bar, including a couple with chainsaw blades spinning from mounts in their cyberarms. Harry: Uh... do we know who these guys are? GM: From what you have heard, these look to be members of the Rage Boners. Harry: .... did you say Rage Boners? GM: Yeah, picturing a guy really really angry with a "raging boner" made a pretty amusing and disturbing visual... what, is it too dumb? Mike (ooc): *pantomimes angry screaming guy and other gestures* Harry: Umm... is there another way out of here? GM: Okay, make a perception test, the both of you... Black Mamba: Oh... no successes. And a one. Isn't that a fumble or whatever? GM: yeah, but not a bad one... Grief? Grief: Umm... what if I roll a bunch of ones? GM: That many is a critical failure... that's bad. -- after awhile, the boat they're watching blows up -- Black Mamba: Holy crap, where'd that come from? Grief: Huh? Something happen? I've been trying to get this shiny thing off the ground, I think someone glued it down...
  15. Re: Cool Guns for your Games That's hilarious... and frightening.... and I gotta get that game. =) Repped.
  16. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Cool idea, repped! (and possibly ripped off in the near future)
  17. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... This made me chuckle... I didn't even realize until you just mentioned it... that's hilarious. =)
  18. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Also note that the gun pictured is not the standard Dan Wesson, it has an aftermarket slab-sided barrel and aristocrat rib. At least, I didn't think DW made those... but there are gunsmiths who install those for PPC and similar competitions.
  19. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. I thought the ones with the polka-dotted underwear was nice, but the skirt's proportions were all off just to make the point of showing the panties. =/ It looks like its about 5 inches long in front and about 18 inches in the back, which just makes super-girl a bad seamstress or really... naughty. I never minded the skirt so much, it was kind of appealing yet never became an excuse to flip out of the way and all that junk. Yeah, its way short, but still better than the normal costume without the skirt... I liked Storn's as well. Always nice to actually see more of a different take on the character, and I thought the change of lines and the whole diamond/triangular flow of things was done nicely. I didn't care for most of the ones posted, but some of the more cartoon style postings were pretty amusing.
  20. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... crap, I gotta stop posting while I'm inebriated... I just put down the stupidest most moronic rep ever. Sorry Dr Hoz. I'd offer you to kick me in the jimmy if we were in any geographical proximity, but you would have to get in line... funny stuff!
  21. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From our new Savage Worlds campaign... we are fighting Hellbats, giant man-bat looking things, I guess. **************************************** Jean, our french Monster Hunter ala Van Helsing but much Frencher. (yes, I know that's not a word... its just that bad.); Tai, our chinese wuxia master, have a conversation about the hellbats circling above... Tai: Do you know what those are? Jean: Of course! They are Hellbats! Tai: Are they dangerous? Jean: For me... not so much. You may have trouble with zem, however. ********************************************* Outside of the train, running to save a girl, when a bat comes down to attack them... Jean: *Bang* ah-hah! Take that! Bat: *SMASH* *SLASH* *POW* Jean: *shaken* *doi* Tai: *smashes the back of the bat's head in with his open hand* *bullet falls out of the bat its hit so hard* (exploding die comes up big) BAT: *DIES* Jean: *recovers, though wounded* ah-hah! See, my bullet killed it. You just slapped it out of its head! Tai: .....yeah. Jean: Holy Crap! He just slapped it dead... ***************************************** Another Hell Bat comes swooping down to attack Jean... Jean: Anozer one! Lillian (our Orchid Hunter), leans out of a window and fires. Hell Bat: *DIES* (another crazy exploding die roll) Jean: *examines his gun* Did I put enough powder in zese? I do not get ze same rezultz... ******************************************** Our Huckster moves to go get the crate of Colt Peacemakers from the luggage car from our Caboose. He opens to door. (Sorry J, forgot his name) Hell Bat: *SCREEEEEEEEEECH* *Reaches for the Huckster* GM: What do you do? Huckster: I close the door. "Well, maybe we can get those later." ******************************************** There was quite a bit of hilarity, but I can only remember those well enough to post... it was a fun session.
  22. Re: dark champions with pulp hero ancestors No, but I had one that was born in the Pulp era and lived up to the modern and then post-apocalyptic era. =)
